“Let me go.” James yelled with gritted teeth.

“You really should know your place. You are in no position to come against me especially after your father has called quits.” Declan said, shoving James to the floor. The front door opened and Mandy walked out to see James laying on the floor a few feet away from Declan trying to get to his feet.

“Is this really necessary?” She asked, glancing from James to Declan.

“Not really. Besides, it's not like I will be killing him. His father has already secured his life for him.” Declan said, releasing his grip on James. He turned to walk back into the building when James looked up and saw Mandy walking beside Declan.

“Mandy Ashers, you are in cohorts with him aren't you?” Mandy turned to look at him with a look of scorn.

“I already washed my hands off his actions. Doesn't mean I renounced my relationship with Declan Kings.” Mandy said, walking inside leaving Declan and James.

“Go home. I spared you because of your late brother and you fathe

“Hello General Stiles. I have news for you.”“Who is this?” A deep voice came from the phone. “It's me… Jordan Smith. I have very important news for you.” Jordan replied. “Ahh Jordan… How are you? I haven't heard from you in a long time.”“I am fine…but Tom isn't. Things here are not what you would expect.”“What happened to Tom? Is he in trouble?” The voice became low in concern.“Tom is dead. He was murdered in cold blood a couple of days ago and I haven't been able to take revenge on those responsible.” Jordan said. *Silence*“What did you just say now?” The voice came sharper this time that Jordan flinched involuntarily. “I said that Tom was murdered. The murderer involved in his death has been avoiding my every attack and has the backing of the Ashers company. I haven't been able to take any action.”“That's bullshit! Give me a name!”“Declan Kings. He is a nobody so I doubt if you would know him but he was married to the family of the Williams before getting in contact with

Mandy shouted, running after Declan. They walked into the building together and Mandy’s eyes narrowed . The auction hall wasn't less of the Smiths but she didn't see why he would spend money on a place like this just for an auction. “Something isn't right, you feel it?” Declan said, looking at Mandy's countenance. “Jordan must have picked here for a reason.”“This just goes to prove that this is a trap… and we both know that you are the only person that Jordan is willing to set a trap for at this moment. It's not too late to turn around” Mandy stated as they walked towards a booth that was reserved for them. Declan smiled seeing two seats with a table filled with drinks in between them.“I don't remember telling Jordan that I was a heavy drinker, but I am really appreciative.” Declan said, taking his seat immediately and pouring out a glass of champagne.“You really should be more cautious for a man who knows that people are after his life.” Mandy said, taking a seat beside him and

The spotlight landed on the Ashers booth signaling that it was their turn to advance to the gala hall. Mandy and Declan stood up with smiles on their faces and walked out of the booth. May looked at the both of them while Clara's mouth dropped. “What is that useless ex-husband of yours doing with the titanium queen?” She asked, without getting over her shock.“Apparently they are acquaintances. Didn't know until the day I won the partnership. Turns out he was the one who had her offer it to me.” May explained and Clara's face paled. She cleared her throat and adjusted on her seat, getting ready for the next words she thought to hint. “Well, I suppose it's a good thing that the divorce papers haven't been legalized by a lawyer.” Clara said and May gasped at her mother's words.“Mum, I can't believe you just said that. You pestered me to divorce him and now you wish we were never divorced?” May said in disbelief.“I have no idea what you are talking about. I only made a comment.” Clar

