"you're awake." the voice stated as a matter of fact.
Nox steered his head to the entrance of the room, where he saw a stunning man with peculiar looks. The mysterious man had gunmetal hair which he tied meticulously with a black string into a ponytail. His gray eyes glowed with an otherworldly intensity, much so that nox couldn't help but tremble in fear. It was baffling that somehow this man standing before him seemed much more terrifying, no.. much more terrifying would be an understatement. The man before him was far more dangerous and was on a completely different level from the wraith. Nox couldn't even move his body, he could only stare helplessly as the man approached him. A subtle smile appeared on the mysterious stranger's face as he spoke. "Nox ráu Vlad, son of Aurelia ráu Vlad the daughter of the vampire monarch and the heir to the crescent wolf pack, the one who holds the blood of both powerful races in him, yet at this very moment you're nothing but a norm." Nox froze on his spot, his mind a mess but his heart was much worse, it was beating so fast that he felt like it was about to leap out of his chest. 'How does he know my name and why did he call me and my mother, Ráu Vlads? Who is he.. who the heck is he, what does he want with me.. is he going to sell me off to those humans? No.. no no no no no, not after everything I've lost just to escape.. I can't let myself be captured by them again.' Nox couldn't stop the array of thoughts that ran amuck in his head, he was so lost in them that he didn't notice how close the man had gotten to him. It was only when a suffocating pressure befell him that he noticed. Using all the remaining strength left in his body, he managed to raise his head, a pained grimace graced his effeminate face as he struggled not to pass out. The mysterious man chuckled. "Oh.. it seems my aura is proving to be quite unbearable for the likes of you, worry not, I bear no ill will towards you." As soon as those words left his lips the invisible pressure that filled the room dissipated allowing Nox to breathe once more. The mysterious man spoke once again, his eyes gleamed with a familiar recognition as he gazed at the effeminate kid. "It's to keep away the beasts which managed to escape the forest's dream curse. I can assure you that my aim is not to hurt you nor is it to hand you over to your pursuers, believe me if I wanted to.. I could have killed you since the moment I saw you unconscious in the forest." Nox took a minute to calmly consider what the mysterious man had just told him, while it was true that there were many opportunities to kill him he still didn't know what the mysterious man wanted from him, for all he knew the man could have just said that to get him to lower his guard, after all there was no such thing as a free meal in the world. Nox exhaled, took a moment to check his surroundings and various openings he could at least try to use to escape if things went south. He scowled when he realized that there were no openings and the only way to leave was through the door which the mysterious man would quickly be able to stop him if he did try to escape. As if sensing his unease, the man took a seat at the left side of the cabin where he could still see Nox, only now he wasn't in the way of Nox getting to the door anymore. But Nox still felt uneasy, in fact his unease seemed to have increased even more, Nox felt like such a person who had that much of a suffocating presence didn't need to do pointless things like blocking the door or even selling him out, except he was actually working for the people who were chasing him, which Nox doubted to be true. With a bit of reluctance he managed to speak up. "W..Who are you?.. no..what do you want from me?!" The mysterious man had a thoughtful look on his face, he lingered for a few moments then he gave a pleasant smile to Nox. "I'm Eren Von Michælson, a fairly decent wizard if I may, and to answer your second question, I would like for you to be my student." Nox was baffled, a mysterious stranger, an eccentric one at that, whose intention Nox had still yet to understand, randomly saves him and out of nowhere and suddenly declares he wants him to be a student of his. 'is he just stupid or is there something more to it? I refuse to believe he's just doing this without a reason.' "I doubt that, but let's say I actually believe you, I can't learn anything from you.. I have no mana and the only thing I'm good at is running away." Eren considered Nox words, he didn't seem surprised even though it wasn't common for a denizen of the mystic realm to possess no mana, in fact it was more like he expected it. "Did I mention that I was going to teach you to cast spells? No it would be close to impossible for a non-witch or wizard to learn it, except you manage to learn runic sorcery which you may as well just give up on." Nox merely glanced at him, resisting the urge to roll his eyes, he questioned. "You're a wizard, what can you possibly teach me besides spells." Eren didn't seem offended by the remark the kid made, instead he just gazed at Nox for a few seconds, studying him from head to toe. "Hmmm, your frame doesn't seem to be made for fighting, so you can't be a fighter, rather an assassin training should be more suitable for you." He mused, almost inaudible but the room was eerily silent so Nox could hear clearly. Eren spoke up once again, this time his