Chapter 5

Nathan opened his eyes and felt the most-crazy headache hit him, he closed his eyes just as soon as he opened them, his whole body was in pain and it was like he was trapped in a world of pain, he tried to remember what happened and how he got to the bed he was currently laying on, the last thing he remembered was that he was going to get his money from that manager.

“Fucking hell,”

Nathan yelled as he jumped up, he looked around and realized he was in a hospital room, he reached out for his phone which was on the table next to him, and checked the time.

“Oh no,” he cried as he got off the bed, how did he end up in a hospital, he didn’t have money for more bills, and his sister was waiting for him.

“Hell,” he said as he got into his jacket ignoring the pain he was feeling.

“You are awake,”

A voice came from the entrance and he turned around expecting to see a doctor or a nurse but the woman that stood before him was no doctor, no, he knew who she was but how she got here was beyond him, this wasn’t a place you find people like her, Gianni Ulmer, the wife of the richest man in the country.

“Were you trying to leave? You can’t you are not okay yet, the doctor said you need to rest for at least twenty-four hours,”

She explained and he realized she must be the one who brought him here.

“Thank you for bringing me to the hospital, but you didn’t have to,”

He claimed.

“Are you for real? You collapsed and no one was helping, if I didn’t bring you here, you would have died,”

She responded.

“Well thank you for that, I will be on my way now,”

He responded as he tried to zip up his jacket, it was hard to do because his hands felt numb.

“I have a job for you that can change your life forever, you will never need to suffer again,”

She explained but he didn’t have time to listen to a woman like her, after what Annie did to him, the last thing he wanted to do was be associated with a man especially one who went as far as marrying a man old enough to be her grandfather, he already knew whatever she has to offer won’t do him any good.

“Aren’t you going to ask me what the offer is?”

She asked when Nathan didn’t give her an answer, he finally was able to zip up his jacket and looked at her, she was one pretty lady the makeup and jewelry aside, good for her to be living big.

“I don’t have the time to listen to your talks, I have somewhere I need to be right now,”

Nathan said checking the time, if he doesn’t arrive at the hospital his sister was at in the next thirty minutes, they might discharge her, he couldn’t stay here and listen to what a rich woman had to say.

“You don’t look like you should be anywhere else other than the hospital, I mean the doctor already said you need to rest, you might collapse again and you might not be lucky to find someone generous enough to save you,”

She responded.

“Thank you for your concern, thank you for paying for the bills here,”

Nathan said as he made his way to leave, he really was running out of time already but she held unto his jacket.

“What if I tell you I can make you rich in the next one hour, what if I tell you I can make you an heir to the wealthiest man in this country, would that make you listen to me?”

She asked and he stopped for a moment, as tempting as it seemed, Nathan knew better than to waste his time with a woman, he already saw through her, she was looking for someone to sugar her up since she married an old man who can barely walk on his own, but he wasn’t about to play her game, he shook her hand off his jacket and walked away, he was almost at the door when his phone rang, it was Nora, heck he should have been at the hospital already, he picked up as he opened the door.

“Nora, I am on my way there, tell the doctor I got the money,”

He voiced on the phone.

“There is no need for that Nathan,”

Nora said in a weary voice that made Nathan’s heart stop for a moment, his hand froze on the door and he stopped walking.

“What do you mean by that Nora?”

He asked fearing for the worse, he silently prayed for it not to happen.

“We already got discharged, Nelly and I are waiting outside the hospital but she doesn’t look good Nathan, the doctor said she won’t last a day if she doesn’t get treated and I know you don’t have the means of finding the amount he called,”

She sobbed, he was relieved for a moment, at least she was still here, he genuinely thought Nora was going to tell him that she passed away.

“Nora, Nelly is going to be fine, we are going to be fine, I will get the money, and I will come to get you and take her to a better hospital where she can get better treatment,”

He told his sister, his mind made up, thank God he hasn’t left the room already, he had a solution to his financial problem in the room with him, it was against his morals but if it means saving his sister and putting a roof over their head, he could sleep with a married older woman, he ended the call after telling Nora to give him thirty minutes, he turned to the woman and let out a tired sigh, she was looking at him expectantly.

“Alright, I accept your offer,”

He let out hating that this was what he had to do now.

“Do you even know what I am offering?”

She asked with a laugh, she was playing with him, of course, he knew what a woman like her would want from a young man like him especially when she is married to a grandfather.