I haven't seen Jordan behave close to anyone the way he is with you.” Declan said. “Mandy said that you stay out of town. I would have thought that he was the reason why you came back into town.”“Well, I suppose you can say that. I got a call that involved a favorite nephew of mine. I guess that was enough reason to bring me back.” Jayden said and smiled. “Well, I suppose it was nice meeting you.” Declan said, raising his glass. “I have someone to meet.”“Likewise. Hope to see more of you around during my stay.” Jayden said. “I hope not.” Declan blurted with a small smile before walking towards May and Mandy who were standing a few feets away from him. “How did it go?” Mandy asked when Declan stopped before her. At the Asher’s group, Mandy was seated behind her desk at the office when the mini speaker at the top of her desk buzzed.‘ma’am, there are people here to see you. General Jayden Thompson and Mr. Jordan Smith. Should I send them in?’Mandy reached for a button and clicked on it.“Let them in and let no one disturb us with the exception of Declan Kings.” Mandy said. She closed the work on her laptop and shut it when her office door opened. Jayden and Jordan walked into the office, closing the door behind them.“General Thompson, Mr. Smith. It's nice to see you this morning.” She said, rising to her feet and ushering them to the office lounge. “Please, take a seat.” They all sat down and Mandy raised her head to Jordan before turning to the general. “To what do I owe the pleasure? Last I checked I was meant to be off your radar.” She said standing and walking towards a fridge at the side of the room. “Does anyone care for a drink?”“A scotch will do.” Jayden answered with a smile.

“Welcome to my humble abode.”Jayden and Jordan walked into the house. Declan closed the door behind them before leading them into the living room. “Please take a seat.” He said with a smile. “Is there anything I can offer you?”“Not really. We just came from the Ashers company and we're served there to our heart's content.” Jayden declined with a smile. “Thanks for asking though.”Declan took a seat opposite the two men looking from Jordan to Jayden. “So, to what do I owe the pleasure of two prominent figures in my abode?” Declan asked, his facial expression hardening as he fixed his sight of Jordan who was reddening in anger. “We are here in respect to what Mr. Smith had told me.” Jayden said, ignoring the hard gaze he was receiving from Declan. “I am sure you were acquainted with Tom, the right hand man of Jordan?”“Yes. Now I think of it, I haven't been seeing him around lately. Has something happened to him?” Declan asked and Jordan slammed his hand on the table. “Drop the

He answered the call. “Have they left yet? I mean Jayden and Jordan?” “Yes. They were about leaving before you started making my phone buzz. They just left by the way, ” Declan asked. “So what happened between the two of you? Did you find out what relates Jordan to the general?”“Yes. Apparently, General Jayden Thompson is the uncle of Tom… Jordan's right hand man and he says Tom was his favorite nephew.” Declan explained as Mandy gasped. “It would seem that Jordan had called him and told him that I killed Tom and was still roaming around freely in the city.”“So despicable. Didn't believe that Jordan could see you as that much of a threat to want to eliminate you so—.” Mandy abruptly paused with a gasp. “Mandy, what's

The hall went silent as the sound of the slap resounded through it.Everyone turned to the source of the sound to see Jordan on his knees holding his cheeks with Declan standing over him. “You dare to hit me?” Jordan said, raising his feet glaring daggers at Declan whose countenance was flat. “Would you like me to do so again?” Declan said, raising his hand. An arm grabbed his hand from behind forcing it down. “Enough! What is going on here?” Jayden barked, looking at Declan like he was the only one caught. “He hit me, this useless fool actually hit me.” Jordan growle. He wanted to lunge at Declan but Jayden blocked him.“Well, I guess I will have to clean this off.” Declan said, forcing his arm from Jayden's grasp before walking away.“What happened?” Jayden asked, watching Declan walk out of the hall. “I did as I was asked. He just slapped me from the blue before I was able to apologize.” Jordan said with gritted teeth. “I will get him for this.”“No, you will let him be. Dec

Declan walked down the stairs cleaning his eyes as he descended with a clear smile on his face. Two days had passed since he had a blood fest against Mandy and the men that she had brought. He walked into the dining room and grabbed the coffee pot for the machine and poured himself a cup. “Hmm, a cup of coffee first thing in the morning… who are you and what have you done with my Kazuka?” Declan turned to see his mother seated at the table with a plate of toasts and fruits before her. “Good morning mother.” Declan said, walking up to her. He kissed her on the cheek before taking a seat beside her. “Someone woke up on the right side of the bed today.” Elizabeth said with a smile. “What's making my boy all cheery in the morning?” “Nothing… I was just thinking of my plans for the day.” Declan replied, taking a sip from the cup in his hand. “Must be a very interesting day you have planned out for yourself if this is the kind of expression you have first thing in the morning.” “I

