"Where's my tuxedo, damn it?!" a man with an arrogant face shouted furiously in his room. His voice boomed loudly, echoing beyond the room.
Alexis stumbled forward, clutching a cane to guide his steps as he was blind. Approaching the man, who was around 55 years old, Alexis handed over the tuxedo.
"Here's your tuxedo, Mr. Howard Cornell," Alexis said, his blonde hair catching the faint light, holding the neatly hung tuxedo out.
"You're so slow!" Howard snatched it roughly, glanced at it, then threw it back at Alexis' face. "You idiot! This isn't the navy tuxedo I told you to clean, damn it! I told you to clean the black one!"
Alexis trembled. "I-I'm sorry, Dad I'll prepare it—"
"You're useless!" Howard shouted, kicking Alexis' cane away, sending it skidding far across the room. He stormed off, leaving Alexis behind in a storm of rage.
Alexis took a deep breath, trying to hold back his frustration. He had endured humiliation nearly every moment in this house.
He knelt down and felt around the floor, searching for his cane.
"Alexis! Alexis! Where are you, huh?!" Lenora shouted. "Did he run off?! Oh, shit!" A shrill voice rang out from beyond the room. A brunette woman with striking blue eyes appeared, her youthful looks belying her 45 years.
"I'm here, Mom," Alexis called out softly, standing up when he found his cane.
Entering the room, Lenora shouted, "What are you doing in my bedroom, huh?! Are you stealing?!"
"N-no! I was delivering Mr. Howard's tuxedo," Alexis explained quickly, his voice panicked.
"Why were you looking for me, Mom?" added Alexis, changing the subject.
"Stop calling me that disgusting title! Call me ‘Madam,’ especially in front of guests! Got it?!"
"S-Sorry, Mrs. Lenora Cornell."
"Good." Lenora smirked. "Did you prepare the dinner yet?! The Morris heir will be here soon!" She demanded sharply. "You better make sure everything is perfectly set on the table! Don’t you dare embarrass the Cornell family!!"
"You don’t have to worry. Everything is ready as you requested," Alexis replied with a polite smile.
"I’ll check it myself! If anything is out of place, I’ll kill you!" Lenora stormed off, leaving her son-in-law in silence.
Alexis sighed quietly, forcing himself to remain calm. Despite the constant mistreatment, he continued to show respect because they were his wife’s parents.
He retreated to his room for a brief rest. He had been awake since dawn, cleaning the mansion as large as a golf course and preparing everything for the luxurious dinner at Howard and Lenora’s orders.
"Honey," Alexis called softly to his wife, Zelle Cornell, who was busy applying makeup at her vanity. "I hope you can secure the contract with the Morris family. It would make Grandpa Carlos proud."
Although Alexis had no role in Zelle’s efforts to secure the partnership with Morris Corp, he felt he had done his part by organizing the dinner and ensuring everyone’s attire was ready.
The Morris family was the wealthiest in the United States and the world, controlling nearly every major industry, from mining to construction and gold.
The entire Cornell family had waited years for this opportunity, even willing to do anything to obtain the partnership.
"Stay out of it," Zelle snapped while applying her striking red lipstick. "Just focus on your tasks and don’t mess up this important dinner."
Alexis clenched his jaw slightly, suppressing his disappointment. No one in the house respected him except Carlos Cornell, Zelle’s grandfather. Carlos was the third richest man in the world as the owner of Cornell Corp.
Unfortunately, Carlos had been in a coma for over a year due to a chronic heart condition, which was unsurprising given his age of 85.
Since then, the Cornell family had turned into monsters. They treated Alexis like a servant, forcing him to do menial labor because no one defended him anymore—not even his wife.
By 8 p.m., the Morris family was expected to arrive. The Cornell clan gathered in the grand lobby to welcome Vincenzo Morris, the Morris heir, while Alexis was ordered to stay in the kitchen and not show his face unless summoned.
Soon, a sleek Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of the Cornell estate, flanked by other luxury cars.
A handsome young man in a sharp, expensive tuxedo stepped out, exuding an aura of authority.
"Welcome, Mr. Vincenzo," Howard and Lenora greeted him first as Carlos’ eldest son and daughter-in-law, followed by the other family members.
They led Vincenzo to the grand dining room, where an opulent feast awaited. The dining set gleamed with gold and silver accents. Vincenzo took his seat at the head of the table.
"Where’s Zelle?" Vincenzo asked, his deep voice commanding attention.
"She’s finishing up in her room, Mr. Vincenzo," Lenora replied with an unwavering smile. "She’ll be down shortly."
While several maids served the lavish meal, Alexis entered carefully, carrying a bowl of soup.
