Shian lay down on the floor to rest, then remembered that he had to hunt for crystals to power the portal and return back to earth, he sat there for a while, too lazy to get up and hunt beasts.
He soon got up to go and gather crystals but returned later to rest with nothing in his hands. He got up again to go and get crystals and once again but returned with nothing, this continued on for weeks without Shian noticing anything wrong with his actions, albeit each time he returned he always had one thought.'I went outside for a reason right, well, I'll think about it later'.Shian walked out of the base, his scythe in hands, with the intent to complete his mission. As he walked towards the beasts in the distance, his mind began to wander, he thought of irrelevant things and soon found himself walking back to the base while thinking.'What the Fuck did I come out to do!!!'Shian was getting angry but didn't know why. He walked briskly back to the base and entered an empty room, he slammed the door to the room with force making it fly off its hinges."Something is wrong, anytime I go out to hunt for crystals I forget what I went out to do. I need to get out of this place before I completely loose my mind" Shian said out loud.He immediately stood up and went out through a hole in the wall that faced the opposite direction of where the dead basilisk laid. As Shian left, he looked ahead of him and what he saw made him curse his luck.'Tarnation'In the distance he saw the sky darkening, large puffy cumulus clouds spreading and slowly moving towards his direction. The abrupt changes in the winds direction and sudden drop in temperature made him shudder. He still hadn't recovered from the cold he was feeling and now it was worsening with the storm that was getting closer by the minute.Shian stumbled back into the base visibly angry at the development of things. He sat down, crossed his legs in a meditative pose and waited. Not long after he heared the distant sounds of thunder rumbling in the sky. He brought out his blanket and wrapped it round his body, even though he still felt very cold, the blanket reduced it by a little margin. The rumbling sounds intensified, Shian began to shiver and cough as a chilling breeze blew sand and dust to his face. Shian squeezed himself into a ball in a corner of the room he was in. As he waited, the sand and cold assaulting his body increased, his teeths began to clatter and goosebumps filled his whole body not sparing any part.At some point, Shian turned and looked round the room but didn't find a window or anything where air could slip through to make him feel that cold, except for the door which he had destroyed. Shian endured the bitter cold for a while, his consciousness began to slowly slip out of his body. He began to think about his life.'Is this how I am going to end up...He breathed in cold air...dieing a meaningless death'.He looked up at the bleak ceiling and sighed. 'At least I tried to change things. Dad, I'll see you soon.' He thought with a smile.Shian closed his eyes and waited, expecting death. Shian's mind began to wander again. 'Hmm...Basilisks where great masters of illusions, perhaps that was why I always forgot what I went outside to do. But illusions are not supposed to work when the user is dead right?, then why did it?...The Blood. Shian's thoughts where interrupted by a loud thunder clap, the ground shook and more dust fell from the ceiling, he looked at the ground and all the dust that was falling, when the dusts reached the ground they seemed to disappear.Shian's eyes where as wide as saucers."If the dust isn't real doesn't that mean..."Shian looked at his arm and focused intensely on it, suddenly, the goosebumps became a mirage, he was no longer feeling the biting cold on his body, the howling winds of the incoming storm seized and everything looked calm.Shian got up and walked outside to be sure he had been freed from the mind hex. Some minutes later he walked back to the base with a bright smile on his face. He had finally acquired the beast crystal of the basilisk, unfortunately, he couldn't use the crystals of the beasts that had died around it because they were tarnished by the potent venom of the snake.Shian left the vicinity of the base without looking back. He didn't want to fall under the mind hex again because the power that the beast showcased even after its death was terrifying and beyond his imagination.Shian traversed the rough and dry terrain of the beast realm. He intended to find another base to head back to earth, he was so scared of what might happen if he delayed any further, so he had left all the crystals he had amassed over the past weeks.Although Shian was worked up over it, it didn't worth sacrificing his life, what was the point in it anyway if he was dead, so he left them in search of another base. Shian was rushing, his food wasn't going to run out anytime soon, but his water reserve was dwindling fast due to the heat that permeated the surroundings.Shian walked for hours without stoping until his legs began to hurt, he wanted to get as far away from the dead basilisk as much as he could, he eventually stoped at a large rock when he was out of breath. Shian sat down in its shadow and brought out his flask of cool water and greedily drank some not letting even a drop go past his open mouth, It was with reluctancy that Shian took the bottle away from his lips. He was rationing his water because he didn't know when he was going to find another body of clean water again.Shian had covered a long distance but hadn't found a sign of clean water or a base where he could make use of a portal. Shian performed first aid on his injuries, but the more serious ones needed for him to get to a hospital. Shian was really tired and couldn't fight at his peak if a high tiered beast were to show up at that moment. Shian snorted and said"They won't dare disturb my rest"As Shian spoke, the massive rock he was resting on surged and a giant head revealed itself underneath it."Shit!! Me and my loud mouth again"Shian stood there with his bruised and battered body staring at the moving rock. The giant head revealed itself, four tortoise like arms burst out from four sides of the rock. A ceature that looked like a tortoise made out of uneven orange rocks scrutinized him briefly, before turning around and walking away. Shian heaved a sigh of relief and sat down, he was relieved of the tension that had built up in him in that short moment. For a second, he thought he was going to fight with his life on the line again, but when the beast turned around and left, he suddenly felt weak and fell on his butt. Not long after that encounter, he felt a vibration in the ground and the sky turn dark, he looked up and saw a giant circluar foot coming down on him, if he lingered any longer, he would be crushed into an ugly mush in no time.Shian picked himself up and assessed the situation, he chose a direction that could lead him faster out of the area of impact of the giant foot and ran with all his might,
