Chapter 265

Steven drove his car straight into Marshtown. He gazed at the trees by the roadside and wondered how things had changed quickly in the town. The town did not give the usual aura that it gave and ever since he left the town, he never even thought of coming back.

Steven just kept driving. Shame and regret grabbed him while he drove towards his former house, the one that he also lost in the divorce. He had to see his daughter. He had an appointment with the Marshtown chief of police that day but he knew that he could not make it through the day without seeing his daughter first. It was late in the evening, and she would be back from from by then.

Steven finally drove to the house and parked in the front. He stepped down, sighed and summoned the courage to approach the building. His chest was thumping loudly. Anxiety has never done any number on him like it was doing at that time. He walked to the door, and after doing his best to calm down, he rang the doorbell.
