Chapter 1

Jason inhaled deeply the scent of the bouquet of roses in his hand. His efforts over the past month had not been in vain. Now he managed to get the beautiful bouquet of flowers that Lydia, his girlfriend, wanted.

For a moment Jason smiled, remembering that he had to scrimp for a whole month by only eating a piece of bread to fill his stomach. For his poor self, buying a bouquet of flowers plus a box of chocolates was a rare luxury.

The aroma filled all his senses. Jason smiled broadly and stepped lightly regardless of the sound of his rumbling stomach. After all, he had long since made peace with hunger.

"Lydia, look, this flower is so pretty! As pretty as you are!" Jason stared at the bouquet of flowers in his hand. Lydia had never said directly that she wanted flowers. But as a good boyfriend, Jason could see the twinkle in Lydia's eyes whenever she passed by the florist.

This blonde-haired girl could never take her eyes off the rows of roses in front of the shop. She would even walk home from campus just to pass by her favorite flower shop.

When Jason couldn't wait to give Lydia a bouquet of flowers, his lips smiled wryly when he entered the classroom and found Lydia's seat empty.

"Her cell phone is unreachable and she's not here either? Where's Lydia?"

Jason let out a long sigh then turned around, he intended to look for Lydia in the campus park. At the same time, a man and woman entered the classroom. The two of them walked so close, even the man's hand embraced the shoulder of the woman next to him. It looked like they were lovers.

"Lydia?" Jason gasped seeing his girlfriend in the arms of another man.

Lydia replied, "Oh, Jason." She was a little surprised but did not distance herself from the man beside her.

Although disturbed by Lydia's closeness to another man, Jason still tried to smile. He didn't want to ruin the special day he had been looking forward to all this time.

"I've been looking for you for a long time."

"She was with me in the cafeteria, we talked about a lot of things there." Kevin, Jason's classmate as well as Lydia, was still hugging Lydia's shoulder. "Isn't that right, sweetie?"

Jason swallowed the saliva that suddenly tasted bitter. His stomach churned strongly, as if preparing himself for something bad. "Isn't it true? May I know what you're talking about?"

Lydia, the girl Jason had been dating for three years, looked down with flushed cheeks. Then glanced at Kevin with a smile on her lips.

Jason's stomach was in knots, but he tried to ignore it. He stepped forward, pulling Lydia's hand away from Kevin.

"Lydia, I have a surprise for you," he said softly.

A bouquet of pink roses was handed to Lydia, but she stared at it blankly. "What's this?"

Jason laughed nervously. "An anniversary gift for our love relationship. You certainly haven't forgotten that it's been three years since we started dating, have you?"

From Lydia's right came the sound of condescending laughter. Jason glanced at Kevin who was blatantly mocking him.

"Ah, I didn't just prepare flowers." Jason half forced Lydia to accept the bouquet of flowers from him while he took something from his bag. "I also bought your favorite chocolate."

There was no squeal of delight as Jason had expected. The girl in front of him looked amused at the gift box Jason had given her. From the expression on her face, it was clear that Lydia was not at all interested in the gift Jason had brought.

"It's not in a neat shape, I was in a hurry to give it to you as a surprise gift." The box of chocolates was originally arranged with Lydia's favorite pink ribbon. However, Jason crammed it into a backpack so that the shape of the box turned into a mess. "Don't look at the outside."

Jason's voice trembled as he asked Lydia to accept his gift. However, the girl looked away.

"Is this your anniversary gift?" Kevin gripped Lydia's shoulders tighter. "That's pathetic. He really doesn't appreciate your beauty, honey..."

"Honey? You call my girlfriend 'honey'?" Jason's blood seemed to boil.

Kevin wanted to answer Jason's question, but Lydia held him back. "Honey, let me answer it." Lydia then looked at Jason, a sardonic smile on the sweet girl's lips. "Jason, take a good look at this!" Lydia slammed Jason's bouquet of flowers, stomping on it mercilessly. The petals scattered near Lydia's feet, falling apart like Jason's heart.

"Lydia? What do you mean?"

"Jason, what can one expect from a man who can only give a bouquet of flowers to his girlfriend?! Oh, Kevin even gave me a Louis Vuitton bag when we first met! You should be able to understand this, we're breaking up!"

Jason's whole body went cold as if he had been splashed with ice water. He smiled nervously at his lover. "Don't joke..."

"Lydia is not joking. From today she's dating me." Kevin leaned down and kissed Lydia on the lips.

The girl didn't resist. Instead, she kissed Kevin back.

The other students cheered loudly. Their voices echoed in the classroom, and some even clapped. Making the new couple smile happily.

A classmate of Lydia's shouted, "You finally broke up with this loser!"

Jason was stunned. His gaze reddened for a moment, overwhelmed with emotion. His palms clenched into fists, but his common sense forbade Jason to act ridiculous.

Kevin was a broad-shouldered member of the rugby club. Punching Kevin would only give him an excuse to beat him up mercilessly.

Lydia broke her hug from Kevin, then looked at Jason with disgust.

"Jason, don't get into another relationship with any girl because you will only hurt your lover. Damn, I even regret having spent my three precious years with a poor loser like you!" Lydia's long legs kicked the shattered bouquet of flowers at Jason.

"Kevin is not a good guy," Jason squealed. At the moment he didn't care about his fate being a laughing stock. He was heartbroken, of course. But he was also worried about Lydia who had chosen to be with Kevin, the playboy. "Lydia, he's just a playboy who has a large collection of women. He doesn't deserve to be with you. Believe me!"

Jason's shout provoked Kevin's anger. The burly man lunged forward, pulling Jason by the shirt collar. "What do you mean, huh?!"

Kevin's breath was hot on Jason's face. They were so close that he closed his eyes tightly, bracing himself for Kevin's punch.

"Kevin, he just insulted my boyfriend. Can you teach him a lesson?" Lydia said spoilingly in Kevin's ear.

Kevin complied. He pushed Jason so hard that he staggered backwards.

With a swift movement, Kevin immediately landed his foot on Jason's cheek, making Jason's glasses bounce and break as it hit the floor.

"This is just the beginning!" threatened Kevin after beating Jason. He then pulled Jason out of the classroom, making him fall to the floor.

No one felt pity for Jason. They burst out laughing and closed the classroom door. From outside came congratulations for Lydia and Kevin.

Jason got up with difficulty, people in the corridor rushing out of the way as soon as he walked. Some people looked at him with pity, while others looked away.

Without his glasses, he couldn't see clearly. Everything seemed blurry and shadowy. Finding that his presence was not expected by anyone, Jason walked confusedly out of the campus area.

"I was a good boyfriend, always treated Lydia with respect. Three years of dating I was even always loyal only to her, but she had the heart to dump me." Jason muttered to himself as he walked. His eyes that were no longer alert caught him off guard. "It's only been a while that Lydia has been in a relationship with Kevin, they're already acting intimate. Lydia has gone too far!"

A truck sped by, its horn blaring to warn Jason who was passing by when the light turned green.

People screamed at the horrifying sight. But strangely, instead of running away, people saw Jason silent while rubbing his eyes repeatedly.

Unnoticed by anyone, Jason saw a panel screen appear in front of his eyes. He didn't see a big truck driving towards him because Jason was focused on the writing that appeared in front of his view screen.

"Super Rich System?!"
