The Great Cosmological Void was a dimensionless void of nothingness with no light, matter or energy. Observing it from an omnipresent perspective, it was akin to an infinite vacuum.

On closer inspection however, the Great Cosmological Void was not entirely empty; it had numerous infinitesimal 'anti-vacuum zones' irregularly scattered throughout it. These zones were actually independent universes each, comprising the matrix playground of all reality– the infinite planes and realms housing sentient lifeforms.

Every universe existing within the Great Cosmological Void possessed an intrinsic radiance that protected them from erosion of the infinite vacuum, albeit temporarily. Eventually, everything was bound to return to nothingness over the long span of a universe's lifespan, the only exception being if one could cultivate to step out of the restrictions of the universal rules and attain true eternity.

This constituted a universal principle; the Great Cosmological Void was invincible below the realm of the ultimate. Even the Dao Fruits of the strongest Grand Primordium Immortals were still subject to the erosion of the infinite vacuum as they were far lacking compared to the legendary Tier-Zero Realm experts befitting of the ultimate title.

Right now, in the vast nothingness of the Great Cosmological Void, a luminous ray abruptly appeared, radiating a peculiar aura that was both illusionary and real.

Like a comet, it streaked through at rapid speed towards a distant anti-vacuum zone.

The ray of light was infact a Dao Fruit, and its radiance waned visibly by the second as it travelled through the infinite vastness of the ever-eroding Great Cosmological Void. Fortunately, it was able to reach its destination right before its radiance was fully extinguished and successfully entered a safe universe.

At this point, the Dao Fruit was only the size of a small crystal as it pierced through the sky membrane of the main life planet in that universe, a behemoth celestial body with five moons and three suns.

Boom!

Countless residents of the Eternal Purgatory World–mortals, demon beasts and divine practitioners alike– suddenly strained their heads upwards involuntarily to gaze at the descending flaming meteor that suddenly appeared in the sky. Simultaneously, the same thought appeared in their minds.

"Another heavenly anomaly!"

Surprisingly, even mortals on the planet with no cultivation base at all did not find the occurence strange. For as long as they could remember, 'meteor shower incidents' like this took place every couple of decades.

The cultivators were better informed however and knew that the 'meteor showers' were actually treasures, ranging from powerful artifacts and cultivation inheritances to the occasional corpses of supreme beings. This freebie resource dump was not surprising given the peculiar nature of the Eternal Purgatory World they lived in.

The planet was the center of the Azure Cosmic Universe and had near-infinite void channels to other universes belonging to ancient eras, most of which were presently destroyed and former dregs of their original states. Thus, the Eternal Purgatory World was akin to a final destination warehouse unit into which 'waste' flowed in from these destroyed universes which existed as illusionary planes adjacent to the planet itself.

In this case, this godshard-bearing meteor was easily distinguishable by its crimson hue manifestation upon entering the planet's atmosphere. Some observers quickly anlayzed that the meteor was a fragmented remnant of some Dao Fruit practitioner, a rare incident in itself but not altogether new. As a matter of fact, the planet had experienced four of such godshard descents in the past.

In mere moments, countless powerhouses were alerted and quickly exited seclusion to chase after the blazing meteor as it fell, clearly aiming to claim it for themselves. A Dao Fruit fragment, no matter how little, was the greatest temptation to anyone on the dao path, especially for the deep dao principles contained within it.

This godshard....they had to get it.

*******

In a small forest located on the outskirts of one of the thirteen vassal human territories of Lingzhou Prefecture.

Three men–two middle-aged men and one teenager–had solemn expressions on their faces as they stared alertly at each other. Judging from their gear and almost non-existent cultivation base, they were a team of mortal hunters on an hunting expedition. The key point was that the atmosphere between them was very tense at the moment

and almost on the verge of a scuffle.

The reason was simple enough. Only a couple of metres away from the group, there was a half-buried, transparent crystal flickering dimly amid the verdant greenery of the lush leaves littering the earth.

It was the godshard from the sky! It had actually ended up landing here less than a minute ago.

"Tell you what, brothers, how about we get rid of the brat first, then decide among ourselves who gets to take the treasure?" The older-looking member of the team suddenly suggested.

The brat he was referring to was none other than the fifteen-year-old Fang Yu, the lanky teenager among them with strong features and an unusually mature disposition. Like his companions, he wore a robe made from animal hide.

"And then what, Uncle Zhang? Starting off so strongly, it's clear you won't settle for anything else other than claiming the treasure for yourself only and leaving no witnesses!" Fang Yu replied with a smile that wasn't quite a smile. He intentionally emphasized his last sentence for the benefit of the other two in the group, aiming to sow discord and buy himself time.