"Why do you have a blind man working in your home?" Vincenzo asked disdainfully, eyeing Alexis with obvious disgust.
"I’m actually the—"
"Because we pity him," Lenora interrupted quickly, her voice slightly tense. "He’s an orphan and blind, so no one willing to employ him. Since he came from one of Carlos’ orphanages, we decided to give him work here out of kindness."
"I admire your generosity," Vincenzo remarked coldly. "To take in garbage like him."
'Garbage?' Alexis clenched his fists tightly but chose to stay silent, swallowing the pain of their constant rejection.
Moments later, Zelle descended the grand staircase, wearing a stunning red dress with a daring neckline. Her movements were graceful, catching everyone’s attention.
"You look beautiful, darling," Vincenzo said, rising to kiss her forehead.
"Thank you, dear," Zelle responded, blushing slightly.
Alexis froze at the sound of the voice. It was painfully familiar.
"Why did you call Mr. Vincenzo 'darling,' Zelle?" Alexis asked carefully, not wanting to jump to conclusions.
"That’s obvious, Alexis," Vincenzo interrupted. "Because Zelle is my fiancée."
"What?!" Alexis exclaimed, his hands trembling as the soup bowl slipped and shattered on the marble floor, shards scattering dangerously close to Vincenzo’s feet.
"How dare you claim Zelle as your fiancée when she’s already my wife!" Alexis shouted angrily.
"Are you joking?" Vincenzo snapped, glaring at Alexis.
The entire Cornell family stiffened as the argument erupted. They were at a loss, knowing their secret had been exposed. They had warned Alexis to keep quiet at all costs.
"That’s not true!" Lenora denied. "Don’t believe his nonsense, Mr. Vincenzo. He’s just a liar. There’s no way a blind man like him could be married to our beautiful, accomplished daughter."
She turned to Alexis with a sharp glare. "Right, Alexis?"
Lenora stared at Alexis sharply, hoping he still remembered her threat earlier that morning that she wouldn’t hesitate to throw him out if he revealed his status to Vincenzo. "Why are you asking me that, Mom? I’m Zelle’s husband," Alexis said, trying to stay polite, even though anger boiled inside him. He didn’t mind being treated like a servant by his in-laws, but he couldn’t accept them giving Zelle to another man. Earlier, Lenora had ordered Alexis to hide his marital status from the Morris family, claiming it would help Zelle secure a business contract with Vincenzo. Without much thought, Alexis agreed because he loved Zelle and wanted to support her dreams. However, he never imagined the way they intended to secure the contract was by making Zelle Vincenzo’s lover. The realization broke Alexis’ heart. He had spent so much effort helping Zelle and the Cornell family, only to welcome her affair. "Mom?" Vincenzo repeated, his eyebrows furrowed. "Did I hear that right? Did
“You’ve got to be kidding! There’s no way this bastard inherited all of my father’s wealth!” Howard protested angrily.“But that’s exactly what’s written in the will, Mr. Howard,” Marcus explained politely.“Give it to me!” Howard snatched the will from Marcus roughly and read it thoroughly, his eyes narrowing with disbelief. “FUCK!" Howard threw the paper onto the floor and lunged at his father, grabbing his neck. “How dare you leave everything to this bastard! Have you completely forgotten about your own family?!”“Stop it, Mr. Howard! You’re going to hurt him!” Marcus and a few doctors rushed to pull Howard away from Mr. Carlos. “I don’t care! He deserves to die!” Howard shouted, completely losing control. No one in the Cornell family stepped forward to stop him, their silence felt like approval. Suddenly, the piercing sound of a heart monitor alarm filled the room. Carlos’s body convulsed, and panic erupted.“What’s happening?” Marcus asked, his voice filled with worry, while
"No. I won’t divorce her," Alexis said firmly, making Zilda and Mikaela seethe in anger.Zelle smirked slyly at her aunt and cousin. "You’d better leave before I call security.""No," Zilda refused. "You can’t just kick us out that easily, you tramp." We won’t let you take all of Carlos’s inheritance, Zilda thought bitterly.Zelle glared at her. "How dare you call me that, you bastard!" She lunged at Zilda, but Howard suddenly appeared. "Stop it, Zelle," Howard ordered coldly before turning to Zilda, Mikaela, and the rest of the family. "I need to talk to all of you. Follow me." He walked out, and the others followed, leaving Alexis alone in confusion. "What is it?" Zilda asked sarcastically. "I want us to work together," Howard said, his tone authoritative. "Work together?" "Yes. We’ll convince Alexis to sign the declaration. Then, we’ll split Carlos’s inheritance fairly among us. How does that sound?" Howard explained confidently. Helen and her husband, Adam, exchanged