voice was more audible. "You're right in the sense that I can't teach you spells but I could also train you to be a lethal weapon with that frail body of yours, of course you'd have to build it as well." While the eccentric wizard went on about how he was going to go about Nox's training, the effeminate kid was looking around for anything he could use to defend himself. He knew the wizard was a bit eccentric, it could've be that his eccentric behavior was just a façade but nevertheless he wasn't going to trust a mad wizard with his safety and for some unknown reasons the memory of the white haired kid who had slaughtered other children in that forest was quite vivid in his head. Eren noticed Nox's calculated gaze scanning the entire cabin, he couldn't help but smile at his soon to be student. "See you already have the gaze of a killer, you're halfway there to becoming an assassin." He paused as he gazed down directly at Nox, who stared at him with confusion on his impassive face. "The first step to becoming an assassin is have the will to murder, when you have no will to kill, skills can only get you so far." A pale smile appeared on his face. "Luckily it seems you're already determined to kill, son of Aurelia,... Do you want revenge on those responsible for the demise of your parents?." Nox eyes widened in shock. " Y..You knew?." The eccentric wizard sighed deeply as he stared at the ceiling of the cabin with a wistful expression. "Yes, I knew... I was an acquaintance of your mother and I owe her a great deal, she saved my life when I was younger." Nox couldn't believe what he was hearing, the eccentric wizard knew his mother, not only that but he even had a debt to repay her. Anger surged within him as he flared, glaring at the wizard with a murderous and somewhat hurt look. " Y.. You knew... And yet you couldn't save her, if you were so powerful why couldn't you have helped her, why didn't you do something when she was in danger?!!" Eren could understand why the kid would throw a fit, after all he would have done the same if he were in his shoes, perhaps he would have done worse. At the moment he couldn't do anything, neither was he going to try consoling the kid, the only thing he could do and the only thing he had to do to repay Aurelia was to make her child strong enough to protect himself from any harm that may befall him. He stood up from his seat and walked over to the bed where Nox was seated, he gave the child a somber look, his eyes were cold and indifferent. "Do you think that if I had the means to get there on time I wouldn't have been there to help her? Or your dad? By the time I arrived they were already dead but you were nowhere to be found so I decided to chase after you... Don't think that their pursuit of you is over, no.. they won't stop until they find you, so the best thing I can do for you is to make you strong enough to be able to withstand whatever they throw at you." He paused. " And as for your mana, it's not like you don't have mana or you were born without it, it's merely being suppressed and you can't use it because of certain circumstances." He lingered once again, his cold eyes bore into the kid before he spoke. ".. so in the place of having you learn spells that require mana to use, how about teaching you how to manipulate the mana in the atmosphere... I assure you it'd be quite helpful if you want to survive out there in this cruel world."Related Chapters

"Ha.. Ha.. cough* cough*. " Nox drew in raspy breaths, struggling to stand upright while sweating profusely from every pore in his body. It had been two days since he agreed to be the student of the wizard, at first he had labeled him as eccentric because he didn't quite get the actions of the wizard or rather he couldn't understand the reason why the wizard wanted him as a student. While he had accepted the offer, he was already starting to regret his decision.. Those last two days were nothing but hell, at first he had been running away from some insanely strong beasts which managed to survive the hex of the forest. Not only were they strong but they were quite cunning as well, and if he wasn't running away from those beasts then he would spend hours in the cursed forest, trying to resist the forest dream hex while keeping his mind as sharp as possible. Second, he was trying to feel the surrounding mana, although his mana was currently sealed, the wizard had mentioned that sinc

"That's enough, go get some rest." Eren, who had been watching Nox train for hours, feeling satisfied, suddenly found it appropriate to allow the kid to have some rest. Nox dropped the training sticks, letting out a tired sigh he glared at Eren. His face remained impassive as he didn't utter so much as a single word, yet within his mind, he was raining an onslaught of curses, all aimed at the wizard. 'Damned demon... This isn't training, it's torture, I.. I can't feel my hands.' Eren had woken Nox up in the middle of the night, instead of the usual assassination attempt he usually tried, this time he had woken Nox up to continue his training, although the young child was expecting his eccentric teacher to attempt something crazy, he didn't expect to continue the daunting and pointless task of swinging wooden sticks around so early in the morning. When he started, the sky was dark and eerily quiet, he had done it the entire day once again and now it was currently nighttime.
