“No, I’m fine with this place!” replied Serenity hastily. The grave plot Jackson had picked for her mother had its own private space compared to the other graves.

Using an analogy with the different types of houses, the rest of the cemetery was like an apartment block, while her mother’s grave was a standalone bungalow.

The private grave plot was neatly lined with a row of trees. There were also marble tables and chairs for visitors within the compound.

“Very well,” said Jackson. “Then it’s time for you to lay down your mother’s ashes.”

Serenity nodded before she knelt down and placed the urn inside a hole specially dug to contain the urn. Then, the workers covered the hole with cement, thus sealing the grave.

One of them passed a contract over to her. It contained a fifty-year lease over the grave plot. She was shocked when she saw the price of the lease. It was so expensive that she probably wouldn’t be able to afford the lease even prior to the incident.