The Cornell family was at the peak of their power, having successfully taken control of Carlos’s wealth. Zelle had become the CEO of Cornell Corp, thanks to her pivotal role in seizing her grandfather's inheritance from Alexis.Zelle stepped out of her Lamborghini and walked gracefully toward the company lobby, surrounded by hundreds of reporters. The reporters swarmed around her like a cluster of ants."Is it true that you and Mr. Vincenzo are getting married in a week?""Is your marriage with Mr. Vincenzo meant to strengthen the partnership between the two conglomerate families?"Zelle flashed a friendly smile at the cameras. "Yes, Vincenzo and I will be getting married soon, right after he is officially named the sole heir of the Morris family.""When will the official ceremony be held? Will you and the Cornell family attend?""Of course!" Zelle smiled confidently. "Because I’m his fiancée.""What’s your response to being named the most powerful couple in the USA?"Zelle chuckled a
"YOU BASTARD, RAYMOND!" Vincenzo shouted angrily in Raymond’s office. "How dare you postpone my inauguration as heir's Morris again! Are you tired of living, huh?!""Sorry, Mr. Vincenzo. But Morris Corp is dealing with internal issues. I need to resolve them first—""I don’t care! That’s your problem, not mine! What’s the point of Mr. Simson still paying you all this time, huh?!" Vincenzo cursed."I’ve been waiting for this moment for years, ever since Mr. Simson passed! Now you’re messing it up!""But—""I don’t want to hear it! You have to hold that event next week! Got it?!" Vincenzo had already announced the official ceremony date to the world. If the Cornell family found out it was canceled, he’d be humiliated."Sorry, I still can’t do that," Raymond politely refused. "The earliest would be a month from now. If you don’t agree, I can cancel it at any time," he said with a slight edge of threat."Bastard!" Vincenzo grabbed Raymond’s collar and glared at him. "How dare you threaten
"Alexis? Are you still alive?" "Yeah. As you can see," Alexis replied coldly. Mikaela glanced at Alexis with disgust. The green-eyed man was wearing a black tuxedo that looked cheap. "How did you even get into this upscale nightclub?" "I—" "Oh, I know!" Mikaela cut him off with a mocking laugh. "You must be a waiter here." "Can you stop insulting me?" Alexis snapped back. "Sure, but only if you were a rich man. I'd even be willing to lick your shoes," Mikaela said sarcastically. "Unfortunately, that's never going to happen because you’ll never be rich in your lifetime." Alexis lifted his chin. "What if I can prove you wrong?" Mikaela chuckled. "I’d sooner believe a rooster can lay eggs than believe you’re wealthy." She turned away and started walking toward the entrance. "Why are you following me?" Mikaela protested. "This door is for VIP guests only!" "I'm a VIP guest too." Mikaela burst into laughter. "Are you kidding me?" she mocked. "You need an access card
Alexis slowly opened his eyes. A sharp, unbearable pain seized his head."Where am I? What happened? Why does my head hurt so much?" Alexis wondered, finding himself lying in an unfamiliar room.He was shocked to find a woman lying next to him, completely naked.“Mikaela?!” Alexis sat up suddenly.“How could she be lying next to me? Did we—” He quickly shook his head. ‘No! There’s no way I slept with her!’Mikaela shifted slightly before waking up to the sound of Alexis's loud exclamation. "You're so noisy, idiot—" she suddenly sat up when she recognized his voice."What the hell are you doing in my room? What did you do to me?!" Mikaela covered her naked body with the blanket."Don't misunderstand! I didn’t rape you! I don’t even remember how we ended up in this room—"SLAP!“Liar!” Mikaela yelled, tears streaming down her face. “Is this how you get your revenge on me?!”“I’m not some bastard!” Alexis defended himself. “I hate you and your family, but I would never use such dirty met
“Get Alexis out,” Raymond ordered.“Are you sure? He’s the suspect the Greyson family reported, Mr. Raymond,” the warden explained politely.“Just follow my orders, or you’ll regret it.” Raymond glared at him.“Y-yes, sir.” With trembling hands, the warden unlocked the cell and released Alexis.“I’m sorry I arrived late, young master.”“No problem.”'Young master?'The two exited the building and got into a car.“What exactly happened, Mr. Alexis? How did you end up in prison?” Raymond asked, still in shock after receiving a call from Alexis’s bodyguard, who had secretly been following him.“It’s all because of Wayne Greyson and his father.” Alexis growled, his voice full of rage. “Wayne framed me and created a scenario that made it look like I assaulted Mikaela. That gave the Cornell family a reason to throw me in jail.”“He’s gone too far.”“Exactly. I want you to cancel the partnership with the Greyson Corp.”“I’ll take care of it right away, young master.”***“How about it, Dad?
