20. SYSTEM ACTIVATED

Clara and Benjamin stood there for several hours before Miss Helena told them everything they needed to know for their stay at the orphanage.

As she continued speaking she would smile at Benjamin now and then. But honestly what she hadn't noticed was that Benjamin was blazing angry, he had thought the call would last for just a few minutes and how wrong his predictions were.

Miss Helena rambled almost everything about the orphanage until it was almost twelve o'clock.

Now that she was done, Benjamin wasted no time at all and rushed his legs straight to the basement. He didn't finish reading the part that would help him remove the curse from his head. He knew he had a curse, everytime he would turn green, he would lose his memory about the whole thing. Not knowing Co-nian was the one who was in control all the time…

At that moment the so-called "system" was dead silent. Almost all his secrets were shaking. Just one page and Benjamin will find out everything.

Once Benjamin lifted the next page, there was a familiar picture on the paper. Benjamin looked at it again."It cannot be? " He turned and looked at the box he had once spotted.

"It is the same picture."

Looking at the book, the writings were now translated into English.

Benjamin started reading it instantly before someone ruined the moment.

*To lift the curse of the Trigon, wish on the……*

The page was full so he had to turn the next page. He did and what he discovered was that there were no other pages left. The rest of the book was missing.

Co-nian felt relieved, he had lied to Benjamin all this entire time that he was a system and now his secret was almost revealed but luckily for him, the pages were missing. "Where are the rest of the pages?" He searched everywhere but didn't see any book similar to the one he was reading.

He came back and turned the pages back to where it had the picture of that box. He went on and looked at it carefully and then went back to the book. He looked around but didn't see Benoni.

Then an idea came inside his head.

"I think I can lift the curse off my ass, so now I won't change into a beast anymore." He said hoping for Co-nian to respond but he didn't.

Benjamin took the book closer to the box. He looked at the symbols on the box sternly and then looked at the book he was holding.

'Maybe the book said I should wish on the box. ' He thought.

Benjamin placed his two hands on top of the symbols then he opened his mouth. " I wish…."

Out of nowhere Benoni barged in and lifted the box away before he finished with the later part.

"Don't ever think of doing so. This box is unique and I don't even know what it is inside yet. It could be a weapon or maybe perhaps a magic crystal. You don't know what your wish might do to you!" He took the book back to where it belonged.

Benjamin looked at the book. 'Don't worry book, we will finish with our curse breaking later.' He finished smiling inside.

"Benjamin, help me bring my teleportation device here for testing."

" Okay" says Benjamin, still averting his eyes on the book. Even though he thought Benoni was crazy, the box made everything stand out from the things in the basement.

Even though he heard him say something about a teleportation device it still didn't make sense to him because he knew it was nearly impossible for a human to actually create a device like that.

Once the teleportation device had been brought towards the testing area, Benjamin came and stood at a distance. He was wasting his time thinking he would successfully create an actual device that could teleport people.

So did Benjamin thought.

"Damn this thing! I burned another cord. Benjamin, please keep an eye on this for me while I go out there. The device is almost ready for testing but I have to bring another cord, also don't think of going near that box" He finished as he swung the door shut.

" Okay Benoni, I will look after it for you. There is nothing to be afraid of." Benjamin watched while Benoni left the basement.

Without wasting another chance, Benjamin went and grabbed the box back to where the book of Syndrome was located.

[Benjamin, This, you are doing is wrong. You might end up killing me]

Sincerely Co-nian warned him. And it was the truth. He might be eliminated.

"Who cares , You are just a parasite anyway" Benjamin said sarcastically. But what he did not know was that he would face troubles in the future for calling him a parasite.

Benjamin didn't think the second time before he placed his hands on the metal again. He fixed his eyes on the symbols then he said the one thing he was trying to say all these times of waiting.

[Stop that Benjamin!] Co-nian tried but he wasn't able to take control over Benjamin's body. His only mistake was that he was supposed to tell Benjamin a long time ago that he was the Trigon and not him. Co-nian should have told him that ever since he wielded that sword of Khaos at the Sirens kingdom he became the body host for Co-nian to possess but sadly for the trigon, he wasn't able to fully possess Benjamin Reeds.

"I wish you would set me free from the curse." He enchanted.

Benjamin's eyes were still on the box. " I wish to free myself from the curse." Nothing happened the second time.." This was all fake! If I say it the last time and it doesn't work , I will burn this book." He snapped.