At the same time, Fang Yu mused resignedly to himself about the complexity of human nature. Two minutes ago, all four of them were on good terms. Now....

Uncle Zhang, or Zhang Rouchen which was his full name, frowned coldly at Fang Yu's words and suddenly unsheathed his blade, a basic sword forged from inferior divine iron. In seconds, he trotted towards Fang Yu with his hands raised.

'He means to kill me,' Fang Yu's heart turned colder when he glimpsed the schadenfreude expressions on the faces of the other two members of the team. Decisively, he quickly reached into the Taotie Sack hanging by his waist.

Taotie Sacks were treasures crafted from the hides of Giant Taotie Beasts and contained several cubic meters of storage space. It had cost Fang Yu almost all of his accumulated fortune to purchase this inferior-quality Taotie Sack that required no magic power to activate.

'I had no plans on ever using this, but now that it has come down to it.....' Fang Yu's eyes were calm as he retrieved an object from the storage pouch.

His ultimate trump card.

A water gun, no less.

Zhang Rouchen barely had time to process what the weird-looking contraption was before he saw the stream of some pitch-black fluid flying in his direction.

"Shit!"

Instinctively, he strained his entire body to dodge the fluid projectile. But it was too late; the corrosive drops sizzled loudly as they landed on the right side of his upper body.

The two other hunters on the team– Wu Lei and Cao Xin–made the mistake of remaining rooted on the spot in shock, giving Fang Yu enough time to turn around and aim the nozzle of his contraption at them too.

"NO–"

Their loud shouts were cut short as the drops landed on their Adam apples, corroding the area rapidly. In an abrupt turn of events, their necks snapped and their heads tumbled right off.

Fang Yu took in the sight expressionlessly, then flung the blade in his other hand through the air to land a perfect stab right into Zhang Rouchen's chest, snuffing the last bit of life he had left.

That done, Fang Yu engaged the safety mechanism of his contraption and returned it to his Taotie Sack, promptly making to take his leave right after. From the beginning, he didn't spare as much as a glance at the Godshard which was only a few metres from him.

"You're quite an interesting lad!" A powerful voice suddenly boomed behind Fang Yu, stopping him right in his tracks.

'Shit, I was too slow to leave the scene at the end!' Fang Yu's face immediately contorted into a grimace. At the same time, he felt his body get controlled against his will by a telekinetic power and found himself face to face with a kind-faced old man whose eyes twinkled with mischief.

"Has no one ever told you that trying to stay clear of suspicion makes you the most suspicious person?" the old man asked while examining Fang Yu with great interest.Fang Yu's eyes narrowed calculatively. The thin layer of luminous light around the man's body was all he needed to know that he was a divine practitioner and therefore invulnerable to any trump card he presently possessed. Although fatally lethal to mortals like himself, his water gun posed next to zilch danger to cultivators as the disparity in strength was too great.Fang Yu's 'weapon' was actually a foreign invention from another word; he was a transmigator from planet Earth who had been a factory line manager until he died in a tragic accident at the age of thirty. By some sorcery unknown to him, he woke up to a new body in the Eternal Purgatory World afterwards. But it wasn't an unwelcome development at all; he was now a youngster without a receding hairline. There was the opportunity to pursue cultivation– the prac

Within the space tunnel created by his teleportation divine art, Gao Weiguang cast a fog spell around Fang Yu to isolate his sensory perception, making his view appear quite hazy and distant."As a mortal, observing chaotic space with your naked eye can throw you into epileptic spasm," Gao Weiguang's voice appeared in Fang Yu's mind. "Actually, if it wasn't for the Mind Stabilizing Pill I gave you to consume earlier, you would be puking your guts out by now."Hearing this, Fang Yu sharply restrained his curiosity and waited quietly until they exited the spatial tunnel. The first view that Fang Yu saw was a large, black tree that had an exceptionally thick trunk but no branches at all. It towered high up in the sky with a vast stretch of empty space on all sides.Fang Yu turned to Gao Weiguang and asked, "Master, where is this place?" He noticed there was nothing in the sky where the three suns and five moons were supposed to be."This is not the main world you're used to," Gao Weiguan