May climbed out of the car walking towards Declan with her hands slightly raised. “Mandy, you don't need to do this.” She said softly. “You can just tell your men to leave and we can all just forget that something like this ever happened.” “Shut up!” Mandy snapped, turning her glare to May who shuddered under the killing intent that Mandy poured out. “This is all his fault. Imagine asking someone out on a date and then deciding to let the person drive there.”Declan said, shaking his head, opening the door for her to get in. “That's no different than asking the person to meet up with you for a business lunch.” “It's the thought behind it that matters Declan… God, are all the men of the King family stubborn?” May said with a sigh while Declan chuckled in response driving away. “so, what about Mandy? Any news about her after your meeting today?” “Well, I got reports that she was approached by a lady and was taken to a station for questioning. The company was given a trial in a few days and from there everything will play out.” Declan shrugged. “Not if you cause the company to fold.” May said

May's eyes widened in shock. She looked at the man who looked nothing above his early thirties before shaking her head in disbelief. “So you are old? Declan, you don't look a day above thirty five.” She replied before reaching for her glass of wine. “Well, I suppose it was one of the reasons families decided to go against us. Certain families after discovering our secret became afraid. I suppose that was the reason the Deckers family decided to launch Project K-11. They wanted to make soldiers that could match our prowess which as you should know ended in failure while claiming the lives of many people. Four families… all jealous of the power we had decided to band against us and send us out of the city that we had built as a home for ourselves. They had even nailed the blame of Project K-11 on our family and after som

‘Reporting the death of the patriarch of the Asher family, Asher Keaton was reported dead having passed away yesterday in the early hours of the afternoon.’ Declan looked at the news on the television before turning to the phone in his hand. He had over a dozen missed calls from Mandy which he suspected was for him to chew him out. He turned to the maid and pointed at the wine shelf before turning back to the news. ‘News reaching the media now is pointing towards the Asher industries about another of their multiple evil deeds against the city. A construction scandal done towards a project of building a city facility which was supposedly done with fake materials.’ ‘Experts are being brought in to investigate the nature of the materials used to build the facility.’ ‘The Asher industries are also said to be on the very brink of bankruptcy with their stocks fallen before the twenty-five percent mark.’ “This is actually a very good cause for one to celebrate.” Declan said, reaching fo

Mandy looked around the office with a heavy sigh before going back to the work she was handling on her laptop. It has been a week since May had announced her innocence and sued the Asher to court. The trial had gone against them, making them pay over a hundred and fifty million in compensation at the demand of the Williams. After that, bits and bits of the company's confidential data happened to find their way into the social media giving them a black name among the public. The company stocks had fallen by over forty seven percent and it wasn't rising back, leaving the company a few steps away from folding due to bankruptcy. Her attention is drawn away when the door of her office opens letting Asher in. “Another one has been released.” He said with a bitter smile on his face. “This is getting worse than I expected.” Mandy groaned and slumped back against her chair in despair. She blamed everything on Declan… it was all his fault all for a pointless revenge due to an old injury

Mandy sipped from the glass in her hand, her gaze fixed on the television before her. On the table before her, some files laid open with a pad at the edge of the table. ‘An announcement has been scheduled this afternoon for the public residents of the city. The host of the announcement is non either than May Williams -.’ “Pfft!.” Mandy spilled out a mouthful of wine onto the files in front of her. She gazed at the screen in shock… May was alive meaning that Declan must have either saved her or the men weren't able to get to her in time. Either way, her plan had been flunked. She exhaled and gripped the glass in her hand till it shattered spilling over the floor. She stood up from the couch and walked out. At the other side of the city, May looked around and exhaled softly. She was in the Williams industries and was surrounded by different reporters that she had invited for an announcement. She turned towards a corner of the hall where a figure dressed in black with its face
