Chapter 7: Whisper of the unknown

The laughter escaped Piano's mouth as if Jiro made a joke.

"Why are you laughing?", Jiro asked.

And right now, Jiro was confused. Because the affection bar has reached the bar of 75 percent. It was a scary thing to Jiro to see that affection bar rising so suddenly.

"Did I joke about something?", He asked in confusion as Piano couldn't stop laughing.

"No! You did not. I am just surprised. It's the first time a kid isn't scared of me and is asking me if I have kids of my own", Piano was feeling lighthearted now.

It was the first time someone had felt that he can have kids around him like a normal person.

Kids get easily scared of him since he is someone who wields swords and kills others. So when that scary side of him shows up to them, they can't help but maintain a safe distance from him.

Right now he was glad that a kid was acting normal around him and not scared of him at all, it was a good experience for him.

Jiro tilted his head in confusion as he even tried to rack his brain to understand what Piano was and why that affection bar was rising even though he was doing nothing.

"82 percent? Why is the affection bar going so high?", Jiro's eyes pop out when he was the affection bar rising.

"Since I have started taking part in battles, I have killed many people. Sometimes it was out of selfishness while most of the time I killed because I wanted to protect my people. You see! Adults don't have any problem with that, to them...I am their Savior", Piano continued speaking ahead without any spot.

"The kids, however...they don't understand all this. Once they saw me killing those enemies, they started keeping their distance from me, even calling me a monster who preys on blood. They kind of hate me and are scared of me. So when I saw you for the first time, I was afraid you would run away too", Piano shared his concern with a child-looking goblin and he was not guilty of it at all.

Instead...He felt light in his heart now that he shared those burdensome feelings with him.

For some reason, Jiro felt kind of glad...he got the relativity from Piano when he shared some of his moments with him.

"I am glad, I didn't make you uncomfortable. It's my first time meeting someone who didn't call me a monster", Said Jiro.

He wasn't lying because he wanted to be relatable to Piano. No...it wasn't the case.

Even though Roug had no such moments or memory to share, Jiro had.

From when he can understand things and got consciousness, he was always bullied by his peers and adult, they all called him trash and threw him out of the community. Jiro never had a life, to begin with.

Even when everyone was like him...Goblins never treated him like one of them, he was outcasted and never got the same treatment as others.

Jiro was never a person to raise his voice at someone, he never had a voice in his throat, to begin with. Whenever someone would talk to him, he would just nod or shake his head, no other movements he would make...nodding and shaking, these two actions were his words and everything, there was no life ahead of them.

Due to this, everyone took him for granted, made fun of his witty personality, and took advantage of him...

But now...Jiro was nowhere in this world, to begin with, he disappeared. Or maybe, he was still inside the body, asleep, or escaped somewhere.

There was someone that Roug couldn't get his hands on.

They walked for a while and then once again they realized they couldn't find a way back home. This place was like a maze, confusing with so many routes which looked the same and everything was identical...

Once again, they were brought to the same place as before, the tall tree.

"Big Brother! We were just here half an ago, right?".

DUN DUN...

They were standing in the same place as all four times before.

"We can't even leave this tree, when will we be able to escape? I think we are doomed. No matter which path we take, or which way we go...we are bound to arrive at the same place, looks like we are trapped. I am missing my Wife now".

Piano had no energy left in him, he fell to the ground and lay down on the soft green grass, he does not wish to move from there at all.

Ane then dragged Jiro in as well.

"Come! Lay beside me. I am afraid, If we keep moving forward with half heart and tired body, we are bound to fail. So why now we rest for a while?".

Piano realized it late but he had exhausted his body completely by wandering for two days without any rest.

It makes sense now why he couldn't focus or think of a way to leave or find the entrance.

Jiro lay down, beside him.

As his body touched the ground, a cold session ran through his body and veins, it was soothing. He can't remember the last time he lay down so comfortably and without any thoughts in his mind.

It was a good feeling, resting on the bare ground full of grass with the chilling sensation running through the body, it was soothing and relaxing.

Eventually, his mind was getting relaxed...

Jiro moved his hand in the air, and blocked the sunlight in front of his vision, he closed one eye and tried looking at the sky...It was white and blue, the colors which were enough to calm one's mind.

Jiro closed his eyes to get a little rest.

Piano glanced at him.

And then turned his body towards him, putting his hand under his head...He was looking at Jiro. There was something in his head that he really wish to ask.

Suddenly....he tapped his fingers on Jiro's head.

Jiro turned and made eye contact with him.

"Jiro! After you leave this place, where will you go".

"I...Dont know. Never thought of it".

Jiro was not sure where he wanna go next. If there's a way he can return to his original, he would definitely try it. But right...he was trying to familiarize himself with this strange world.

Those of Jiro's kind have hurt him a lot, if there's a chance he can go back to them...He will surely go back. Not to show them that their sacrifice has failed to reach the right hands, but to show them what they have done by treating him like that.

"If I can go back to my village and meet my parents, I would like to ask them why they abandoned me", Said Jiro.

Those were not Jiro's words, they were Roug's world. True, not all parents are the same, so he can't expect Jiro's parents to be the same as his in his previous life.

But if he can meet Jiro's parents again, he would ask them why they had to abandon Jiro and treat him so badly.

Piano felt the pain in his voice when he talked about his parents.

"I have not become a parent yet, but when I do become a parent, I will try my best to give him or her all the love I can, I want my child to be the happiest in the world, so he will never be scared of me".

He was optimistic when he was talking about having a child. As much as upset he was about Jiro having such evil parents, he was excited too...

After all, the happiness to become a parent is out of this world.

"Big Brother! I hope your wish comes true, I bless you from the bottom of my heart", Jiro wished his wish could come true.

Piano just smiled from the heart after hearing that. One true blessing was everything than having many which were not from the heart or had no meaning.

"By the way! Let me ask you something. Why is this place called illusionary Dungeon?", Asked Jiro as he was curious.

"I don't know as well. It's a myth that many demons reside in this place, they are locked there. It's said that a Mage caged many demons around the continent in his bottles and then locked them here. It's a myth only, so I don't know how much is true out of it".

Thousand years ago, a skilled Mage stepped into this continent, he was highly acknowledged by his peers and seniors for his skills, and even the people admired him a lot.

At that time, many low-breed demons were wreaking havoc in the human realm. That Mage was invited for this special task...

"Little Goblin...You look appetizing, should I...devour you directly or wait?".

Someone whispered...