"Fair enough!" Gao Weiguang did not seem surprised at Fang Yu's reply. If anything, he was impressed that the latter did not jump right away into a decision. Beside him however, Ting Lanyue and Yue Ruhuo were dumbfounded."Does that mean you're considering it? You don't have a screw loose in your brain, do you?" The latter asked as he stared at Fang Yu incredulously. Ting Lanyue tugged at Fang Yu's shirt and whispered, "Your only answer should be a direct rejection. The rest of us have deep history with Master, hence our decision, but it's not the same for you."The curious light in Fang Yu's eyes did not waver and he spoke honestly, "I'm not a dummy. I just want to carefully analyze what's on the table.""And that is? A death wish?" "An opportunity like this surely isn't easy to come by," Fang Yu said. "My innate aptitude isn't high, so this might just be my turning point."Gao Weiguang looked at Fang Yu strangely and asked, "Didn't you hear me earlier when I said your potential is

By the time Fang Yu thought to this point, about eighty percent of his Source Space had already been assimilated by the expanding nebula. However, he did not panic and rapidly exerted all his psyche power to manifest an apparition from the recess of his subconscious. It was a miniature celestial system consisting of one star, nine orbiting planets and their moons. Overall, it was a rough replica of the solar system of his home world from his past life, Earth. The nebula closed in, shrinking Fang Yu's psyche and his atavistic solar system into a singularity point. For quite a while, the balance held, but just as Fang Yu's psyche began to relax ever so slightly as if to celebrate that his spur-of-the-moment idea actually turned out to be feasible, the expansion of the nebula chaos cloud quickened out of the blue and the fragile solar system model was cleanly devoured. Fang Yu's thoughts abruptly sank into nothingness.*****'I'm.... I'm still alive?'Fang Yu's psyche seemed to be transp

The Glory Merchants Inn, although dilapidated and run down, was actually an ancient edifice that had existed since the inception of Qinlingjun City. In a mere span of a few seconds however, it was completely wrecked and reduced to rubbles. The culprits, two rogue-looking cultivators, hovered above the site as they engaged in an intense battle confrontation, throwing deadly attacks at each other. Clearly, the explosion was a result of a divine art one of them had cast in combat just now. As they fought, they paid no heed to the damage they were causing to the surroundings, including innocent passers-bys trying to flee from the scene. As a matter of fact, the rush was so intense that a stampede occurred."Hey, put me down right now!" Balanced precariously across Pei Xue's left shoulder, Fang Yu's expression alternated between panic at the situation and intense embarrassment. However, Pei Xue ignored him and did not stop running until they were a safe distance away from the battle zone

Beside Fang Yu, Pei Xue grimaced as she stared at the blood Avatar. The latter was looking at her disapprovingly."Master, I thought.....Pei Xue told me you were captured?" Fang Yu expressed his surprise. "As you should be able to tell, this is only an Avatar, not my original self!" Of course, the blood avatar was not actually speaking but manipulated the air around him to create sound waves. His gaze left Pei Xue and he continued. "I secretly left this on you as a contingency against malicious situations."Fang Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief. For a while now, he had been on tenterhooks with Pei Xue around him. The presence of Gao Weiguang, even only a blood clone, was a huge relief.Pei Xue opened her mouth to speak then but Gao Weiguang simply waved her hand, sending a rune flying into her body and freezing her in place. • Nexus Grandmaster   True Self Meditation Art

In ancient times, Spirit was both the trigger and path of cultivation. The first humans didn't possess mystical bloodlines like Demonic beasts. Neither did they possess godly physiques for that matter; that only started manifesting in few humans very recently as innate gifts. The earliest humans first discovered the path of cultivation when they accidentally utilized willpower to simulate divine abilities. In those times, it was natural that the humans possessed high willpowers. After all, they were born weak and were competing for survival with apex predators, ones that had natural physical advantages and additional bloodline abilities to boot. In such an environment, the easiest mindset to develop was despair. But of course, the opposite was also possible. In this case, strong willpower was borne from an obsessive desire to survive. From the pioneers who observed and analyze Demonic beasts in combat to create the first 'King Kong Fist' and 'Vajra Fist' utilizable by humans, the one

As Fang Yu opened his eyes, a surge of information mysteriously appeared in his mind. It only took him a couple of seconds to decipher the content."I have somehow temporarily traversed back to a mythological era and occupied the body of the innate god, Hermes?" Fang Yu was shocked. That wasn't even the most surprising thing. In his present state, he could access all of Hermes' memories. The latter was not human but belonged to a race of native lifeforms spawned by the Shadow Hive, an heavenly treasure unique to the planet Mercury."It can't be, right?" After knowing about the identity of the body he was occupying, Fang Yu became suspicious. The name, Hermes, carried a lot of significance in mythological context.Back when he was on Earth, he had read several myths about an ancient civilization of nine ancient gods that once governed the solar system. Each one corresponded to a planet sovereign and possessed corresponding innate authority of rules. From what he remembered, Hermes corr

