Stand-off

“Where you stand? You are my granddaughter and you will always work for me.” Alexander replied like he was forced to. He couldn’t deny that he had taken her in like his own granddaughter but deep down in his heart, he knew who his grandchildren really were.

“What if I decide to stop working for you? What if I decide that I want to devote to working for Robin and not you anymore? Will you still consider me as your so-called granddaughter?” She asked as a tear dripped from her right eye.

No matter how her papa Alex had claimed to love her, she had never questioned him or look him in the eye to know if he was telling the truth or not.

But now, she could see the cold and unfeeling look in his eyes and it maybe had started to dawn on her that she could just be a pawn on his game board.
