Charles couldn’t sleep, his mind tormented by the image of his mother, abducted by unknown men from their peaceful home the previous day. He’d been cooperating with the police, answering their endless questions, but the investigation was going nowhere.

The local police, determined to bring his mother back, descended upon Charles’ residence, their badges shining in the afternoon sun. Detective Rodriguez, a stern man with a mustache, led the investigation. His furrowed brows revealed the frustration he felt. “Mr. Griffins, we will need your help and cooperation," he implored, his eyes reflecting a mix of sympathy and urgency.
