A couple of days, specifically thirteen days, went by in a breeze, and somehow… my body went into shape. It didn’t just form muscles and made me healthier. I looked like a fucking muscle builder. Okay, that was a bit of an exaggeration, but I was a new man with tanks in both of my arms. And my stamina improved. Before, I could only run that much, and I found myself gasping for air. But not right now. After doing this for a few days, nearly for two weeks, I finally got the hang out if. And all those challenging routines finally kicked in me. I was dubious at first, unsure if the results would betray me. But it didn’t. It turned out, every little bit of training Captain Israel had passed on me was something I should cherish. And since the day was longer in Kepler, it made me use my time more efficiently than on Earth. That wasn’t the only thing that changed. “Think fast, Arata!” Captain Israel shouted, and threw a bunch of gravel from the ground. But instead of running as a fucking ba
The final day approached us. We spent two weeks on this island doing nothing but training our minds, bodies, and our stomachs. Those pirates worked on fixing the boat, while some had to focus on other activities like cooking and caring for the sick. There was not a boring day on the island. Our resources shortened every day, and our sanity grew thinner by every minute. If we stay here for any longer, everyone would die either from the dearth of food or from the marine beasts chasing after us in our direction. Even though the pirates were capable warriors, they were not prepared for this fight. Usually, these people exchanged blows with armies and a few creatures left and right, battling them while exploring the seas. The kraken and the megalodon were the ultimate foe for them. Captain Israel was different. She had fought more ferocious enemies and powerful beings, but this one topped the charts. It was unlike anything she had seen before.I wasn’t a part of this voyage lately. It jus
After saying those words, the pirates raised their hand-made weapons and performed a battle cry of their lifetime. Nobody rejected Captain Israel’s offer. And everyone claimed we were sailing the same boat, literally and metaphorically. As soon as the chanting ended, Captain Israel told me that I should follow her to some place in the boat that nobody could hear us. I accepted her request and went along with it. Within a couple of moments when we were finally alone, Captain Israel returned my gaze and uttered.“I’m sorry to drag you into this… But I need your help.” Captain Israel then averted her gaze and watched the pirates celebrate as they prepared themselves the battle of their lifetime. She then returned her look to me and continued, “I can’t do this without you. I’m asking you this not because we have a contract or your a slave… guest or anything. I’m asking as someone who cares about these pirates. They are the only ones I have.”I… remembered saying those words to myself… “Ki
This part of the ocean still remained inside my memories. The battle we had in this place was epic, but it almost took our lives. We still wondered how we were still alive. And as the tide splashed the walls of our ship, the more we could sense that doom was creeping closer in our skin in the form of various fish. It would take approximately around five to ten minutes to kill all of these creatures, and another thirty minutes to leave this place and proceed to the safezone. The safezone, according to Captain Israel, was a site free from any monsters and the like. It was a place where nobody could get hurt. Captain Israel marked my map and told me the specific area where the ship could stay in the safezone. And that location was close to the horizon. However, it wasn’t that easy. Before we could even reach the safezone, we had to deal with a myriad of monsters coming in our way for thirty minutes. And thirty minutes wasn’t that long. Not to mention, we had yet fought against the boss
[Congratulations! You have now used [Corsair]! You have now access to lightning abilities, coming from the pirate thug!] An alert popped up in front of me. It came from my system.I could not use the lightning power to move as fast as the thunder because I didn’t own the spell. I just stole or copied a portion of it. But if I really had to, maybe I could test my limit and see through my capabilities as a corsair. However, it might prove to be a challenging feat to do. If I could use it to boost my movement speed, there was a chance I could not control my power, and that skill could lead me to my doom. So I chose to use it as a weapon besides as a utility magic. And it served its purpose. At least, that was what I had thought.Once I absorbed and copied the lightning spell, just like before, I had access to all electric abilities that this girl had. But the spells she could not learn were not passed by to me. Although this restricted me from tapping the woman’s potential, I had an ent
The murky shadow below the ocean still haunted our eyes. But I averted my orbs and focused on the battle of what was ahead of us. There was no point in worrying about something that had yet to happen. These monsters of small-fries kept coming in the ship. We had to stop it. After instructing the pirates, they went to their positions and did their roles as I had told them. Not one defied my commands, which shocked me to the bones. But I pushed the thoughts aside and focused more on what to do for the remaining time. Right now, three minutes had already passed by, and the lighting covering my sword was fading out. My rapier was a decent weapon against those monsters. It never became dull. But with the electric current added to my blade, it served me four times better than the regular one I had.So just before three minutes had lapsed by, I renewed the ability and copied the same lightning spell that the pirate had. Three minutes had gone by, and we had twenty two minutes to arrive towa
I thought that we had them within eighteen minutes. As soon as the monkeys arrived, another three minutes passed by, and now we were down to fifteen minutes. It was not bad. And not a single boss bit us from behind. But I had thought wrong. The battle had just begun. The horde of boss-like monsters finally entered the fray and created tidal waves enough to move the boat in a zigzag manner. These crashed waves created by the beasts even attempted to move us back from where we had come from, away from our destination. Thankfully, Captain Israel got us covered as she steered the boat. I got her back and protected Captain Israel as she put her hands on the steering wheel and navigated her way towards our original path. However, we also had to deal with the raging marine fiends below the water. And they didn’t come friendly. It would take me a few hours or minutes to describe every monster that appeared in the ocean. But I could name a few. The kraken and the megalodon boss also appear
We only had twelve minutes to win and survive what was about to happen. After finding out the weak spots of the monsters, Captain Israel offered all the pirate crew and herself to me as I became the temporary general for this brigade. “What are you planning us to do, Arata? Just say the word, and the pirates are yours to command,” Captain Israel stated, with her eyes looking into mine. Not that in a romantic way…“I need you to hit the glowing thingy on…” I paused for a second, reminding myself that these dumbasses were blind as fuck. It was not because they were ill. My selfish system had a mind of its own and decided to resent anyone who wished to have this prowess of mine. So instead of telling the pirates to attack the creatures with the “glowing thingy” I told them… “Do you see that limb over there?”“What do you mean by that ‘thingy?’” Captain Israel asked.I yelled, 1 cracking my voice, “THAT LIMB, YOU….” I held back the word I wanted to say as I left a horrible grunt while ma
