Chapter 7: New Skills

You guys might be wondering ... how was it possible that O, a (former) teacher whose job is to educate the nation's young generation, keeps on cursing?

Well, at first, O wasn't like that at all. He was an innocent person inside and out, even to the way he spoke.

However, time and circumstances changed him. In his previous life, people tended to be unable to differentiate between innocent and kind; good people were too often associated with innocence, sincerity, and patience. In other words, good people were often people who didn't fight back; a weaklings.

O realized it at the last few years of his career (as well as his life). So he fought. He refused to be the one who was always wronged, the one who always made the sacrifices, and the one who always gave up. When people gaslighted him, O would respond by swearing. Of course, with a graceful style such as the use of irony and satire. After all, as a teacher, O still had to maintain the image of an intellectual, right?

However, there was nobody here. There were no student’s parents who wanted their children to go to heaven after death, but didn't want to educate them personally. There were no bosses who wanted to satisfy those entitled parents, but did not consider the welfare of their employees. There were no students here. No family. No friends. No one. O swore and cursed to his heart's content as it helped to motivate himself and release his anger.

“Fuck!”

"Die, you piece of shit!"

“Holy shitt!”

"You goat!"

etc.

O took out a lot of swear words from his vocabulary reserve. Nobody knew how many swear words he knew, but certainly O's 10 favorite swear words had all been launched perfectly and repeatedly. If those curses were swords, then the dozens of zombies in front of him would already became a minced meat.

O only had a giant club, or rather a magic staff which he turned into a mace. However, that weapon was more than enough to reduce the undeads to a mass of flesh and bones.

O aimed for the heads of the zombies that were squashed against each other at the passageway door. After the corpses fell, the zombies behind immediately scattered. This time, O didn't aim for their heads, but their feet. The long staff allowed O to pound their calves and knees from a distance. One by one, the living corpses fell because they couldn't keep their balance. Of course, for every swing of his weapon, O cursed solemnly.

O then took a few steps back. Even though the undeads were now crawling on the ground, they were still extremely dangerous. After making sure there were no further waves of zombies, O pounded the undeads on the head one by one. It's like playing 'Whack a mole', only it's a zombie with a rotting face instead of a cute and funny little mole.

“Hah, hah, haha!” O gasped and half laughed. He didn't even have lungs, but he gasped like a living person. “Taste it, you ugly zombies!”

All the zombies had fallen. Their solid form turned into a kind of mud that glowed and was black in color. After O absorbed the liquids into its core crystal, some stuff was left behind. Those things didn't turn into black liquid.

“Uh, what is this? Item drops?” O checked the objects one by one. "Wow, there are helmets, daggers, shoes ... what are these ... underwear?"

If this was a video game, then those things would be items that monsters drop after being defeated. Unfortunately, there was nothing that O could use.

The dagger that O hoped could be an alternative weapon was rusty and had fused with its scabbard, while the other objects were too shabby. Only a black underpants that still looked good, but of course O didn't want to wear it. Even though O no longer has a wang, he would still keep his groin area clean.

“Too bad ... Hey, but the gift wasn't originally these things, but from the system!” said O, eager to learn new skills. “Narrator, display my assimilation level!”

Name: O

Assimilation rate: 2.01%

“Aww, yeah!” O jumped joyfully. "That means I can already use Fireball magic, right?"

“”That's right, Sir. You can also use Water Whip, Stone Spear, and Wind Arrow magic.””

“Ha! Excellent! Show me everything!”

The narrator displayed the magic formula one by one. Starting from fire magic, water, earth, then air. “”The incantations are, Ignis; Aqua; Lapiz; and Eurus. ""

“Ignis!”

A red magic circle appeared at the tip of his index finger. O directed the circle to the pile of junk left by the zombies.

BOOMM! A fireball shot from the tip of O's forefinger and created a small explosion as it hit the pile. The wrecked objects immediately burned to ashes.

Next, O tried the water magic. “Aqua!”

A dark blue magic circle appeared in O's palm. This time, water gushed out from the circle like a snake. O could use it like a whip.

SPLASH! O whipped the flames on the ground until they were extinguished. The more he swung the water whip, the thinner it became and eventually disappeared.

Next, O chanted the earth magic. “Lapis!”

This time there was no magic circle formed at the tip of his index finger. The circle was actually at ground level. The color of the magic circle was light brown. O could move the circle with the movement of his forefinger.

STAB! STAB! STAB! Three stalagmites swiftly stab from the magic circle on the ground that was already wet because of the previous magic.

Lastly, O casts the wind magic. “Eurus!”

A dark green magic circle appeared at the tip of O's forefinger. An arrow made of wind pierced from the circle and made a small hole in the hard hall wall.

The wind magic just now didn't have great destructive power, but had an extremely high speed. Besides that, Wind Arrow magic had one more advantage ...

“Eurus!” Another wind arrow shot from the tip of O's forefinger. This time the arrow did not move straight, but turned slighty. Yes, O could control the arrow's movement with his mind. It's a bit difficult, but O was sure he would master it soon.

“Muahahahaha! Look! I'm a real wizard now! Come on, face me, ugly zombies!” O said while patting his chest, as if he had forgotten his wish to become a Death Knight.

""Warning! Using too much magic in a short period of time can strain your mind and body!”"

“Ugh!” O’s tongue clicked. Even though he was a Lich, natural laws still apply. Everything must have a limit, his magics wasn't excluded. "Okay. Okay. I will use these magic carefully.”

O stepped confidently through the hall door into the next area.

The next area was much narrower than the hall before; perhaps just enough for two people to walk side by side in it. The area was also very dark because there were no candles along the passage. O immediately asks the Narrator to display the fire magic formula and cast the spell.

“Ignis!” The fireball that appears at the tip of O's forefinger is used as a torch. O seemed to have forgotten what he said about using magic a while ago …

””…””

The poor Narrator could only let out a sigh.

After walking through the narrow and dark passage for a while, O arrived in a large room. Like the room where O came back to life, it was also equipped with lighting from the Perpetual Candle. The walls of the room had square holes that held wooden coffins. Apart from the walls, the ground floor also housed several coffins. All the coffins were empty with no occupants. O was sure, it was from this room that dozens of zombies he fought earlier came from.

Apart from that, there were three other doors on either side of the room that led somewhere. O was about to decide which way to go next, when a series of growling sounds came from the door on the left.

"No, no, no! No! Bad sign!” O rushed away from the door on the left, but a series of letters filled his field of vision.

""Attention! A mission is coming! Investigate the area behind the left door!”

“Meh!” O ignored the message. This was not the first time he had ignored the Narrator.

“”Reward for cleared mission: Map and Navigation Magic.”” There was no such magic in the list of O's magic abilities. That was to say, it must be an exclusive ability.

O was reminded of his poor spatial ability. Without a map, he was sure to be lost in these catacombs forever.

“Haah!” O took a deep breath, though he no longer had any respiratory organs. "You're forcing me, right? You are getting manipulative, Narrator!"

O slowly opens the door on the left side of the room. His whole body, again, was trembling because of the growls ...