NOCTEM Doubt
'Tch! what was I expecting.. for a minute I actually got my hopes up, I forgot how mad he was.. less than a year? What a joke.' Nox could only shake his head in disappointment, he wasn't even looking at the eccentric wizard anymore. He had gotten a little excited from everything the wizard had mentioned, the fallen shadow god battle art in question was something Nox was eager to learn. If he could learn a god's battle art, not only would he be able to defend himself but he could potentially become insanely strong, strong enough that his goal of getting revenge for the death of his parents wouldn't seem so distant anymore, but he seemed to have gotten his hopes up a little too early. What was he expecting? For a sorcerer to teach him the battle art of a fallen deity, one that could at the very least take him more than a hundred years to master, he didn't have that much time on his hands and the mad sorcerer was blatantly spouting rubbish about teaching him something in which the dei
NOCTEM Irene
A strange looking young man was seated on a throne made entirely out of skulls—countless skulls which were without doubt procured from different monsters and humans. His skin was deathly pale, with eyes riddled by dark circles. His pupil were a deep shade of green while his iris were pitch black. His hair was onyx coloured which complemented nicely with his ghastly pale skin, alongside his mouth which looked like it had been forcibly torn at the sides by a blade as he had lines that extended all the way to his cheekbone. Although it was stitched neatly, he looked too eerie to be human. He was currently within a dark throne room adorned by several statues of monstrous giants holding enormous blades and war hammers. There was very little moonlight seeping into the throne room and the aura currently emanating from him was extremely vile."M..My lord.." A trembling human managed to utter, his face was pale and filled with fear. " W..W..We were able... to get rid of the crescent wolf pack
NOCTEM Sibling
"who?... I have no idea who you speak of." Eren responded to the question Nox asked with a clueless look.Nox gazed at the wizard blankly, he turned his head to the side, then scoffed, and spoke in an even tone."You're lying, you know something."He lingered for a moment then added."I could detect the subtle movements you made when I asked who Irene was, your hands in which you held the cutleries paused for a quick moment, and there was a slight movement of your brows."The wizard slowly put his food down and smiled at his student, his look was one of amusement and content."You're learning quite fast, I guess all that training you went through the past few days paid off."He looked at Nox like he wanted to say something but was seriously considering it, after a while he finally decided to ask."Say little one, who told you that name?."Nox hesitated for a minute, while he had come to trust the wizard a bit, it wasn't to the point where he could freely disclose things to him, but th
NOCTEM A hybrid's fate
"For my safety? You mean to tell me that I was actually born as a complete hybrid and not a failure, yet every single one of my abilities which I was born with, was sealed for my own good?.""Yes, that's correct. Like I said, hybrids are abnormal creatures, as the deities imposed a law which prevents members of different races from producing offsprings with another. in other words, you and the rest of the hybrids are not under the law of the deities, which means they have no authority over your kind, though I doubt you'd know the gravity of the situation at the moment but mayhap you might come to understand in the future."The showering rain had increased drastically and was now a heavy one, the campfire which Eren had conjured, had long been extinguished. The two of them were left without warmth under the rainy night sky. Nox was drenched, soaking wet from head to toe, his long silver hair obscured his sight, covering his face partially. Unlike him, his teacher was completely dry. It
NOCTEM Attacked
