107. Mr Cupbearer. Mr Janitor.

Gavin gave a knowing look at Evans, who stared back at him as though to ask if he might be mad for looking at him that way. There were many things Gavin wanted to say to him, but he held his tongue, not really because he feared losing his job, but really because if he said anything to the man, it would immediately ruin the surprise that was waiting for them in the nearest future.

Gavin swallowed his pride, as he had always done, bowed his head again and began opening the door to go get the equipment needed to clean up the office.

"Where are you going, you ingrate?" Mr. Evans held him back. "Are you so low in culture and class that you are forgetting that you ought to apologize and ask for forgiveness for your insolent behavior.

Gavin turned back around, paused and looked at the two of them. Mr. Evans was really indeed pushing him. But he bowed again. "I am sorry, Mr. Brax. I will not do it again."
