The roaring sound really came from a beast. A huge, scary beast. O's vision of a male lion came true, many times over. The monster in the room took the form of a white lion and had a pair of wings of the same color. The monster's size was so big that the huge room was almost full. Even scarier, the monster wasn't really alive …
Part of the flesh on the monster's body had fallen off, revealing its pale white bones. Even the monster's organs were bursting out; his intestines blurted across the floor; its collapsed lungs dangling; its torn hull dripped with acid that made the hard ground puff out smoke. One wing was broken and the tip was dangling, while the other wing only had a bit of skin and a few long strands of hair. Part of the monster's face also fell off. His golden yellow eyes spun wildly like a pair of googly eyes. On the monster's forehead, a purple-black magic circle glowed.
In that state, the monster was still howling and struggling. The monster seemed to be trying to break free from the chains that penetrated its four limbs. The stronger the monster rebelled, the more entangled the long chains became; the harder it was to move the louder it roared.
O was trepidated. Even though the monster was tied to the floor, its head was still able to move freely. One bite from the monster alone could turn its bones into calcium powder!
“”Mission clear requirement changed: save the monster in the room!””
The message filled O's field of view as he was imagining the peak of horror when his body was chopped up in the monster's gigantic mouth. O's eyes widened in surprise. "Hah! You're crazy, huh?"
However, there was no response from the Narrator. O was hesitant, however, from the bottom of his heart, O knew that the Narrator, as the system which task was to guide him, would not cause him any harm on purpose. Therefore, O ventured to enter the room ... scaredly.
The monster eyed O sneaking in like a cat watching a cheese-stealing mouse. O responded fearfully, “Hey, calm down, Buddy. I'm here to help you …”
RAAAAAWR
The monster just got fiercer. From its mouth, a dark green magic circle appeared. From that circle, a torrent of strong wind flowed like a flood that immediately filled the room.
“Huek!” O’s whole body flew away, helter-skelter in that whirlwind. His body was slammed to the wall and floor several times.
“”Caution! Danger! Your body is starting to take serious damage!”"
“Damn it! You're the one who told me to come in here!” O cursed in his heart while his body was still scattered in the whirlwind.
The gale swirled for several minutes. In the process, O’s left arm and several ribs were broken and scattered. Meanwhile, the monster also injures itself; the broken wings flew away and the flesh all over his body shed even more.
The Perpetual Candles that had dimmed during the whirlwind were now burning again. O could clearly see the state of himself and the monster. They were both injured. From that situation, O immediately devised a strategy.
“Narrator, display the earth magic formula!” O yelled, getting serious. He was about to launch a strategy he named ‘the Backfire Strategy'. O then taunted the monster in the hope that the wind magic from earlier would be used again. "That's your magic, eh, Buddy? Even my cat's farts are far more dangerous than that!”
The monster roared. In fact, the monster didn't understand O's words, but it could catch O's taunting gesture very well. The monster used the same wind magic again. With his roar, a gale bursted out from the magic circle in its mouth.
“Lapis!” O cast an earth spell. He wasn't aiming at the monster, but aiming at himself. More precisely, O was aiming at the circle area around his body.
O crouched on the ground. The brown magic circle beneath O's feet immediately launches three pillars of stalagmites that create a triangular pyramidal framework that becomes a cage, aimed at holding O in position. As the gale swirled, O's body was not blown away anymore, while the monster hurt itself in the process. Now the monster's intestines were completely unraveled and other organs were being pulled out!
"Checkmate!" O said. "Now you can't attack me, while I can burn you anytime!"
A red magic circle rotated on the tip of O's forefinger. As he said, a ball of fire would immediately fly out when he said the incantation ...
GRRR! The monster growled, but couldn't do anything.
"Good, good boy. You must comply. I had no intention of hurting you!” O canceled the spell. The magic circle on the tip of his index finger vanished.
The monster looked convinced, but a moment later it went berserk again. The purple-black magic circle on the monster's forehead glowed and spun.
"Who are you?! How dare you disturb the Night Eaters!” Another sound emerged from the magic circle. “You are not of the Order. What do you want?"
Night Eater? Order? O did not understand the meaning of those words at all. "I don't understand what you mean."
"Nonsense!" The voice sounded so threatening. "Leave! You know the consequences for disturbing us!”
“Umm … Well, about it, uh … I really don’t know what you mean."
O wasn’t pretending to be stupid, though he looked as if he's stupidly mocking (he did seem clueless and stupid though). Apart from the fact that he looked ridiculous at that time, he also really didn’t know where this conversation was leading to.
“Quit jokinh around! Screw you! You naughty brat!”
A white-gold magic circle suddenly appeared under O's body. At the same time, a warning appeared in O's field of view
“"Sacred magic that is fatal to the creatures of darkness detected! Run immediately!”"
O panicked to death. Evade where? He was now still squeezed in a stone cage he made himself!