Morning came yet the rain hadn't stopped, neither did its intensity decrease even for a bit. Eren let out a little yawn as he stretched out his body. Although the sound of the heavy downpour outside the cabin was deafening, he could still make out the grunts of his student amidst the rain chatters. "It seems the kid found a place or something to vent out all his frustration... Hang in there, child.. soon you'll know everything, when you're strong enough to protect yourself." He muttered softly, then lingered for a moment. Something felt wrong, extremely wrong, if was a feeling Eren had grown accustomed to, from his countless years of battles and bloodshed. it felt like the scythe of a reaper was hovering around the area, while the stench of death lingered. There were traces of mana, vile mana in the surroundings, which wasn't supposed to be, despite the nature of the terrain... unless... "No... it can't be" He quickly wore his loose tunic and left the cabin in haste. Ap

"Is that all you've got? Honestly I've got to say it was disappointing. Here I was expecting something different from you, it's quite a shame that this is all the death god of Syx amounts to." A young pale man spoke with a bored look as he gazed down on the figure beneath his feet.Below him was a slightly older version of the white haired kid who had brutally massacred his peers within the camp of the forest. He was badly beaten and barely able to move. His hands trembled slightly as he tried to reach for his dagger which was sprawled somewhere on the floor not too far away from him.The pale man noticed this then took his leg from the white haired teenager's back and stepped on the hand that was reaching for the dagger.A pained grimace quickly found its way to the face of the white haired teenager but despite that, he didn't utter a sound.Leaning close, the pale man spoke."I think I was better back when I was still a newbie at Syx, yeah I definitely was. Fear
It was raining, yet no sound was heard, the familiar chatter of rain was absent, neither were the serene howls of the wind present. The chaotic battlefield which was once drowned by the cadence of their battle had become eerily silent. Everyone had their gazes focused in a particular direction. Their expressions, taut. Allies, foes, beasts, alike were all frozen in fear. A starless night, with an ominous downpour of black rain, a silence so palpable that not even the winds dared to move. Everyone there knew what it was, why wouldn't they? After all, some had experienced it first hand.. During the rampage of the shadow spawn, an incident none who witnessed dared to forget. Chaotic battlefield
All hell broke loose. The battlefield was nothing short of chaotic, littered with countless scorches, craters and webs of jagged cracks across the desolate land. On one side of the battlefield Aiden was being overwhelmed by the sheer number of summoned beasts under the influence of the beast god's Marionette. Although they were relentless and their numbers were absurd, Aiden cut through each of them with a regal longsword of obsidian and crimson design, whilst his blood swords dealt ranged damages to the beast hoard. Unlike Aiden, Cassie was bold and brutish with her assault, she swung her buster sword with a frenzied but purposeful intent, forcing the golden dragon in his human polymorphed form to evade and defend against dreadful and devastating attacks. Only retaliating by launching a barrage of flames at the female vampire whenever a chance presented itself. But Cassie, despite the frenzied attack pattern she portrayed, dodged them effortlessly. Her speed was outstanding, li
The Monarch's vassals
"Crimson sky?.." The dragon muttered with a hint of fear associated with malice."T..The vampire monarch sent his damned vassals?" Seeing the silhouette of two human-like figures approaching, the flame dragon narrowed his eyes harshly, then hurriedly spoke. "What are you two doing here, you have no reason to involve yourselves in our affairs." Aiden said nothing completely ignoring the vessel of the flame god, rather his gaze was directed at Eren who was focusing his attention on the beast god's vessel. 'Eren von michælson, the monarch of witches?.. something feels very odd, he seems extremely weak compared to how he was during the era of chaos.' "Hah... How foolish, we have no reason? The fact that you're in this very realm is more than enough reason to kill you. I thought the Monarch's told your deities to keep their playthings away from this realm." Cassie spoke with a scornful look as her gaze locked onto the dragon's figure. The dragon sneered. "Yet a monarch stole the reli

