Will thought for a few moments before carefully choosing his words and answering the woman’s question. “That is…” Not until he couldn’t.The words didn’t escape Will’s mouth even though he tried. Although I knew the reason behind it, Will refused to disclose some information to the public and left it a mystery for everyone. ‘They don’t need to know,’ must be the words circulating inside his mind. It was better than way, so he wouldn’t let out things the crowd doesn’t need to know. Silence was the key. And if this topic died out and if Will and the others could handle these swarms of monsters, I doubted those survivors would speak up their minds. And if i was in his position, I would’ve done the same thing. Finally, after all the preparations the adventurers and the people did, the clock had ticked. Everyone went to their posts. Will had a different thing. Instead of using the bravest people from the survivor’s group, the old man prohibited everyone to join the fight or even get near
Thank god that the portal’s instructions weren’t that bad. It was the same as the first one. The only thing we had to do was to defeat the final boss and go with our lives to reach the next swarm. We were given no time limit or anything. It was simple but deadly. As the army of monsters approached, Will and his team assembled. Their powers rivaled the thousand creatures in front of us. It would be an all out war. Although the Crimson Guild had less presence than our enemies, these elite members had faced more traumatic battles and remained victorious after every battle. I knew, because the way they acted gave off superior vibes of relentlessness and ambition. Icarus, I assumed, was the star of the party. And he was the cannon of the group. And so, the war began. There was no dome to protect these survivors. Only the adventurer’s abilities and the way they fought together was the only defense they had. Although I could say that Will and the others made fences, these panels wouldn’t be
When Will ordered his teammates to split and deal with the monsters accordingly, everyone placed their trust on Will’s instructions. These adventurers knew that they could place their lives to the old man. It was some confidence, but that attribute was the only thing that kept them alive. Besides the current and sudden change of plans, Will had something in mind. And as the Scarlet Dragon slowly flew and approached us, the old man listed every strategy he had to turn the tables around. And that was when I offered him a suggestion.I stood from the ground, still with the shackles behind my hands, and returned the gaze of the old man. The three adventurers jerked and thought I was going to use this opportunity to stir more chaos in the already maddened situation. But when Will lifted his hand and stopped his party members, I nodded and offered him my help… Our help.“I know this may be a tad strange, but Hina and I can handle the Scarlet Dragon or the swarm of monsters. And with your he
Just like any other dragons found in a fantasy setting, the Scarlet Dragon spewed bluish flames from its mouth. The temperature was even hotter than lava, and it was more than enough to kill anything in sight, including the toughest metal known to mankind. Even exposing ourselves near the scorching flames would be enough to kill a normal human being. And that was the problem.Us adventurers didn’t have any harmful effects from this sudden rise or decrease of temperature thanks to our abilities increasing our strength and tenacity. But an average person, the fire that came out from this dragon would instantly kill them. Will had to prioritise shielding the survivors and protecting his team simultaneously. Hina and I weren’t still allowed to use our spells. And even if we wanted to, Hina was also restricted by some sort of ability that hindered her from using her skills. I could destroy the shackles that bound her hands, but that would alarm the adventurers, leading to a civil war again
I didn’t think that the spell worked against the Scarlet Dragon. After all the monster boss showed, this fight should have not ended that easily. And it didn’t.Unfortunately, my expectations still occurred. And the Scarlet Dragon was still alive. When the four adventurers cast their spells in unison, any enemy should have died from it. They should. My system gauged the spell’s effects and told me it was enough to wipe off any nation clean without leaving a trace. But the spell wasn’t enough to kill the gargantuan monster. When a cloud of smoke enveloped the True Dragon, everything became silent. Not a word escaped from the area, except from the swarm of creatures banging on the already broken walls. Hina and I did everything we could to prevent these creatures from breaching the base. And, for a moment, we pushed back the horde of beasts and bought five minutes on the clock, similar from what Will had shown to meJust as the smoke died, the Scarlet Dragon didn’t appear. It was as if
As soon as Will freed us from our restraints, Hina cast her spells to amplify the base’s defences and created a wall to protect us from the Scarlet Dragon’s devastating breath. It was the same breath that the reptile used to nearly wipe off the elite members of the Crimson Guild if it were not for Natasha’s quick thinking and armour covering her body. The magic my sister used to protect us was a high-grade spell made of her own magic. It didn’t have any weaknesses. As long as Hina’s mana was more than the enemy’s strength, she could withstand every attack. That wall rose like a bullet from my barrel. It was even faster than a famished jaguar, as the mineral wall covered the skies and blocked the ruinous puff. It didn’t even take a few seconds before the wind was absorbed by Hina’s spell and disappeared as if the attack was just a nonexistent dream. As soon as the ambush ended, the walls my sister created lowered and revealed the puzzled expression of the True Dragon. If that powerfu
“I think I have something. You lots better listen to me now,” Will said, and faced the Scarlet Dragon.“Icarus, I want you to play as the decoy. But I also want you to position yourself where you would avoid getting your ult used against the Scarlet Dragon. If worse comes to worst, Tera, the masked girl that could create those walls, will be the one to save you from popping your ultimate. Your job, although you’d become the decoy for the team, is to distract the Scarlet Dragon and allow White Fang to dish out his damage. He’s a sniper, so he’ll be hitting the dragon from afar. Between him and you, White Fang deals the most damage. So it’s better if you’re not going to be the attacker… Just this once, got it?”Will said those words without stuttering. Every word he uttered had confidence and boosted our morale as if we would definitely win this battle. The old man also deliberately let his words be heard by Hina and me. Knowing what the other member would do could be a great help for t
We had been bullying this dragon for quite some time now. Of course, when a monster had been kicked multiple times, that creature would retaliate against us people. It was similar to a dog down the streets who had been pushed around and treated like a toy. The True Dragon only used the common types of spells it had that my system appraised. Even though it utilised the high ground and attacked us from afar, thanks to Will’s advice, we found a hole from the Scarlet Dragon’s defences and played around with it. That monster didn’t see it coming. When bullets after bullets landed against the beast, the dragon could do nothing but to act seriously against us. If the creature still refused to see us as a threat, the monster would lose this fight. So when the Scarlet Dragon realised its chances of winning became slim, that was when the reptile unleashed its full power even I could not tell. My system was limited from viewing every ability that the lizard had. It would be nice if I could vie