" I, Benjamin Reeds son of the Ocean" He placed fingers both on the box and the book. " Wish for the cursed Trigon to set me free!!!"

The ceiling shoke immediately when he said that, after that, the box cracked open. But everything inside it was covered by the white gas that evaporated from it. Benjamin watched until all the smoke came out.

He then moved even closer to see what was inside. He bent over his eye ready to watch. But when the gas vanished all that was left inside the box was ; a black object that looked like a scarab stuck inside the bottom. It was the size of a human fist. And the textures didn't look like anything made of magic at all.

[I wouldn't touch that if I were you Benjamin ] He warned him the second time. Luckily after Benjamin's wish had been granted he was still unaffected.

Benjamin turned deaf to all his annoying warnings. Benjamin held the box and sat down placing it in front of him. Then carefully he stretched his fingers towards the scarab. Since the box has opened, maybe the Scarab-looking object might be the key to the curse.

Immediately the scarab acted as if it was alive. It started climbing Benjamin on his arm the moment he touched it. He wiggled his arms several times but the scarab's sharp legs has pierced his skin already and everytime it made a step it will dig it legs inside Benjamin's flesh making it hard for him to get it off.

[ I warned you Benjamin!] Co-nian said happy that the curse hadn't been broken. Maybe perhaps he overreacted, now he is going to stay there and watch while Benjamin stuffer pian for not listening to him.

"Just shut up. " Benjamin shouted.

The scarab went on climbing until it reached the back of Benjamin's head. As it reached there it didn't move, minutes passed and the creature was still at the back of Benjamin's head.

Suddenly Benjamin felt an excruciating pain at his back as the creature started eating his way into his Head. Benjamin's occipital bone was bleeding nonstop. Benjamin felt the creature tear his flesh away. Even Benjamin didn't realize he was crying.

[You deserved it Benjamin!] Co-nian mocked him.

"Fuck you Co-nian!"

The animal was eating him alive and Co-nian wasn't helping the slightest bit. The animal had eaten almost all the skin at his occiput. The rest was just his scalp.

Benjamin was now lying on the ground helpless he could not breath properly and most of his blood had been spilt on the floor. The animal seems to have stopped.

The scarab rested at his back for a while before Benjamin felt another pain never felt before as the creature was now eating through his bones.

The pain went on to the point where Benjamin no longer felt it. Everything was silenced. But strangely he hadn't passed out yet. He was just lying on the floor bleeding and paralyzed.

The Scarab thrust through Benjamin Reed's white brain immediately after it reached there.

It was done, His final moments of living were finally over. He lied there as he recalled everything that led him into coming to the orphanage.

Waking up naked– Getting kidnapped– Being stabbed with an acid, getting chased by Fenty. All of them didn't kill him so will this finally do it?

He stopped thinking. It felt as if his life has been mapped out in such a way he will run from problem to even worse crisis. Now this is happening.

"Wait! Why am I not dying?" He asked himself after lying on the floor for thirty minutes after the scarab had entered through his head.

*Insertion Process Success*

Benjamin wasn't quite sure of what the was actually hearing? A voice in his head!! Again??

Was the scarab talking? He wondered. Even though his entire body was paralyzed he could still think. Which was more impossible because he had felt all the pain and the intensity the scarab used to eat its way into his brain. And the strange thing was why the Scarab could stay inside his

brain and not eating.

*Healing Protocol Activated will take five minutes before user will see again*

After the voice, he became blind.

Within the five minutes, he felt as if the creature was eating its way out of his scalp. The Scarab moved back and forth inside his head and he could feel it only this time, his flesh was patching itself. Then he felt a sharp burning sensation surging through his eyes as if the retina was burning.

Then eventually it went away.

Almost all the pain was simply just gone.

Benjamin was able to stand up, his head throbbing in pain. He felt the scarab stuck inside his head. Aside from that he remembered hearing his sight would be taken.

Benjamin became more scared. His destiny might rely on this one. Because if he opens his eyes and sees darkness.. then it will confirm it. He didn't want to think of the term for not having sight.

And also if he doesn't open, how is he ever going to know?

It was decided. He will open it. And whatever that might happen should happen. There is no time for being scared again after nearly dying.

Benjamin flattered his eyes open, and as he was expecting, he saw nothing but the darkness.

Then he saw a screen.