The marionette of the space god hissed, his voice laced with malice."..Are they afraid of me?.. it's amusing how shallow their thinking seems..""YOU..""Insecurities often lead us to committing or creating that very thing we're so afraid of.. but wouldn't that beg the question?, why are the deities after someone as small and insignificant as me? What are they so frightened of that they had their playthings hunt me down?"The tenebrous child lingered for a moment longer, moving swiftly and calm as the wind, changing his position ever so often. His rosy lip parted, revealing pearly white teeth and subtle fangs."Truth is, I couldn't care much about their motive, there are things I've yet to deal with, so should they interfere in my life with the intent of killing me, then they best make sure they execute it flawlessly else I will d

A disheveled Cassie gazed at the glistening lake with a detached look on her face, she had long abandoned her magnificent tunic for the mundane clothes which the townsfolk often wore. A gray cigarette hung loosely from her mouth while she held within her hands, a half eaten smoked fish on a wooden skewer. Her lips trembled slightly as she muttered. "Ah... It tastes like crap." She shifted slightly, craning her neck to stare at the evening sky which was slowly becoming dark. "That bastard, it's all that bastard's fault... I haven't had a proper meal in months. Eida, I miss you.. ugh.. damn it!" "And how exactly did you come to know what crap tastes like?" A teasing voice sounded from behind her. Looking up, she saw Aiden staring down at her with a mocking grin. Cassie stared at him silently for a moment. ..then scowled. "By eating one... "Curse this!!! That damned wizard, RAHHH!!!" A gorgeous man with golden reptilian eyes roared in frustration as he repeated the last five seconds infinitely. Besides him, a black haired man donning a black half-mask which concealed most of his face, was also in the same predicament, caught in a loop which made them repeat the same action over and over again, however unlike his partner the black haired vessel remained silent but his eyes gleamed with an overwhelming malicious intent. His gaze fell on the wooden floor of the inn where he saw a rune inscribed within the loop the cunning wizard had made. Noticing his partner's futile curses and feeble attempts to break the loop spell, he sighed, then spoke in a resigned tone. "It's a runic spell, it'd be hard to dispel even with the use of the deities' authority..." The golden eyed vessel raised a brow at his partner's words, with impatience getting the best of him, he snapped. "DON'T YOU THINK I KNOW THAT!!! For fuck's sake, we've
A little problem
The nightlife of the ivonriel continent was quite a thrilling sight to behold. Many structures rose above twenty feet, illuminated by the stunning glow of the twin moons— one of which was Azure coloured, while the other had a pale white glow to it. The market stalls were crowded, overflowing with races of different kinds, ranging from beastmen to elves, succubi and various human-like races, some of which were the witches, draped in robe-like attires and elongated hats which had pointy tips. This section of the ivonriel continent was usually active at the wake of the night—after all, the red light district made up most of the nelgeorgia city, which was one tenth of the moondale kingdom. Standing before a market stall, a cloaked figure ran his milky white hands across the various herb jars, aligned on the counter of the stall. His misty gray eyes searched the entire stall with urgency, watching if he could find the remaining herb left to complete his concoction. After a few minute
Prince of darkness
The hidden room behind the altar of the sanctuary of Tenebrae was nothing short of enchanting. It seemed more like a greenhouse—albeit a dark version of one. Each flower there was black, but had a subtle gradient of colors within them, some were black with blue hue at their tips, while the others varied from pink to crimson to amethyst and other colors. Most flowers looked like roses, while some closely resembled daisies. The majority of them were blood orchids and some looked like lilies, however they all bore a similarity, they were all black in color. The roof of the greenhouse was arched and the room itself was extremely spacious. Most surprising of all, was the soft white light penetrating through the black mirror-like material the glassy rooftop of the greenhouse was made from. It fell on the tenebrous flowers, illuminating the room with its enchanting glow and if one gazed deeper, then they'd notice the subtle glistle entwined within the glowing radiance. It was breathta