“I Know what you want, we both know what you want, and I am willing to do it now, just keep your own side of the bargain,”

He responded checking the time, he had twenty-five minutes more before Nora would start panicking again.

“I don’t know what you think I want from you, you tell me,”

She said which got Nathan annoyed, women were so unbearable and he was this close to hating them all, the only thing stopping him was his sister.

“You want to have sex with me, that’s it right? You want me to be fucking you in exchange for money,”

He fired at her, she looked taken aback by his outburst.

“What? Where did you hear that from? When did I say that? As far as I know, I haven’t even mentioned what the deal was.”

She let out.

“What do you take me for? A fool or a kid? I am twenty-six years old and there is one thing a woman like you would want for a younger man like me,”

Nathan responded, he wished she would just cut the crap and let them make the deal official so that he can get part of the money to pay his sisters' hospital bills, he didn’t mind fucking her here even though he was tired, anything for Nelly.

“first of all, we are not that far in age, I am thirty=one, secondly, I am not asking for you to have sex with me in exchange for money, I would never pay for sex,”

She fired at him looking at him with disgust written all over her face. Well, he must have gotten everything all wrong and she was super pissed right now, he jumped to the wrong conclusion but thinking about it, what else could she want from him? He didn’t have the time to waste on that as he needed to go be with his sister.

“I am sorry I just don’t know what else a woman like you will want from me,’

He responded.

“A woman like me? What do you even mean by that? You keep saying that, how many women like me have you met, and how many have come to ask you for sex in exchange for money that you would conclude that’s what I want from you?’

She asked, he didn’t have the answers to her questions so he just shut up and checked the time again, less than fifteen minutes more.

“Why do you keep checking the time?”

she asked and he decided to tell her the truth, he was going to do whatever she asked him to do anyway so long as it doesn’t involve killing someone.

“My younger sister is sick, and I need money to get her treated, she was hospitalized yesterday and has been discharged right now even though she is still not doing good and that’s because I couldn’t provide the money that she needed to get surgery,”

He explained breaking down, he was just so tired, the money he had with him now still won’t do anything for her, it will only keep her in the hospital another day but it won't be enough to do the damn surgery, and she needed to do the surgery for her to be okay, he was so choked up that he couldn’t stop the tears from coming out.

“Oh my God, what are you still doing here? Why didn’t you just say that? Fuck it, Let’s go get her and we will talk after, what ward is she in?”

she asked, pulling him up to his feet.

“She is at another hospital not this one,”

He managed to say between tears.

“Let’s go get her and do the needful,”

Gianna said, as she opened the door, she dragged him with her out of the hospital and into her car, he was still crying, it seemed now that the dam of tears has opened, he just couldn’t stop himself.

“To where do we go?’ She asked when they got into the car, he pointed out the directions for her and the driver took off to where he mentioned, everything happened so fast that he didn’t even have time to process anything before they landed at the hospital, he wiped his tears off when they got there and looked out for his sister, he saw them almost immediately, Nora was standing close to a wheelchair that held Nelly who had her eyes close, Nathan ran towards his sister.

“Nathan,”

Nora yelled when he got to her, she looked so tired.

“I am sorry I took so long baby. I am here now and everything will be okay,”

He said as he hugged his sister close.

“Is she the one?”

Gianni asked coming from behind him, he didn’t even realize she had followed him out of the car until she spoke.

“Yes,’

Nathan said before bending over and hugging his baby sister, she looked so weak and almost lifeless.

“I am so sorry I took so long baby,”

He said wiping the small tears that formed in her eyes off,”

“Natty, I think I am going to die,”

She said in a weak voice that broke his heart.

“No, baby, I won’t let that happen to you, you will be fine,”

Nathan said as he swooped his sister out of the wheelchair into his arms, Gianni was already talking to someone on the phone, Nathan didn’t want to take his sister back into the hospital that rejected her even while knowing she might die if she doesn’t get treated.

With the help of Gianni, Nathan found a better hospital, since Gianni took up the bills, Nelly went into surgery the minute they got to the hospital, while they waited for her to be back, Gianni took Nora with her and got her food and a change of clothes, by the time they got back, Nelly was out of the surgery room already and the doctor told them she would be up soon.

Nathan let out a sigh of relief at the doctor’s words and watched his sister rest peacefully, it felt nice seeing her look peaceful after the way he saw her look like last night and earlier today.

Since it was already dark and she won’t be up until the next morning, Nora stayed with her in her hospital room while Nathan went to a different room because Gianni had insisted that he got admitted too.
