Chapter eighteen

Elina sighed as she took a sip from the champagne that lay before her. It was a rather sunny afternoon, but she did not care. She just wanted to get drunk and forget about all of the terrible things that had happened over the weekend.

Elina felt like she was being punished. She has done a lot of terrible things in the past so it was not unlikely that some entity or stuff was paying her back for her sins. But she could have afforded the payment, could she not? But there she was inside club Laplace, drinking to the merry and chill she had lacked for the past weeks.

"You should call off the wedding immediately. How could he do this to you? Gerald is such a liar and a petty man." Her friend, Rosa, scoffed as she drank from her champagne. Rosa was one of Elina's closest friend, and wore a matching green shirt as her. Love, or pretence?
