4:

Nathan's POV

I was unable to sleep last night which was why I woke up very early and started getting ready for college. Today was the first time I wished I didn't have to go to college. I was a scholarship student and I had to maintain that scholarship before it got taken away. I also had to graduate with really good grades so I could not afford to miss school. I always anticipated going to college every single day to see someone who was special to me before. Sadly, there isn't someone like that anymore.

I got ready and rode the bus to school. I used the last penny I had to take the bus after spending everything I had on gifts. I called the restaurant that I had booked to cancel my reservation. I might have to walk to school for a while until I get my salary from my part-time job.

I crossed my bag and walked dejectedly to college. I met Amelia immediately after I alighted from the bus.

"Good morning," she greeted cheerfully. I sighed as I continued to walk. She joined me.

"You left angrily in the middle of our conversation yesterday," she said. I felt bad about that. The person who hurt me was different and I was transferring my aggression to a completely innocent person.

"It's fine though, I knew you were angry but I still pestered you. We are not in an argument or anything right?" she asked curiously.

"We are not Amelia. I apologize for my behavior yesterday," I replied stopping to look at her. She was slightly shorter than I was, so she had to look up to be able to see me properly. She pushed some strands of her short black hair behind her ear. Her brown eyes gazed at me fondly.

"It's fine. I think I know why you are angry. Only one person can ruffle your feathers so badly," she muttered sadly. I continued walking not wanting to talk about it.

"You know I'm always here for you, right? Whenever you need me. It's always going to be Nathan and Amelia forever," she said with a bright smile. I nodded. I really was in no mood to engage in long conversations.

"I'm going to stick right next to you like glue until you return to your former self and that smile of yours appears on your lips again," she promised.

We both walked together as Amelia made silly jokes just to get me to smile. I halted in my steps when I saw Camila. I won't lie, seeing her still hurts badly. Amelia stopped speaking and followed my line of vision. I could not just get over it like it was nothing. We had been in a relationship for three years. Even though, she said it was all a lie, we still made some fond and loving memories together that would a lot of time for me to forget. She was walking with two of her friends. I recognized them as the girls who cut all ties with Camila when she was with me. Now, that I wasn't in the picture anymore, they became friends again.

She was chatting and smiling with them. Her long hair flowed behind her. She was telling them about something that intrigued them a lot. I guess she was boasting about her new boyfriend and car. I thought bitterly. They walked towards a car and the same man from the previous day came down from the car. He hugged Camila's friends after she introduced them to him. He kissed Camila on the lips and she wrapped her hands behind his neck.

I felt a sharp pang in my chest when he whispered into her ear and she smiled. She didn't even have the decency to do all this indoors. Instead, she flaunted him around college so everyone could see that she left me for a richer man.

"Are you okay?" Amelia asked worriedly.

"Why wouldn't I be?" I replied balling my hands into fists beside me.

"Why don't we skip classes today? Let's go to that restaurant...," I zoned out of what she was saying when they still continued to act lovingly in front of everyone. I glared at them angrily before walking away. I could not concentrate in class. My thoughts were all over the place. I was barely keeping myself together. I thought Camila was going to be my forever. I never thought this day would come.

I noticed most people's stares at me. They must have heard about Camila dumping me for a richer man. The college's oddest relationship was finally over. They must be having fun at my expense. I sat through every class miserably. I used to be so active in class but not today. I wasn't even in the mood for myself, I just wanted to get through this day quickly and go back home. Camila really messed me up badly and she knew it.

Finally, classes for the day were over. I sighed when I remembered I still had a part-time job to get to. That was my only source of livelihood so I had to toughen up and get to it. It was also a source of distraction, that way it would take my mind off the mess that my life was in.

"Nathan! Nate! Wait up," Amelia called out as she ran towards me. She smiled at me trying to catch her breath.

"Amelia, I know you care about me and you are trying to make me feel better. I'm grateful for that but I need to be alone so I can organize my thoughts," I explained. "I have to go now. It's time for my part-time job," I said and started to walk away.

"Call me later when you are home!" she yelled after me.

"I will," I turned around and replied before heading toward the direction of my part-time job. I didn't have any money to take a bus so, I had to walk. A car suddenly pulled up beside me after walking a few minutes from school. I thought I was mistaken. I didn't know anyone who owned such an expensive car.

"Nathan," a man suddenly called out to me rolling down the tinted glasses of his car. I turned towards him confused.