Quite ironic. The 'Backfire Strategy’ that O launched at the enemy now turns on himself …
~To be continued~
O panicked. He was trying to break free from the cage he had created himself, meanwhile the magic circle underneath his feet grew brighter as if it was about to explode. “Aaah! Wait! Wait! Ceasefire!"O managed to escape from the stone cage and ran towards the door. However, the circle didn't stand still, but followed his steps…“Shiiit! This is not fair!"The light from the magic circle grew brighter, making O's tension and panic soared to the sky. In that state, O remembered his crazy idea: separate the crystal core from his body.O's still intact hand reached into his hollow ribs and reached for its thumb-sized core crystal. He threw the core crystal towards the door, while his body turned around and ran towards the monster instead.“To hell with the rescue mission! I don't want to die anymore!” O lunged at the monster, right at the head where a black-purple magic circle glowed. If this holy magic was fatal to him, it must be the same for this undead monster in the form of a winge
Tens of pairs of red dots on the cave ceiling moved together like a colony of swarming bees. O immediately ran out of the room and closed the door. THUD! THUD! THUD!The door was hit successively. O did not know what kind of creature was eyeing him at that moment. He counted to ten after asking the Narrator to display the earth and fire magic formulas."...Nine. Ten!" O called to himself and ran down the narrow passage without looking back.“Lapis!” O casted a spell just as he exited the narrow passage. Three stalagmites stabbed and became a kind of gate that closed the passage. It is undeniable that earth magic and its potential as a blockade has become O's signature move.Dozens of winged creatures chasing O were caught in the stalagmite barricade. Their appearance was clearly visible now: a monkey-like creature, with a pair of bat wings. Some of them were smart enough to find gaps in the barricade, but O's magic was faster.“Ignis!” O shot a fireball from his forefinger. However,
Dozens of imps rose again as undead. However, their abilities are no different from when they were alive. They still attacked in groups and were able to use simple tactics. In fact, this time they didn't attack directly, but instead used magic, indicating they carried their battle experiences before death. O immediately found himself becoming a target for those magical attacks. O still hasn't completely recovered from the side effects of magic exhaustion. However, his position was now close to the door, so he could immediately escape to the next room, a room where there were dozens of empty coffins. However, bad news greeted him again. In that room, dozens of undead were gathered, as if they were waiting for him. They even turned around in unison when O entered the room. “Uh, hello?” O said awkwardly. He wanted to curse, but his mind was thinking hard and the side effects of using too much magic made his mind freeze. Luckily, O's body reflexes didn't freeze. As the undead charged a
Before entering the next area, O examined his ability list first. He had a strong suspicion that a new ability had been unlocked, because he felt a different sensation when using the coffin lid as a shield. Identification Magic (Intelligo); Fireball Magic level 2 (Ignis); Water Whip Magic (Aqua); Stone Spear Magic (Lapis); Wind Arrow Magic (Eurus); Black Hole Magic (Exsugo); Map and Navigation Magic (Exploro & Exhibio); Magic Mastery level 2; Wand Mastery level 3; Shield Mastery level 1. O wrote down a list of abilities that had been unlocked on the ground. As expected, he had unlocked the passive ability: Shield Mastery. This meant he could unlock the Mace Mastery ability if he uses a mace type weapon. However, there was something bothering him. Why didn't he gain whip mastery even though he had used a whip type weapon? Is it because the whip he uses is made of magic? In the end, O stopped overthinking and just enjoyed the things he could understand. Now the side effects of using
"Mi-mimic?!"Mimics. In video games and fantasy stories, this creature was a monster that could imitate the shape of objects around it, especially treasure chests. This monster would then tempt adventurers to approach it, or even open the lids (which actually its mouth) directly, just like O did just now. What next? Of course, victims who approach Mimic would be devoured by the monster, becoming its nutrients.O sweared. The Mimic’s grasps and pulls were so strong that O had to use both legs as support. Both of his feet step on the mimic’s wide open mouth. He didn’t care even if the fangs filling its mouth could tear its bones to shred at any given time. If he couldn't avoid being bitten, then let his leg be bitten, thought O.Meanwhile, O trying to use his weapon to smash the Mimic’s head. However, because the distance was too close and the stick was too long, the force it generated wasn’t enough. His blows just now couldn't do any significant damage to the Mimic. O then reached for
“Intelligo!” O uses identification magic on his new found sword.Short sword. A sword that is shorter than a normal sword, but longer than a dagger. Made from a mixture of iron and silver."Only that?" said O in a high tone. He didn't get any very important information. However, O soon noticed something else about the blade of the sword.“Roland?” O read an engraving on the sword. "Who's he?"O then found tooth fragments and a piece of tailbone on the floor, where Mimic had died. He immediately connected his new discoveries with the sword in his hand. Yes, someone named Roland might have been devoured by this monster in the past, and this sword must have belonged to him. Other than the sword, only his teeth and tailbone remained."May you rest in peace," said O, making a prayer gesture. "I will properly use this sword you left behind."O remembered his death in his previous life. Would there be people mourning for him like he did now? O felt a little bit melancholic. He remembered his

[Welcome to Valandria] In Langit’s all-dark vision, the texts flickered. There was no sound, no scent, not even could he feel the tightness of the muscles in his body. "Am I dead?" Langit replayed the last moments that were drawn in his memory. *** Langit has just returned from school where he works even though working hours are not over yet. A letter of layoffs (Termination of Employment) flew to his desk this morning. And that means no more work today, nor tomorrow. “You are fired, Sir. It’s been a pleasure to work with you." "Of course you guys are happy. My pay is no more than a cleaning service officer at the mall.” Langit worked as a teacher in a private school. People thought that the expensive private school fees would definitely provide a large salary for their employees. But in reality, it was not. Langit's wage isn't even worth it. Not only is it barely feasible, it doesn't even obey the government regulations. The workload and working time rivaled that of a u

O began to open the door with his trembling hand. If he had sweat glands, his whole body would be wet by now. A growling sound from behind the door traveled through the air, reflected off the walls of the room made of hard and compacted earth.Have you ever been to a safari park and seen a male lion roaring from your safari car? O have experienced it. The iron bars and thick glass of the safari car that ensured his safety could not prevent the lion's roar from shaking his guts. This time too, the sound that came from behind the door was like the roar of a lion, even more sinister than O could remember. Behind the door, O found a large passage. This passage was exactly like the first one he had entered after returning to life as a Lich. O thought, if every area was made with a similar architecture like this, the existence of a map probably wouldn't help him at all ...But O kept going foward anyway. If the architecture of this area was the same, then after the dimly lit large hall, th
