Perspective : Conrad Garnier
As my consciousness drifted into a peaceful slumber, I experienced the sensation of being gently carried by someone. Then I didn't remember anything.I opened my eyes before two nuns, I took in my surroundings, I found that I was placed upon an altar. There I saw statues of a man holding a book, I immediately knew where I was.It was Saint Luis's healing church.Saint Luis's healing church was a religious sect that has established its presence in multiple countries. Centuries ago, a wandering saint, blessed by the goddess of healing, Asclepius, roamed from battlefield to battlefield, using his miraculous healing magic to aid the injured. He showed no discrimination towards any soldiers, irrespective of their affiliation, be it the winning or losing side.During those endeavours he was captured and executed by a king, whose identity was never to be revealed. Later his followers all across the world revered him and worshipped him, soon Saint Luis's healing church sect was founded. The fact that they worshipped an actual person that once existed instead of some phony unseen god makes this sect more authentic and dangerous.I checked for my wounds, but the cut was already healed. Then I felt a familiar presence. The door to the church's hall swung opened, and in a flurry of emotions, she rushed towards me and embraced me tightly, almost as if she was trying to squeeze every ounce of life out of me. It was Regina. If I wasn't dead by that stab wound, I would be dead now, with how tight she was hugging me.With her face buried against my chest her tears streamed down her cheeks as she cried."You scared me to death, You idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot ..... ".I don't know how many times she called me an Idiot, that day. But It was evident that she was worried about me.I calmed her down."I am fine ... stop hitting me or else I will seriously croke this time".She replied,"Don't you dare joke about that".I tenderly grasped her shoulder and delicately lifted her face. Her nose and ears were tinged with a red hue, her eyes were filled with tears. The sunlight illuminated her face, causing it to glisten as tears moistened her cheeks. I gently wiped away her tears and said."Look at me ... I am fine so, stop crying .... okay".Then I embraced her.She asked,"Promise me you will never do such a thing again ..... you will never ever try to leave me alone again".I replied,"I promise".I discovered that I had been out for two whole days. Then someone else appeared in the prayer hall,"How are you doing mister Conrad?".I asked "I think I am fine,Were you the one who healed me?".He said "Oh no .... heavens no, I could never take credit for the work that our benevolent saint does".I thanked him.He replied, "If you must thank someone, thank our saint .... for he is always watching over us".I never liked religious people because they were always so self centred with their religion. Then he introduced himself,"Oh my apologies, it was rude of me to not introduce myself,I am bishop Suleiman of this branch of Saint Luis's healing church".And then I introduced myself and Regina properly as a custom, even if he knew about us already. Then he suggested us to follow him, he gave us a tour of his church, there were water fountains, statues of Saint Luis and a library, nothing a church wouldn't have. All those time I was reminiscing about her, that scent of ash was still lingering in my nose, that one glimpse of her face still danced before my eyes.I was curious and confused that,Whether my mind was playing tricks with me? or she was real and If she was the soul reaper, why was I left alive?( It doesn't make any sense)The questions clouded my mind, so, most of the bishop's superstitious bullshit I didn't heard. Then, he took us towards a magnificent statue of Saint Luis, larger than any I had ever seen in the church. There he asked me,"If you were to shed a part of your worldly possession in this box here and pray to our saint I am sure that our saint would heed your prayers".I have to hand it to him, that was a crafty way for asking donations. If it were any normal day I would have declined, but they saved my life and you can't put money before your own life.I asked,"How much?".He said,"As much as you wish, but more then 2 gold coins would suffice".So I donated 5 gold coins to the church.I wondered what they did with those funds. Anyways, after that I was released from the church, but was under advice to take rest for the remainder of 2 more days. As they had closed my wound but still I had lost quite a significant amount of blood. And to recover those I required rest.Between filling that drinking tab and today's 5 gold coin donation to the church, I was feeling paranoid. The kind of feeling you get when, you spend too much money, so even though you have enough money, you become kinda hesitant to spend anymore. That was exactly how I felt.Regina, on the other hand, held onto my right hand tightly. She clung to me, and I could feel the sensation of her breasts against my skin, a feeling I shouldn't think about . I attempted to ask her to let go, but she appeared genuinely worried for my well-being, so I decided to let it be.Her behavior resembled that of a pet; when you distance yourself from them, they cling to you and demand attention. Yes, that's precisely how she was behaving. The smell of ash was still on my nose, but most of all