Shian swung his scythe wildly, severing and dissecting several beasts at the same time, he tried his best not to move his legs too much because of the pain that might distract him, but some beasts unknowingly forced him to, and those beasts... He gave them a very cruel death. A beast charged at him with its horns, aiming to gore him to death, Shian jumped to the side and avoided it but his legs were strained in the process.Shian gritted his teeth and gave the beast a threatening stare, if stares could kill, the beast would have died a dozen times already. The beast felt a shiver run down its spine, it ignored the threatening gaze of Shian and charged at him again. Shian who was slashing at a beast suddenly stopped, caught the horns of the beast charging at him and snapped them, the beast wailed but it was short-lived as Shian stabbed the beast to death with its own horns and then...he smiled. 'Have a taste of your own medicine' He thought coldly. The beast he had neglected to kill s
The old man in blue armour was standing behind Shian looking at him worriedly, he had sensed something was wrong with Shian and immediately killed all the beasts around him to lift the pressure off of him.'He's still alive. I caused this, so I think it's only right I take care of him' The old man thought. He gingerly lifted Shian from the ground and ran. He moved at a steady pace so as to not disrupt Shian's rest, though he wasn't slow by any means. It didn't take long before they reached a base that was bustling with people, the old man stopped in front of the gate where two guards were positioned. They immediately bowed their heads and let him in, several similar situations occurred as he walked inside the base, the people he walked by bowed their heads with respect, though not the type of respect forced, but the one willingly given. The old man made his way towards a room, he opened the door without knocking and entered.Inside the room was an adjustable hospital bed with railings
"Umm...Do you know us?" Maya asked curiously."My father had only one good friend amongst all the friends that he had when he was a hunter for a certain someone. When he had a disease, that friend didn't leave him, he always came to visit to check up on my dad, even when all the others left him —heck even my mum left him— until recently, he stopped coming to visit." Shian sighed. "That friend, his name was Ryan Blackwill."The old man wasn't looking too good, it seemed like what Shian said had shaken him for some reason."My son!!, Ryan Blackwill is my son." The old man said. Considering the way he said it, something seemed to have happened. "What happened to him?" "Ryan died a few weeks ago." Maya sighed and replied gloomily. "He was assassinated.""I'm...so sorry about that" Shian said."Anyways, you might want to head back to earth..." Maya spoke but was cut off by Shian who was already standing up from the bed."Yeah, I really want to go back, like, right now. This planet has giv
Grandpa Enzo led the way out of the room, but before they left, Shian took a good look at the room, it was wide with white walls on each side and nothing in it except the portal in which they came through. "Why did we come through this portal, I thought we were supposed to come out through a portal in a military base?" Shian asked."The portal we used to head to that beast planet belongs to the military, but the one we just used to come back here is connected to this one we just came through." Grandpa Enzo explained while pointing to the red shimmering portal behind them. "So if you want to go back to the beast planet, you have to use the portal that belongs to the government, right?" Shian asked. "Hmm...not really. You see..." Grandpa Enzo was about to say something but changed his mind. "Nevermind, you're correct."They left the room and he led Shian down the long corridor, the walls where bare with nothing except the windows.'I thought they were rich, aren't rich families suppos
Shian and the blind boy in the conical hat fell on their butts with a thud, the sound waves from the shout was that powerful. Luckily their ear drums didn't burst.Grandpa Enzo could be seen standing in front of the open double doors, he walked down the stairs and stood between Shian and the blind boy."Why where the two of you fighting?!!" Grandpa Enzo said with a vein bulging at the side of his head at the lack of a reply from any of them, he was getting really angry that they where just staring at seemingly nothing in particular without even making an attempt to answer him. This was the first time Shian saw this part of Grandpa Enzo, he always appeared to be a gentle old man, but when he snapped, all the image of a gentle man was replaced with the aura of a predator ready to pounce on its prey, Shian was terrified to the point where he answered automatically without thinking of what he was about to say."I don't know." Shian said. This reply seemed to only make Grandpa Enzo more an
Ryan almost vomited blood from the amount of anger he was feeling at that moment. Grandpa Enzo laughed loudly from the side, to him the two youths where putting up quite a show and he was enjoying every bit of it. He had noticed their hostility towards each other before they entered the dining hall but just ignored it.Ryan without warning lunged at Shian and kicked him in his chest, flinging him out of his seat and scattering all the food on the table. Grandpa Enzo barely had enough time to react and all he could do was hold Ryan's leg before he could deal another kick to the already down Shian.Everything happened within a split second.Shian slid back for some meters before finally coming to a stop. He clutched his chest with his face down, he breathed in and out heavily. As he received the kick from Ryan, a memory surfaced in his mind. He remembered something his father told him before he died, his father told him how he ran to Eric Solar for help when he was kidnapped, but was pu
Shian walked down the stage and stood still waiting for Grandpa Enzo.Grandpa Enzo picked up the unconscious body of Ryan and left the room, Shian followed closely behind. They made their way down the long hallway filled with several doors leading to different rooms, Grandpa Enzo entered a room and placed Ryan on a bed, he tapped his wrist where there was a black watch and spoke some words. Some minutes later, Shian heard a noise that sounded like a drill at work, he turned to look in the direction he heard the sound and was surprised when a gust of wind hit him, almost throwing him back. "A speed ability." Shian muttered to himself. He followed the direction of the wind and saw a young man and woman in the room, they both had blue clothing that had the Blackwill's crest on the left side of their chest, the man was carrying the lady in his arms, he carefully placed her down and the lady got to work, she went over to Ryan and knelt down by his side, she stretched her hands over him and
