Without hesitation, the men handed Bett the syringe. It was medium-sized and filled with a blue substance that seemed almost alive as it moved within the syringe. The color was unpleasant, as was the smell.

Bett wasted no time. He injected himself with the substance, a grin plastered on his face.

“This feeling is so good,” he mumbled.

The blue liquid moved visibly through his veins, spreading across his body and making his smile grow even wider. The device on his back moved in rhythm with the liquid. When he was done, he tossed the syringe and crushed it under his feet.

Flexing his arm, he tilted his head back and forth, the blue substance visibly crawling up his neck to his head. As it reached his brain, Bett groaned. The liquid crawled to his eyes, and in three seconds, his eyes closed and then reopened, looking normal.

Bett glanced at his hand. Although there were no visible changes, he felt the energy and power surging through him.
