Chapter 2. Turn of events

Vanessa was ecstatic as she headed to the club, eagerly anticipating her mother's promised love story. However, as she approached the building, she noticed an eerie silence. Once inside, she was aghast at the sight of lifeless bodies, strewn about the club. Blood coated the floors and walls, and the air was thick with the pungent smell of death. Vision blurred by tears, Vanessa searched for her mother among the carnage. Fear gripped her as she considered the possibility that her mother might be among the dead.

She searched for a while, not sure whether her mom was part of them or not. Blood leaked everywhere in the room. Her heart trembled but the urge kept her searching.

Even though it seemed like a terrible idea for searching for her mother amongst the dead, she still went on with it.

Questions raced through Vanessa's mind: Who could have done this?' In the midst of her grief and confusion a terrible sight of a female lying dead met her gaze. She was even worse than the men. Her flesh appeared to be have attacked by an unknown beast.

Her soul left her. Her eyes turn red with tears, "No this just an illusion" She moved close to take a closer look.

Had it been that a monster attacked? If so why did it only eat her mother while it just killed the others. From how it seemed it was as if the soldiers died protecting her mother.

"Who ever did this would pay" Her voice sounded confident but her heart told her something else: Loss…

She picked her mother up in her arms, took her away from the club house to the shores with a new feeling inside her heart.

All the walls around her strong heart shattered. Her feet felt fragile, her heart felt pain.

She dropped her mother's dead body to the ground and wept for some time.

"I will not waste time to weep while her killer lives. I will find whoever did this."

Benjamin Reeds felt stupid as he was swimming away from the scene.

"What just happened?"

"Take care of my daughter" Those words haunted him. How did he not know she was in that club? That way he wouldn't have attacked but it was too late he wasn't fast enough to kill the man that shot her. How could they be this cruel?

Instead of blaming himself for the death of the lady, he directed the guilt into hating humans even more.

All his life he felt no pain for anyone but why did the women's words made him feel this sad? Why did the women say those to him in the first place? Must it have been that she knew who he was?

Then why the heck did he not remember anything? "I am an idiot.' he said

The more he thought of it the more he was losing sane.

First he woke up one day with absolutely different memories of his life. Only this memory made him even more angry and more thirsty for revenge.

He didn't even trust he even knew who he was anymore. Whenever he closes his eyes at first it would have been the face of his dying mother but now it was just the face of another woman telling him to take care of her daughter.

How is he ever going to do that? He couldn't even help himself with his own emotions. More less taking care of a girl who would remind him of his own pain.

"Maybe I can find answers from that girl."

With this in mind, he retraced his movement.

"I am going back" He decided.

He made his mind ready to search for the girl even though he barely knew who she was, he still felt the need to do so.

"Maybe I can be distracted by searching for her." He patted himself with that.

Only if he knew what he was up against…

He was able to swim back to the shores where the club house was located but searching around the club no one was there. It was then he realized every single one of the soldiers had been killed by no one else but him.

"This is pointless, I am going back to the ocean..." His steps was nowhere near the ocean just then a voice reverberated in the air.

He followed the voice to the backyard of the club house. "Oh no" Benjamin sighs as a human girl sat near her dead mother crying with her face buried between her legs.

"Hello, are you alright." He asked moving forward with his hand behind his back.

Vanessa ignored his voice without turning. She kept on weeping.

"Hey young girl, what is your name?" It was then Vanessa recognized those voices. It belonged to someone she knew from her past but, the face looked like an animal.

"There is no way he would be here, what happened to him?" She worried.

Benjamin almost gave up, he was supposed to find that girl and now another girl…

'She is the girl?' He noticed the face of the dead lady as it lay on the ground.

"I am so sorry for your loss" He tried Placing his hands on her shoulders as he began to pat her.

Vanessa felt a hard and a weird palm tapping her in an odd manner.

"Ahhhhh" A scream escaped her lips when she saw a green creature with blood all over him standing right behind her.

Benjamin retraces his steps, angry that she acted this way at his face. Maybe she wasn't ready to be comforted yet, he thought. He decided to stay away from her and forget what her mother told him.

"No" . He still needed to find out some answers. Whether there were some connections between the woman and the Mermaids.

The beast stood there confused whether to go or stay. He tried moving towards the ocean that was when he heard her speak."Benjamin is that you?"

.'What in the world is happening?' he thought.

He turned around. "You know who I am?"

Vanessa: Of Course I know it's you. Also why do you look like the beast.

" I am still me!" He answered.

Vanessa wiped off her tears and moved closer to the dark green creature that scared her a few minutes ago.

"Why is blood all over you?"

At this point Benjamin noticed the blood didn't wash off when he dived in the water.

"Is nothing really. It's just some misunderstandings" He stemmers.

Vanessa's blood began to boil when she smelled the blood of the dead men on him.

"Did you do this?" She asked impatiently, indicating the club.

The question came way too early for him to answer. Without holding back he adjusted himself for a while. " Yes. It was me. I killed them. They were the ones that killed my mother"

" what? You turned your self into a monster, After all we did for you? Now you are killing humans"

"Who are you? I don't know what you are talking about." He argued.

"Of Course you don't, Benjamin. You made the dark side consume you."her words was like echoes of cries to his ears. No one explained why this was happening to him. No one explained to him how that girl knew who he was.

"Can you at least tell me who you are?" Benjamin almost roared. He was fed up with her. The woman failed to mention to him that the girl was far too complicated.

Vanessa stopped crying. She still couldn't believe Benjamin was the one that did this.

" I am Vanessa, How can you forget," She told him.

" Vanessa?" Why did that name sound so familiar to him?

"Benjamin Reeds. What did my mother say before she died?" It was a test. She needed to know the truth from him. That way she would have mercy on him some more.

"Your Mother said I should protect you at all cost Vanessa. She told me to find you. And turns out you already know who I am." Benjamin answered feeling more relieved.

Vanessa stood there shocked by his answer and it turned out Benjamin Reeds was the monster that killed her mother.

However, her anger soon overtook her as she realized that he was responsible for the massacre. The compassion she once felt for him turned to rage as she struggled to process the enormity of his actions.

As Vanessa looks at Benjamin, her emotions consume her, turning her into a terrifying creature…

"Murderer!!!" All of a sudden the human girl started developing claws in her hands then she transformed instantly into a creature very similar to his mother but this time her tail was 4 feet longer like a serpent. Scales appeared on her tail like never before. Her face grew in a predatory way.

Benjamin watched as the human girl transformed, turning into a terrifying creature similar to the mermaids of legend. He watched as a huge figure over shadows but him.

She attacked him with the ferocity of a predator, taking him deep into the ocean. Despite his protests.
