The Difference In Strength

What is going on here?

"I don't believe it!"

Clandel, the one they called General, roared.

Seeing this, many were happy.

"Tsk. Brother Clandel is pissed! This useless bastard is dead for sure!"

"Yeah. Brother Clandel is so angry now. The consequences will definitely be severe. Just wait and see."

"Hmph! This useless dog doesn't even have the chance to defend itself now."

"That's right. It can be seen that Brother Clandel was indeed not serious and careless before! But now, he will teach him the true meaning of courting death!"

"…"

The few minions heaved a sigh of relief, thinking that Clandel had only been doing a warm-up on the bastard before.

But little did they know that their mighty Clandel was already at his wit's end with Gray.

What's going on?

Clandel was inwardly sweating buckets, wondering what was wrong with this bastard all of a sudden.

Never in his life has he felt so angry and helpless all at once.

Rather than screaming and begging for mercy, Gray looked as though he was bored.

Clandel almost lost his footing after hearing his whispery complaints.

"Haven't you not eaten lunch today? Why are you so weak?"

Bastard!

"You're the one who is weak! Your father is weak! Your entire generation is weak!" Clandel retorted to himself, listening to Gray's annoying muffling words.

Screw you!

He was one of the most feared people in school with an establishment resume on his strength level and beating capabilities.

So why the hell is he weak?

Pah!

Pah!

Pah!

Bam!

Bam!

Bam!

Pah!

[ +0 points.]

Gray turned his back to Clandel in annoyance, as though he was turning one bed to sleep on the other side after someone was waking him up.

If you know you don't have the strength, why let him waste his time with you?

"You bastard!"

Don't think he doesn't know what Gray is thinking when seeing him roll his heavenwards.

Are you calling him weak?

That's it! He was done playing Mister Nice Guy.

All this while, he didn't want to use his special abilities since it would be a hassle to kill ordinary people as an awakened human. But Gray was really pushing him over the edge here.

Suddenly, everyone including Alder and Gray noticed Clandel's change.

A swirl of red aura exploded around him, as the wind current became defined by the red aura, allowing everyone to see Crescent shapes form in the air.

Oh No!

Clandel was about to unleash his Wind Wrath technique.

One slash on a Mortal and your body would be so cleanly divided you won't even feel the pain.

Everyone's face turned ashen; but seeing as Adler didn't speak, they had no choice but to zip their lips.

Gray on the other hand felt he was about to experience true hell.

He suddenly felt cold, as a menacing killing aura surrounded him leaving him with no way to go.

He had really stepped on the tiger's tail here.

"System, I won't really die, right? What are my chances of surviving?"

[Zero… The Host is still an ordinary human… Only an awakened person has a chance of surviving.]

"In other words..."

[You're on your own, host.]

F***!

Gray inwardly cursed, hating himself for thinking this system was omnipotent enough to protect him.

"Be honest, you have something against me, right?" Why didn't the system tell him this golden rule before he arrogantly pranced over?

What should he do? What should he do now?

He was only a few points shy from being an awakened human.

If Clandel had just given room for another person to beat him up, he would definitely gather enough points to become awakened.

Bottom line, only an awakened punching bag can take hits from awakened beings.

In his current ordinary form, he stood no chance of surviving at all!

Seeing as Clandel was about to make a move, Gray's face turned distorted and fearful for the first time since the rain of beatings began.

Mommy...

Was his rise to the top and his awesome protagonist journey going to be cut off here?

Gray had already envisioned what he wanted to be written on his gravestone, seeing as he was truly helpless against Clandel's might.

Goodbye cruel world.~

Gray closed his eyes tight, waiting for the worst to happen.

But why did he suddenly feel a strange force pulling him aside?

Boom!

Clandel's attack landed its mark on the floor but not on the person he wished.

So fast?... Who is it?

Clandel and everyone looked up to see a man in a sleek dark suit and well-laid-back combed hair holding onto Gray underneath one hand.

A hero? Well of course not.

The man looked at Gray in disgust before kicking Gray like a ball into a nearby dumpster with divine accuracy.

"How dirty."

Frowning, the man then took off his gloves, burning them with bluish-green flames from his fingertips before taking out another pair of gloves and putting them on again.

[Gray]: "..." Am I so repulsive?

Well, for the sake that you saved him, he will forgive you just this once.

Had the man known Gray's true thoughts, maybe he would have finished Gray off and decided to finish Gray off rather than save him.

.

The man who looked no older than 29, calmly placed a hand in his right pocket and walked toward Adler with an expressionless face.

"Young master, you are being summoned by the master."

Adler casually nodded, slowly rising and following the man out of the alleyway into an expensive limo.

Seeing Adler enter the vehicle, the man turned his attention to Clandel and the others.

His aura suddenly turned beastly and everyone had the illusion they were standing before a great demon.

"Now listen here, you pieces of shit... You all know the rules... You cannot use your powers on ordinary people. If we start attacking them all, who will be our laborers to keep this dump running? Huh? We need them to toil for us to work for us! To fear us and not to die at every turn. If you want to end him, there are other ways we can do it. But it must never be traced back to the young master… Understood?"

Everyone, including Clandel, was shaking in their boots. They wanted to answer but their tongues seemed swollen as though bitten by a thousand bees.

BOOM!

The man's aura grew 20 times stronger, causing everyone to drop to their knees in horror.

"I said... understood?"

"Ye-ye-ye-ye-yes sir..."

"Good." The man adjusted his tie and slowly retracted his aura, getting into the limo and lowering the windows down.

"See to it that this little incident never repeats itself."