"What?" Fang Yu frowned immediately. As the sovereign of the planet, it was an understatement to say it was an insult in the first place that Aphrodite's own people were this eager to marry her off. But above that, the manner in which they did this was extremely insulting. In the Venus culture, the dowry came from the bride's side and not the other way around. Clearly, this was an open scheme to drag Aphrodite dignity through the mud.Seeing her mistress' expression turn darker, Mika shifted uneasily and asked, "Shall I prepare your carriage now, Milady?"Fang Yu looked up in surprise, "What do you mean? They didn't even come in person to relay the message?""The message was passed along by a postman," Mika's tone was very soft as she spoke, "They...they said to come meet them yourself in the Sanctum.""Oh?" Fang Yu smiled coldly. "It seems my title as Sovereign is being seen as a joke."Given the power structure of the Venus society, Fang Yu was honestly not surprised at this underh

Fang Yu thought that if indeed such a situation arose one day, he would seek out solutions from the Eternal Purgatory Planet in his timeline to deal with it.His assurance was based on his knowledge of one of the top legacies in the Eternal Purgatory World, a very mysterious Buddhist inheritance from the Clear Heart Temple which cultivated one's mental state to the point of transcending mortal shackles. Their members were all monks and often offered treatment 'spiritual' services to cultivators with extreme mental issues from cases of spiritual encroachment or will possession.Fang Yu supposed it should be a piece of cake for them to deal with a simple personality disorder with their methods. Even better, he could also seek out other inheritances that refined mental purity and cultivate them to eliminate any external influence.Fang Yu left the bath and patted himself dry, rejecting the maidservants who hurriedly came up to do it in his behalf. This was the method he activated to see if he would discover anything unusual during his tour.Aphrodite hadn't shown her face in public since the unknown taboo incident occured, and Fang Yu was making this public outing in the hope that it would spark involuntary reactions from the spectators of the experience just like Mika had reacted strongly upon being reminded of White Butterfly. Coincidentally, only one person had fit the bill so far; the kid Mailo who had exuded an unusual emotion of dread when the carriage passed overhead him. "You.....answer the question!" Mika was both worried and angered when she noticed Mailo drooling instead of answering Fang Yu's question. She stole a glance at the Sovereign godd

  • Secrets of the Era Decline

It was possible that the event was related to the end of this era!Fang Yu had thought about this before. Modern Earth preserved a bit about the ancient era of gods in the form of myths, but the information was limited. There was nothing about how the ancient era ended, including what happened to the divine sovereign gods that ruled the solar system and what led to the recession of spiritual energy in the universe that made the future Earth environment a sparse world with zilch qi. Logically, it was almost impossible to imagine that a stronghold with such power vanished from the annuls of history without so much as clues hinting what led to their downfall. Now that Fang Yu had come across an anomaly in the ancient era, he instinctively felt it was somewhat related to the eventual extinction of the divine gods. This wasn't just an ordinary conjecture but also factored in the intuition of the ancient god he was possessing."Can I do anything to change this fate? Or should I?"This was F

The maid suddenly felt all her nervousness deflate like a balloon and the strong urge to speak came over her."It's just that you explicitly stated to destroy all the mirrors on the planet. The one beside you is the only exception because it was Sovereign Father's gift to you before he passed away, and even then, you always turn it away from your view!" After speaking, the maidservant realized she had spoken out of turn and hurriedly shut her mouth. This was after Fang Yu dispelled his remote manipulation of her emotional state.'This dao is indeed powerful, able to sense and tweak the emotions of her targets. But what's this business about having an aversion to mirrors?"To avoid coming across memories unsuitable for his viewing, Fang Yu had skipped most of Aphrodite's personal memories earlier. Now, he h

Before the day ended, he had already returned to his peak state. On a cautious hunch, he decided to ditch his present hideout before proceeding with his temporal traversal. Fortunately, there was no shortage of underwater caves around, so he didn't have to explore for long before he found one remote enough and also relatively comfortable. With all the conditions right, Fang Yu finally entered seclusion, activating the True Self Meditation Art to awaken his psyche within the miniature solar system in his Inner Cosmos. Unlike the previous time, he carefully observed the blazing star in great detail before casting his attention on the planets revolving around it. Without suspense, the defences of the two cultivators crumbled easily and Fang Yu's dagger stabbed into their hearts, claimed their lives in a bit.As their lifeforce faded, the two cultivators wore incredulous expressions on their faces. Su Tao witnessed the act and fell into a daze. Why did Fang Yu's act of killing these two look so...simple? These were the same people who had seemed quite mighty only a moment ago."Grab on to me tightly. My hands are full, I won't catch you if you slip," Fang Yu reminded Su Tao.