the smell of gourmet meat, was stronger. I hadn't consumed anything till I woke up so, I was hungry. It seems that both Regina and I haven't eaten anything since morning. So, we decided to have meat skewers from a nearby stand.I bought 4 for 60 coppers which I admit was quite cheap. As we sat on a bench by the side of the road, enjoying our meal, an unexpected moment occurred. In a gentle yet caring gesture, Regina's soft lips brushed against my cheek, leaving me surprised. Instantly, a rush of warmth and care filled the air. I couldn't help but caress my cheek with my hand and ask,"Why did you do that?".With a playful smile she replied,"There was food, on your cheeks".I said "Next time use your hands".Then I saw a crum of food on Regina's cheek, so I used that to demonstrate to her."See .... this is how you do it".I removed the crum with my hand and threw it away. While we were eating out meal. I heard a voice."You sure ..... you are not into her?".It was Thor Gild with some other recognisable faces.I replied,"As sure as I can be?".Thor Gild sighed. and spoke,"Even if you are ....I am not going to give up on her".I said like a guardian,"Over my dead corpse ... Bastard".He replied,"So be it".Regina was confused so she questioned,"What are you guys talking about?".I said, "It's nothing".Then Thor Gild introduced us to his three buddies, that he had generously bought along."Hey Conrad and Regina, this is Brandon and those are Marcus and Robin"."They want to apologise for that day at the party".They were the same guys who picked on Regina that day in the party.Men like him don't change their beliefs in a few days, they must have been coerced on to apologising. The bald man, stood before me and said,"I am sorry for my behaviour that day".I responded by redirecting him,"I am not the one who you should ask for forgiveness , apologise to her".I pointed towards Regina. At first the big guy showed signs of hesitation for a bit, then he sucked up and apologized to Regina,"I am truly sorry for my behaviour that night sister, would you please forgive me".Regina replied in boldness,"Sure ... it's water under the bridge.... but never try to touch me again ... or you will find something precious of, your's missing".I could sense the agony he was in, it was amusing to witness his pitiable state.Like him his cronies too begged for forgiveness, Regina forgave them all. Then, Thor Gild gracefully dropped to his knees, delicately grasping Regina's hands and placing a chivalrous kiss upon them, resembling a noble knight from a tale of old.He said, "My lady, now I must bid you farewell,"He spoke with a hint of longing in his voice. Observing his persistent attempts at winning Regina's attention, my frustration grew, as he seemed to seize every opportunity to flirt with her. After infuriating me, those four left our sight.AndWe returned home, I recuperated for 2 days after which I was once again ready to go adventuring.Perspective : Acheri (Monster)[This is a narration from a monster's point of view, she was human once, but being a monster for centuries, sometimes makes her forget her former identity, you would often see those in this narration, she is a true monster, only memories inside her are human]"Oh dear you must be freezing, come over here".He called me towards him.(Why does he always do this, is he not aware of who I am?)(Or is he just insane?).No one, except this human does this.(Why?) Every time someone saw me, they would shoot arrows and strange orbs at me. So, when he first approached, It was a new experience for me. Besides, I didn't like humans because they were greedy and evil. They were even worse than monsters. They believed their actions and discrimination against others were justified by gods. But we monsters knew nothing about these gods. Some of them are kind but those are easily corrupted. They would stick to hollow notions of self justification, to do unspeakable dee
Perspective: Conrad GarnierIt was another cold day on a series of cold days. As, I struggled to open my eyes, I found them heavy with drowsiness. I gently caressed my cheek, to clear up the stray droplet of droll still sticking in my cheeks. While, stretching my sore limbs, I let out a satisfying yawn.Leaving my bed, I made my way downstairs, descending each step carefully.Down I saw regina preparing breakfast for us, Regina used to cook for us occasionally. As today we had no guild jobs. There was no rush so, I slept till late.We lived in a two-story building that we bought with the help of my connections when we moved here. Our bedrooms, including mine, Regina's, and a guest room, were on the second floor. The lower floor had a kitchen, dining area, toilet, and bathroom. As I yawned once again Regina scolded me,"Haven't you had enough sleep already,Now freshen up, ..... breakfast is ready".I made my way towards the bathroom and washed myself, then me and Regina had our breakf
Perspective : Conrad Garnier................ useful information. ........................The rank of an adventurer is a direct reflection of their strength and abilities. The higher the rank, the greater the power they possess. It is possible to purchase ranks using gold, but be cautious as it could potentially put you in trouble. By doing so, you may be excluded from lower-ranking jobs and assigned only high-risk missions where your life would truly be at stake. Nevertheless, some nobles still choose to buy their ranks, driven by their desire to maintain their pride.Patrick was different, he was surely a noble but his rank had been well earned, his abilities and skills matched the one truly belonging to Orichalcum rank. The adventurer ranks begin with Rank E and go all the way up to Legendary. Initially, adventurers pass through the ranks of E, D, and C as a formality when starting their journey. However, it's important to note that these ranks do not accurately reflect a person's
