Chapter 7

She attended dance classes and girls from the background glared at her.

"Can you believe her? She's grieving for Bo and still acting like a main character."

Harley stopped dancing and she walked towards them. "Can you believe that we're having dance classes and you're back there mouthing about what's none of your business?"

Yvonne stepped forward. "Bo was our coursemate, she's our business too."

Harley clenched her teeth.

"You act like everything's not a big deal! Why don't you get out of your fantasy world and stop acting like everyone's jealous of you."

Harley was taken aback. "I never said that."

"Yeah but you certainly act that way." Yvonne said hurt.

Her lip trembled.

Keisha walked in with shopping bags, a yellow crop top, camouflage mini skirt, pop socks and baseball boots. She just went shopping.

"Ley Ley!"

"Keish!" Harley brightened up.

"You're late for class."

"As if I care. Ares just let me loose, I can do whatever the hell I want. Ah, I'm so excited."

Keisha was a Phoenix girl, with the powers of pyre. A servant of Ares. She was at least seventy and died resurrecting. She was the same age as Harley.

"Of course you are."

"You're early this time. Is it your stick in the mud boyfriend again. Imma give him a piece of my mind."

Harley sighed. "I wasn't home yesterday. How was your trip?"

Keisha turned sad. "I went to see my nieces, my nephews. I'm basically a goddess to them. But I gotta pretend I'm just a grandkid."

"That's around everyone else but they know I'm their great aunt. It's just weird. Takes some getting use to." She vented.

"I can relate."

"You look like you ate lemons. What's wrong baby?"

"I miss Bo." She said.

"Eh I miss her too. It hasn't been that long anyway."

"Yeah but Yvonne's making such a big deal out of her death."

"Not that bitch again." Keisha said staring at Yvonne talking to her group. She had choppy brown hair, toned arms, she wore a grey tanktop, camouflage pants and sneakers with wristbands.

"Ugh she wearing camo too. But it is a big deal for her." Said Keisha.

"Yeah but what am I supposed to do. Hide in the shadows? She's clearly trying to intimidate me."

Keisha grimaced. "I think Yvonne's just hurt and down on herself."

"I thought you'd support me!"

"But I do support you. This take a little bit of understanding."

"I don't have to explain myself to anyone!" Harley yelled.

She stood up. "If she can't handle her grief properly then she's the problem. Not me."

Keisha froze.

Harley walked to the apartment.

"Maks? Maks!"

"In the kitchen." He said fixing a lightbulb.

She folded her arms.

"How was your trip last night?"

She softened about yesterday with Sam. Then lifted her chin. "Fine, I had to check up on my father."

"That's cool."

"I have a problem, some girl named Yvonne just came at me because she thinks that I think that Bo's death is not a big deal. I mean I have my life to live. She's just not ready to move on."

She walked over to pass him a screw. "What's your opinion on this?"

"Want me to be honest?"

"Yes."

He took the screw and fixed it. "You sound spoiled."

"Bo was my friend. Not hers. I should be the one grieving a_"

"There's proof. You just said it yourself, you should be hurt."

Harley's eyes watered. "I can't believe you're taking her side!"

"I'm not taking her side. I'm just telling it like it is, man." He shrugged.

She gasped and pushed the screws far away from him.

Harley pounded on the floor growling. She wanted to take her drama online to see if she had any supporters but she was worried that she would receive much backlash. Keisha said so, Maks said so.

She sniffed, it wasn't fair for her to grieve properly. Her life was a heaving mess and she couldn't even pretend that everything was okay anymore.

She was surrounded by so many friends but was still so isolated. She brushed her eyes, she needed to stop and think.

Bo was a Chinese American, she was cursed by a dragon because her family had refused to cultivate Qi and become awakeners. Bo felt that she could not cultivate properly until she found out that she had the ability to absorb kinetic energy and release it in full force.

Unlike Harley, Bo was open with everyone even though she could be intense sometimes. She was free spirited and hung around everyone, even Yvonne.

Harley wanted to believe that she could take things in stride but she was also harming others around her including Maks.

She froze and then peeked at Maks eating his lunch.

Yvonne stared at pictures of her and Bo together. She was always second place in Bo's life because she was majorly with Harley and Keisha.

She brushed her eyes, Harley made her feel inferior.

She frowned, just because she felt that way. Didn't mean it was true.

"Yvonne."

She glared at her. "What do you want?"

"I've been a diva lately and I'm sorry, I didn't know how much Bo meant to you."

"But I'm not changing who I am for you. I just have my way of dealing with this stuff."

Yvonne clenched her fist. She didn't have to be in competition with Harley. All her life as a middle child she was always forgotten and her feelings were discarded.

She was surprised that Harley was apologizing. "Thanks but...I think I'll handle this on my own."

"That's fine by me but can we at least be friends. I don't think it's fine we have to be caught up in this drama."

Yvonne quirked her eyebrow, she remembered how Harley dealt with Evie when she crossed her boundaries. She didn't want to be second or third place like her but Yvonne realised she was also acting like an entitled victim.

"Sure." They shook hands.

They hugged. "Thank you."

Yvonne held her and closed her eyes.

"Here's my number, if you ever wanna talk."

"Yeah." She held the card. "We'll see."
