Chapter 4

“Hey! Where are you looking? My eyes are up here!” Penelope pouted her lips.

Inside a department store, Penelope was standing outside the fitting room dressed in a white t-shirt fitted with a black tie while her lower half was covered with a black apron.

Instead of covering her body lines, the typical waitress attire she was wearing further accentuates the splendid curves of her body so much so that Liam was caught staring at her.

"I’m looking at you.” Liam answered honestly, blinking his eyes without any ulterior motive. He truly thought that Penelope looked amazing.

“What are you saying?” Penelope’s face became flushed red when she heard Liam’s honest reply.

To be honest, Liam was decent looking and looked to be around the same age as her. It would be lying to say that she did not have a tinge of interest about him.

Trying to avoid embarrassment, Penelope quickly changed the topic.

“I have never met someone as crazy as you. Throwing half a million away in a seven-day promotion event like this. Providing a two-course meal consisting of an entree followed by a main course, just for the price of one dollar? Furthermore, we are doing this for seven days straight?”

“That’s right. Liam nodded.

Of course, it goes without saying that he did not have half a million to fund the massive marketing event. However, as long as he could earn an income through the restaurant, it would be possible to come up with half a million with the multiplier effect of the system.

He had spent $5,000 of his money to print and employ people to give out fliers on the streets. Another $30,000 to buy food ingredients and furniture. After paying for the waitress' uniform for Penelope and her university friends who had agreed to help out, he was officially broke.

Beside all that expenses, he needs to hire new chefs and waitresses to handle the foreseeable crowd of people that the promotion event might entice. Fortunately for him, salaries are payable only after a month.

Working as an employee would not net him enough income, it was clear that he needed to become an owner of an F&B establishment. However, with only eight days left in the system’s mission, it would be impossible to set up a business in such a short time.

Thus, his only option was to find a failing business and turn it around with his money. And Olive Park was the perfect choice for him!

It was a huge gamble to make. But it was a gamble that was necessary. There was no other way he could achieve the target profit with only eight days left in the month.

The final showdown of the mission will depend on the eighth day, when the promotion event ends and prices of the food return back to normal.

He did not know how many customers would return after the discount had ended, but his life would depend on the outcome.

“What if your marketing stunt does not work? Penelope sighed.

“Let’s have some trust in your Dad’s cooking.” Liam smiled. That was all he could do as well.

“You know, if you save my Dad’s restaurant from Bankruptcy, I will grant you a wish. Any wish!” Penelope said with bright red ears, avoiding Liam’s gaze.

“Really?” Liam exclaimed. “If we do survive this, then I’ll hire you as the manager of Olive Park!”

“You big oaf!” Upon hearing Liam’s wish, Penelope scolded Liam with a complicated expression on her face.

With the setting of the sun, peak hours for restaurants all over the country began, the same goes for Olive Park.

Typically, Olive Park which was situated inside a low traffic alleyway would garner little to no customers.

However, that was not the case today. Starting from evening time, the place had already been overcrowded with customers from nearby neighborhoods.

“Three mushroom soups, Two aglio olio, and one carbonara for table 3!”

“Two ravioli and two mushroom risotto for table 7!”

“Right, table 3 food is done, coming right up!”

As Olive Park’s business carried on throughout the night, the chemistry between the staff kept getting better.

With Giorgio handling the kitchen whilst Penelope took care of the customers, the place was getting raved reviews from the customers, praising the staff and the delicious food.

Due to the overwhelming turnout, Liam even ordered additional tables and chairs to be set up along the isolated alleyway to handle the crowd. With how isolated the alleyway, there was no reason for them not to use it.

At the end of the day, with all the staff exhausted from the overwhelming work, Giorgio and Liam sat together at a table to tally the earnings for the exhausting day.

“The total earnings for the day has been tallied. We’ve earned $1650. We have some customers tipping the restaurant as they felt bad for paying one dollar when they had a good time in our restaurant.” Giorgio explained.

After receiving the 70% share of $2050 into his bank account from Giorgio, Liam immediately checked his phone. And there it was.

{Chase Bank Account Received $43050. New balance is $43095}

“Yes!” Liam’s heart trembled when he saw his bank account increase in value again. The feeling was extremely addictive to him.

“Now, with word of mouth on the streets, we need to promote our restaurant further by cooperating with influencers, food critics and many more. Internet reviews are important as well, so we have to make sure a satisfactory customer experience is guaranteed!” Liam exclaimed.
