Perseus glanced at the woman, who was shivering under his gaze. He didn't realize how scary he looked to the woman.

“I don't understand what you are talking about.” Mrs. Jeremiah said.

“You don't?” Perseus' voice was menacing.

Mrs. Jeremiah took one step back and landed on her buttocks. “This is an orphanage, and the kids get adopted by families.”

Perseus' silence made her continue.

“Joey was getting adopted today. I was about to tell Jose about it.”

“My sister doesn't want to get adopted,” Jose whispered.

Perseus held Jose tight. “Who is adopting her? I have to meet them.”

Blood drained from Mrs. Jeremiah's face. “There is no need. She is only getting adopted; all kids would be glad if they were adopted.”

I saw that the woman wasn't willing to tell him anything. Perseus reached out for the system.

“Truth potion, please.”

Iris sprayed the potion in the air, and Mrs. Jeremiah sniffed it.