Perspective : Conrad Garnier.................. Inside Conrad's dream ..............(This isn't)(Where am I?)I found myself on a vast snow covered field, snow and snow, as far as the eye could see.(Yet .... I don't feel any cold) An ethereal stillness hung in the air. That was when, the silence was broken, by the distant sound of crunching footsteps, growing steadily closer, as I turned, my eyes widened in both fear and fascination.Emerging from the fog was a black shadow, Its figure morphed and contorted elongating in unnatural ways.It carried a gleaming knife, with a wicked blade reflecting the moonlight, casting an eerie glow upon the snow, as I ran, the contrast between dark silhouette and luminous surroundings intensified, my sense of danger.(The hell...)(Leave me alone)As, I continued to run, my heart raced and the shadow's feature became more discernible. It's hair was of an otherworldly state of Vibrant green, floated around its face creating an ominous aura.It looke
Perspective : Conrad Garnier As, I glared deep into a never ending hellscape, Thor Gild commented, "If you fell there not even your bones will be found"."I wish .... I could throw you in myself .... but there are too many witnesses".I replied, "Yeah ... you would love that .... won't you?".Thor Gild shrugged. He was clearly revealing his true intentions. so, I had to keep a close watch on him going forward. Sensing the impending danger, I quickly stepped away from the edge, preventing Thor Gild from potentially throwing me into the deep abyss below, as I found myself standing on the brink of an unfathomable chasm. We were traveling for 3 hours straight. Ever since, we left the City of Ustrax this morning. The guild assigned 20 adventurers to this expedition, had some familiar faces and some new ones, that the guild deemed strong enough to let them participate in this wild goose chase. They gave us three carriages worth of supplies and 4 carriages for carrying us . Because we were
Perspective: Conrad GarnierAfter hearing that howl we weren't going to back out, even though there could be 50 to 70 wolves waiting for us out there. Why, you ask?Because our convoy was filled with lunatics, lunatics that were dying to show off. It was crazy as most of them were happy instead of being scared. They wanted a challenge, and there in front of us was a challenge, "a challenge where they can go all out."As we stepped into the forest, the loud sound of the wolves howling became even louder. But the strong war cry of the adventurers was even louder than that. I would be lying, If I said, that I wasn't excited, because my heart beat had fastened a million fold and the excitement I felt was immeasurable. We were adventurers afterall, we lived for all that shit. This was etched in our blood, in our soul and in our very being of existence. As soon as we entered the forest, adventurers jumped out of their carts to face whatever was coming.I heard the voice of our expedition l
Perspective: Conrad GarnierThe winds grew colder as we went inside, the trees were so tall and huge that they were blocking all the sunlight, as I felt a chill running up and down my spine, Regina covered me with a shroud.I thanked her, and since she too was shivering in the cold I took her in with me.We snuggled up.The carriage forward was hazy due to the snow storm, that had started when we entered the forest. For a moment there, I felt as If we were the only souls present on the whole world.I knew I shouldn't feel like that since, I regard Regina as my sister but feelings are something you can never have control over. You can suppress them, disregard them but at the end of the day they remain deep inside you buried, yearning to be let out."But Regina is still my sister".The forest was dark, every light from the sun had been obstructed by those huge trees which were stretching to the skies above. It was dark and yet comforting, but our comfort didn't lasted for long, It had o
Perspective : Conrad GarnierMy hands were hurting, my whole body felt sore, my head felt heavy and my eyes, I was barely able to keep them open. The chilling air caressed my cheeks as I felt extreme fatigue from casting all those spells. My mana pool was almost completely drained, It needed to be recovered, I needed rest, as did other spell casters that were casting spells left and right continuously, a few hours ago. Not only was I extremely hungry, the dead body at my carriage was starting to release a pungent oder. And we were at the middle of a forest that we knew nothing about, at any moment something might surprise us.As I was about to doze off again. It was when he spoke to me, Kyle Bonfrost, he didn't look as beat up as we were, and I didn't remember him doing anything during the fight other than barking orders. He dawned himself with a glistening silver armour, though a little rusty around the corners, his hair was red, he had a well groomed beard adorning his chin, In his h
