Chapter Forty-five
The Adams family had gathered in the living room, their faces etched with worry and surprise. Their mother sat at the head of the room, her eyes fixed on Emma. Beside her was Mary, nervously playing with a strand of her long hair. Michael, leaned against the wall, his arms crossed, and Uncle Arnold sat on the armchair, his expression a mix of curiosity and concern. Emma sat nervously on the couch, fidgeting with her fingers.

The previous day, a detective had paid them an unexpected visit. He had questioned them about the fire at Oscorp and their ties to the company. Their mother had answered the detective's questions as truthfully as she could, to the best of her knowledge. The detective had left, leaving them all surprised.

Emma finally broke the silence that had settled over the room. “I’m sure you’re all wondering why the detective came yesterday,” she began cautiously.

Mary looked at Emma with wide eyes. “Yeah, Emma, we’re really worried. What does this mean?”
