ROOAR!

The leopard dire beast swung it's paws at Theo, with the intent to smash him into meatpaste.

"Hmph!" Theo snorted, sending his punch towards the incoming paw.

BOOM!

The leopard dire beast flew smashing into a tree, it's paw already smashed into bloody paste.

Aiden dashed towards the half dead beast, smashing open it's skull with a single punch.

-[You have leveled up!]

-[You have recieved +5 stat points]

Theo punched a fist through the chest of the dire beast, bringing out the shiny power core. He swiftly absorbed it.

-[You have recieved +40 stat points]

Theo moaned in ectasy as he enjoyed the feeling of refreshment his increase in strength brought. After killing five dire beasts, he finally leveled up!

Although they were just mere level one dire beasts, the benefits they brought weren't small in any way!

 Theo excitedly checked his progress.

"With this sort of strength, i am confident that no existence in the novice rank can threaten me!" Theo was quite confident.

"But come to think of it, i haven't heard of that primal something dragon system" Theo mused.

[Brat, i am Izreel!] Theo head the powerful voice of Izreel boom in his head.

"Wait! you can talk?" Theo was surprised.

[I am your bloodline. Why can't i talk?] Izreel scoffed.

"Awesome! so does that mean i can use you now?"

[You? don't make me laugh!] Izreel sneered.

 "But.."

[Brat, let me tell you the truth. You are goddamn weak. Heck, you can't even withstand one billionth of my power]

"Shameless boasting" Theo rolled his eyes.

He didn't believe Izreel was that powerful. He just thought that as a dragon, Izreel had his pride.

[Think what you want brat!" Izreel went silent.

"Damn you smelly dragon. I don't need you anyways" Theo punched a tree in fraustration.

He plomped on the ground, bringing out some roast beef and soda from his storage watch.

"Damn, when would i awaken a principle magic huh?" Theo mused as he began munching on his food.

Two days passed and to Theo's puzzlement, he didn't find a single dire beast no matter how he searched.

"Don't tell me i killed all the dire beasts in this forest?" Theo thought but instantly rejected this notion.

According to the memories of the previous host, this forest always had an average of two ruins rifts per day.

Ruins were special gateways that connected to another plane of reality where other races resided.

The most prominent visitors from ruins were the direbeasts, but infact other races would randomly pop up.

Races like the Elves, Dwarfs, Orks, Ogres, etc.

Just as Theo was musing over this, he heard heavy sound of boots making contact with the ground. And the footsteps were heading towards his direction.

Theo got into a battle stance, ready for any battle.

"Yo. What are you doing here kid?" he heard a boyish voice said.

Theo looked in shock at the new comer. It was a boy??

The boy seemed to be the same age as him, wearing a battle gear that looked like an armor but more flexible.

On his arm was the insignia of a silver Eagle and a single bronze leaf underneath.

"What did you just call me?" Theo stared at the boy warily.

Although this guy looked human, he was aware that some alien races had the ability to transform into humans.

"A kid yeah?" the boy smiled walking closer to Theo.

"Kid?" Theo didn't know wether to laugh or cry.

This guy was literally in the same age group as him.

"My name is Cosmo. I am a single bronze leaf page. Who are you?" Cosmo ploped on the ground with his butt.

Theo was shocked by how relaxed Cosmo was. He couldn't help but ask.

"Are you not afraid that i might sneak attack you?"

 "Why?" Cosmo asked lazily.

"Well, some alien races can take the form of a human. What if i am one of them?"

 "But are you?"

Theo smiled. He was starting to like this guy.

"My name is Theo" he introduced as he sat besides Cosmo.

"Let me guess, you are a student of Cloudy school and here to farm power cores" Cosmo chuckled.

"How do you know?" Theo laughed.

"Well, power cores are really expensive huh. A single one from even a level one novice rank dire beast can sell for ten dynocores. That's alot for a student yunno"

"But also risky. Do you know, there are even intermediate level existences in this Zeltic forest?"

"Then what are you doing here?" Theo probed.

"You don't know what a Paige is?" Cosmo sounded surprised.

"Uh.." Theo trailed off as he tried searching the former host memories.

