All he just wanted to do was to use his powers to unite the three realms and give them all a better life.

If the others didn't want to be united then they could have simply separated themselves from the rest and create realms of their own to keep them away from other species, there was no logic in attacking those who wanted to be united.

And what they had done to Marv was unacceptable, they took away his wives, his children, his kingdom and even his soul, they had turned him into a living corpse.
