Back to Earth

"Umm...Do you know us?" Maya asked curiously.

"My father had only one good friend amongst all the friends that he had when he was a hunter for a certain someone. When he had a disease, that friend didn't leave him, he always came to visit to check up on my dad, even when all the others left him —heck even my mum left him— until recently, he stopped coming to visit." Shian sighed. "That friend, his name was Ryan Blackwill."

The old man wasn't looking too good, it seemed like what Shian said had shaken him for some reason.

"My son!!, Ryan Blackwill is my son." The old man said. Considering the way he said it, something seemed to have happened.

"What happened to him?"

"Ryan died a few weeks ago." Maya sighed and replied gloomily. "He was assassinated."

"I'm...so sorry about that" Shian said.

"Anyways, you might want to head back to earth..." Maya spoke but was cut off by Shian who was already standing up from the bed.

"Yeah, I really want to go back, like, right now. This planet has given me a traumatizing shit show and I do NOT!! want to ever come back here AGAIN!!" Shian's outburst made Maya flinch and snapped Grandpa Enzo out of his dazed state.

"Okay. By the way, there was a recent attack from the Cythrauls, they decided to call off their peace treaty, so the five pillars and the government sent out an order, that everyone above the age of eighteen must attend the academy. As to why, it's simply because we, the human race, are short on man power.

Shian stood up and flexed his muscles.

"How long have I been passed out" Shian asked.

"Just a few hours" Grandpa Enzo replied. He had recovered from the shock of hearing about his son and was acting like his normal self again.

"Shall we." The old man gestured towards the door.

"After you." Shian replied. "Also, thank you very much for taking care of me."

"Anytime."

Maya rolled her eyes and shouted at them. "Just get going already."

They both scuttled out of the room and walked towards the exit. Shian gaped at the number of people in the building, he was still passed out when Grandpa Enzo brought him in so he didn't know that there were alot of people in the base. He really was unlucky to spawn in an unexplored area of this red leveled beast realm.

As Shian watched them all work, he noticed that they all had an insignia of a mountains summit and a black sun —rising or setting depending on how one saw it— on the left side of their chest. He assumed that it was the logo of their family. The Blackwill family.

"This place is our base on this planet. When a portal opens up, our family sends a troupe to explore it to gain more fighting experience and more beast crystals." Enzo explained.

"But aren't the portals, government properties." Shian questioned.

"We have an agreement with the government, so we can enter almost any portal we want anytime we want" Enzo answered.

"Your family must be really influencial then. Apart from knowing your son, how come I've never heard about your family, at least I will have heard your name somewhere." Shian said with a hint of curiosity.

"You are from the outskirts right?" Enzo turned to him.

"Yeah, how did you know that?" Shian was surprised.

"Only someone from the outskirts will ask that kind of question. That makes me wonder how my son came to know your father, did they know each other before your father had a disease? Because if that's what happened, I will understand why he knows someone like your father"

"I think so, I was really young then so I'm not sure if they knew each other or not before we moved to the outskirts." Shian said. He was really missing his father, a feeling of longing filled his heart and he smiled bitterly and clenched his fist. He needed to get stronger because he didn't know what might happen next, maybe someone stronger than him will suddenly kill him because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Grandpa Enzo didn't miss the part where Shian clenched his fists, he knew speaking about his father had shaken him. He knew what it felt like to loose a loved one, he faced the same predicament recently.

"If you ever need anything, just tell me and I will see what I can do. Okay?" Enzo said with a type of fatherly love that moved Shain. Shian nodded in affirmation, on his face he had a neutral look, but deep down inside him he was happy, happy that someone was willing to stand up for him.

They walked towards the exit then made a right turn and headed down the hallway, they entered a room and before them stood a blue colored portal brimming with energy.

Shian was happy, he was finally going to head back to earth and enter the academy to awaken his powers. The thought of it got him agitated and unknowingly he began to walk towards the portal. Grandpa Enzo smiled and activated the portal. Shian walked through it and Grandpa Enzo followed.

Shian came through the portal first and Grandpa Enzo followed immediately after. Shian swayed lightly before stabilizing himself.

"What was that?" Shian said as he shook his head lightly to clear it.

"When someone or something moves through space at a fast pace, the person or thing will be distorted, leading to person feeling disarrayed and the thing misshaped. This machine that traps the portal reduces that effect greatly, but those who are still weak will feel the effect, albeit, only a little. People of my caliber don't feel the effect anymore." Grandpa Enzo explained.

"But why didn't I feel it the first time?" Shian replied.

"I am not sure, but I think when a person feels a strong emotion like anger, happiness, sadness or fear, they tend to not feel the effect of moving through the portal."

"That makes sense because I was really scared when I was roughly shoved through the portal to this planet." Shian said.

"So you didn't come here intentionally?" Grandpa Enzo asked with surprise.

"Of course I didn't, which basic tier hunter in their right mind will come to a realm they know they can get killed by the sneeze of a random high tier beasts. Like seriously, I was almost killed by a dead Legendary tier beast. IT WAS DEAD!!!"

"Of course I knew, just wanted to confirm." Grandpa Enzo said while scratching the back of his head. Of course Shian knew that he was lying but just ignored it.

"Let me give you a tour of my mansion then" Grandpa Enzo spoke.