"Hilarious. You must be one of those country bumpkins. But wait, even bumpkins know what a Paige is, hahaha!" Cosmo burst into laughter.

The veins on Theo's forehead bulged. You don't have to laugh at my ignorance, dammit!

"Fine fine. I will tell you" Cosmo saw that Theo was starting to take offense so he stopped making fun of the latter.

"Paiges are what you call beginner level Knights. You know what Knights are right?"

"No" Theo replied with a poker face, inwardly cussing at the former host for being an ignorant bastard.

"WTF! what hole did you climb out from?" Cosmo was thoroughly flabbergasted.

Even Alien races knew who Knights were!

"Just explain already, dammit!" Theo was starting to get fed up of Cosmo's 'beating around the bush' tactic.

"Alright" Cosmo did his best to hold down the laughter from exploding.

"Let me explain the three arms of combat. Spartans, Samurais, Mercenaries, Pirates , Mariners and Knights"

"Spartans are the Military world wide. The Spartans are tasked with protecting the regions they are dispatched to, explore top secret danger zones and protect the public from harm. The Spartans all listen to their leader, the Venerated Generalissom"

"Moving on are the Samurais. They are a military force like the Spartans, except they only take orders from their Leiges. They are more like retainers"

Hearing this explaination, Theo found out that the Samurais from the Edo era and the Samurais from this world shared some similarities.

"Third are the Mercs. They are a group of lawless hooligans. They can do anything for money. They indulge in a variety of jobs. Being hired killers, robbers, mafias, thugs, gangsters, etc. One of the Spartans jobs is to apprehend these people. They are criminals"

"Fourth are the Pirates. They are just like the Mercenaries, except they operate in water ways. They are extremely difficult to deal with"

"Fifth are the Mariners. They operate like the Spartans except they are more into water ways. One of their jobs is to apprehend Pirates"

"Lastly are the Knights" Cosmo had a look of pride when he spoke.

"Knights explore dangerous ruins, prevent ruins rifts and fight off alien races"

"Being a Knight comes with alot of responsibilities and braving dangers. But that is just the downside. The pros is, Knights are filthy rich. Without even selling the power cores, just selling a dire beast or alien race carcass to an Alchemist for Theory research would fetch alot of money. Not to mention it could be crafted into armaments and sold or auctioned off at a sky high price"

"Plus, for every Ruins trip, a Knight is paid nothing less than five hundred dynocores upward by the Magic Knight Association. Tell me, isn't that amazing?" Cosmo's eyes were blazing with desire.

Knight! holding such a title came with a lot of respect, luxury and fame!

"Yeah. Knights are amazing alright" Theo agreed with Cosmo's logic.

Infact, he even felt tempted to join the Magic Knights Association.

Money? he didn't care about that. What he truly cared about were the power cores which gave him stat points!

But he knew being a Knight wasn't going to be easy.

"Actually, i am here to clear this Zeltic forest from these dire beasts. If i successfully do, i would be able to get achievement points which would increase my ranking" it was unknown whether Cosmo was speaking to Theo or venting out his frustration.

"But the boss of this Zeltic forest is a mid tier intermediate rank porcupine dire beast. It is a Silver Needle Porcupine" Cosmo sighed depressingly.

"What level of cultivation are you?" Theo enquired.

"Heh. I just broke through into the first level of the intermediate rank. I don't have a chance at all" Cosmo sighed.

"Intermediate rank?!" Theo forgot himself and screamed in shock.

Wasn't this guy the same age as him? just how the hell did he cultivate huh?

"Surprised to see a young intermediate rank mage like me? tsk, that's nothing much. I enrolled for the Knight programme at the age of six. Thanks to the many power cores gotten from my ruins exploration, i purchased many serums, elixirs and pills, thus my huge progress"

"So you mean you spent nine plus years, yet you are still a Paige, and a low ranked one at that?" Theo found it inconcievable.

Was becoming a Knight really that difficult?

"Becoming a Knight isn't a one day thing bro. Apart from personal strength, you must also accumulate experience" Cosmo shook his head.

Theo contemplated for a bit then spoke up.

