Chapter Eighteen

In the cozy living room of his mother’s place, Charles settled into an armchair while the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and toasted bread wafted through the air. Selena bustled around the kitchen as she made sandwiches.

“So, Charles,” Selena said, placing the sandwiches on a tray and joining her son in the living room, “how did your time out go? Did you enjoy yourself?”

Charles took a sip of coffee before replying, “Oh, it was lovely, Mom. I went for a walk in the park, enjoyed the fresh air, and admired the beautiful scenery.”

“That sounds delightful, dear,” Selena smiled. “And what else did you do?”

After a moment of hesitation, Charles grinned mischievously, “Well, I decided to try something different. I went to a bar nearby and made some friends there.”

Selena’s eyes widened with surprise, but she didn’t try to hide her amusement. “A bar, huh? That’s unexpected. Tell me more about your adventure.”
