Chapter 7

"Are you implying that I lied to you?" She rolled her eyes at him seeming annoyed but he didn't say anything to her so she continued. "We were all divided into three groups, robbers, policemen, and hostages, The hostages were tied by the wrist, and although I was chosen to be one of the robbers, a colleague of mine Tracy complained about switching places with me and I did." She shrugged, pouting her lips as she stared at her wrists with a frown.

"I didn't expect it to be too tight that would cause my wrist to redden, that's why I wore the long-sleeved pajamas knowing you were going to be annoyed when you saw me hurt." She pouted her lips staring at him with angel eyes but Chris didn't look as though he believed a single word she had just said and she noticed that. "If you don't believe me then I can call her in front of you."

Chris was still silent and finding a fault in whatever lies she just spoke but nothing came to mind, it was so perfectly planned that he could not question it, she reached out to her phone and dialed Tracy's number in front of him and handed the phone to him. "Ask her all the questions you need to." She huffed, Chris immediately ended the call still unable to find a sentence in her words, and decided to give it up.

"How then do you explain the love bites, I certainly don't leave marks on you." He pointed out and he stared at them again.

"We went camping."

"Camping on a business trip?" Chris scoffed, finding it hard to believe her words. "Did the company suddenly decide to go on a holiday during a business trip?"

"Believe it or not darling it happened, although that was a day before we came home we decided to do it…. There were lots of insects and mosquitoes biting we didn't come quite prepared for it." She explained collecting her phone from him and placing it on the bedside table. "Is that all Mr. police?" She jeered smirking at him as he stared at her suspiciously, still finding it hard to believe what she was saying.

"Why didn't you bring camping things along with you."

"It was impromptu honey, since my colleagues had arranged it for us to take a break from work you know." She explained, that Chris was silent and had no more words to counter hers since she always had a valid reason he could find fault in. "If that's all them I'm going back to sleep, I have a lot to do at work tomorrow." She ticked herself in the bed and turned to the side to sleep. Chris couldn't sleep as kept thinking about what she was saying contemplating if it was true, he didn't know whether to believe her or not but she never hesitated but answer his questions and even offered for him to call her colleague as an alibi, he spanked his face with his palm wondering why he couldn't leave all this be, his marriage was built on trust and love, there no way his wife would lie to him so casually.

"I need to stop overthinking." He scolded himself but decided to go to her office the next day and confirm for himself if what his wife said was true maybe that way he would be willing to let all of this slide. He turned off the lights and shut his eyes tiredly, all this thinking was putting a lot of stress on him

The next morning Chris opened his eyes yawning as he rolled to the other side of the bed knowing his wife wouldn't be there because she always went early to accomplish more. He signed staring at the ceiling before gathering the strength to get up, he washed his mouth and took a shower dressing up for work while recalling would be dropping by his wife's company to clear his doubt as he still questioned her answer, he stared at himself in the closet mirror to be sure he looked good, he wore a tux suit and black loafers that looked perfectly good on him, grabbed his phone putting it in his pocket going down the stairs and made his way to the kitchen to prepare some coffee for himself when his phone dinged, he took it out of his pocket while preparing his coffee and saw it was a message from an unknown number.

He furrowed his brows wondering who it was that had messaged him so he unlocked his phone and opened the chat.

"Never knew you were this pathetic that you couldn't figure out your wife's Infidelity."

Chris stared at the text in disdain as he wondered who the person was, and what was the aim of doing this. He sighed in frustration, he couldn't even wake up thinking about everything else but his wife cheating on him, the past few days were enough for him to go crazy in his mind. He leaned on the counter trying to calm himself before he had a headache.

"Are you scared to take action as a man, isn't it better to be free from a woman that has been deceiving you all this time?" He received another message from the number again and frowned, he clenched his fists in anger and texted back.

"Who the hell are you?" He was so pissed he would live to punch whoever it was in the guts, how could anyone speak of his wife that way? Of course, he was suspicious about his wife but he wasn't sure, and receiving this text was more angering to him, he stopped making the coffee instantly losing interest in it, and made his way to his wife's office, he needed to be sure what was going on or he would go on a rampage, all the while one thing remained in his mind who was it that texted him?