"How many dire beasts have you killed?"

"Uhm. Hundred plus novice rank. Ninety primary rank and two level one intermediate rank. Why do you ask?"

"If you manage to defeat that boss, how would it affect your ranking?" Theo threw another question.

Although Cosmo thought Theo was rather acting weird, he didn't think too much about it.

"If i defeat it? rising up to the rank of a two bronze leaf Paige is all but certain"

"Good. What if i can help you defeat that boss? but in return, i want all the power cores you had on you, excluding the boss own"

Although Theo felt he was being greedy here, he didn't mind.

He was taking a gamble. Gambling that rising through the ranks was more important to Cosmo compared to 'some' power cores.

"Pft" Cosmo burst into an amused fit of laughter.

"Hehe. You have a good sense of humor. Thanks for livening up my mood bruh" he patted Theo's shoulder.

"Dude, i'm serious here. I can really help you defeat that porcupine dire beast boss" Theo's tone grew serious.

"Impossible. You are just a level two novice rank mage. Even if you are a peerless genius, you can at most give a level three novice rank mage a good fight. How can you possibly go up against a mid tier intermediate rank dire beast huh? don't be rash" Cosmo berated.

He tapped his storage, fetching out twenty novice rank power cores.

"If it's power cores you lack, take them. Treat it like a friendly gesture"

Theo was torn between laughter and tears.

"I really am not acting rash. I know a method to deal with that dire beast!"

-[Ping! Does Host wish to influence Cosmo? Y/N?]

"Influence? i can do that?" Theo was shocked.

Seeing that Cosmo was about to berate him again, he chose the positive answer.

-[Cosmo has been influenced]

At that moment, Cosmo suddenly stiffened for a bit, before letting out a sigh.

"Alright. Let me trust you on this one bruh"

Hearing this reply, Theo's eyes widened in shock. It worked?!

With this windfall, he was sure to receive hundreds of thousands stat points. Even if he didn't level up, his strength would improve drastically!

While he was besides himself with joy, he suddenly received a jaw dropping notification.

-[Congratulations! Host has passed Hidden Quest; Influence someone decision within one week]

-[Host has received +20 mental fortitude stats]

-[Host has received +10 intelligence stat]

-[Host has awakened a magic principle; Illusion Principles]

The current City Lord wasn't an exception. Although it was regarded as a second rate power, no other second rate power dared to slight Cloudy Peach Academy. Currently in a huge field, the size of a stadium, many seats hovered above the air. Atop these floating seats were the hyped up spectators. Gathered around the huge field was a dense amount of quasi grade one students. Currently, their eyes shone with a certain glint of eagerness. This young man was Nick and was extremely popular in this examination segment. He wore barbaric fur clothes and was stocky. He was part of those who had brilliant performances. Killing more than twenty dire beasts under one hour. He was a genius alright. "That's nothing. I still strongly believe that the kid named Theo would take the winner spot" another man among the audiences wearing a bamboo hat, laughed merrily. "That is a given alright. But the first runner up isn't quite clear" his companion stroked his beard while

At the entrance gate of Cloudy Peach Academy, a massive crowd of journalists and news reporters tried their best to force their way in. You have a limit of thirty seconds to answer. Failurd to do so means certain death!" Diego's voice boomed. 'What a heartless man!' Theo became stern. He tried emptying his mind off stray thoughts. He wanted to be in his best mental shape. "First Riddle. I am something. Within me there are cities but no house. Forest but no trees. Rivers but no water. What am i?" Theo sucked in a deep breath. Theo gasped in exasperation as he peered at the tall tower. The tower was pitch black in color, excluding a ghotic air around it. Surrounding the tower was a large wall made out of broken bones and skulls. The gate was extremely antique and left wide ajar. "Be careful. I sense a powerful source of necromancy mana from that tower" Scarlet warned solemnly, taking cautious steps towards the ghotic looking tower, while Theo and Lorraine followed from behind her. When they were a short distance away from the tower, Scarlet fingers weaved through a series of handseals. It was common knowledge that only runesmasters could draw out runic matrix formations. Matrix tags were special items with a runic matrix formation sealed within.
