“what are you doing here kid,” Samuel said with a look of disgust. “you are supposed to be training with those muscle heads in the fields,” he said and Peter ignored. After a while, Peter found a place to sit at back and open his book on mana control.“boy, is he not talking to you or are deaf,” another student stood and pointed to Peter, but he was still focused on his book. The spar got the attention of magicians around and some were interested in it while a boy wearing black combat gear was in the magic tower and sparing with a mage. Some third-circle mages also saw this and watched with interest.“Who is that kid in the arena and why is wearing black gear”, “he seems like a new student, is that not one of Samuel's underlings”, “yea, I guess this one of his doing again, let’s watch what will happen”. Peter, joy and Gerald left the arena under the hateful gaze of Samuel and Henry. He was planning on using the ‘spar’ to get back at Peter, but in the end, he disgraced himself. Henry just watched as the girl he has a crush on walked out with another girl and couldn’t do anything.“So that boy was that strong and Gerald got to him first, we have to find a way to make him join our fraction,” one of the third circle mages said and the other two agreed with him. The students of the mage tower are divided into fractions that seek to get total control and they are even supported by some nobles that are in charge of some affairs in the tower.“Peter, why are you wearing combat gear and not a cloak? After the queen ordained Silas as a baron, the village was renamed cliff city and plans for the renovation and expansion started.Early the next morning, Peter got up and prepared himself for his knight training. He got ready with battle gear, but unlike the previous day, his wooden pentagon-shaped shield was strapped at his back and his wooden sword was on his left hip.He made his way outside and saw Jude coming out of his room. “ Good morning Peter, you were not at the training ground yesterday, where were you,” he asked Peter with a friendly smile as both of them walk down the stairs to the first floor.“I had other classes to attend to, I won’t be coming to the training ground every day,” he told him. For that week, during magic class, the students were taught mana manipulation and with the help of peter, Joy could now manipulate man, and also increase her casting speed by 0.5 seconds.Sarah has greatly improved and could now create tree barks around her body like an amour and make miniature whirlwinds. She is now getting closer to being a second mage and so is Tina. Peter focused on his sword technique and footwork at knight training. He was mastering a new dragon technique that help increase his speed and he has mastered 80% of it. It was already the first Saturday of the new semester and Saturdays are for spars among students.“alright you weaklings, since we don’t have a leader among you, today’s sparing contest will be to know who is the strongest among you,” Clifford said as the students stood in front of him in the training ground. Clifford was noticing the tension growing between the beginner knight rank and sword knight rank students and stepped in.“alright boys, don’t interrupt my students' sparring. If you want to watch, watch but don’t disturb us” he said with a stern voice the students kept quiet but David was still glaring at Peter even though Peter ignore them.“Sir Clifford how about this, when the winner of the contest emerges, let one of us, any of his choice spar against him,” one of the boys said and the others nodded in agreement. How could he not see the plans of the boys he was sure that Peter would be the overall winner so he looked at him and Peter nodded in agreement.“Sure, but don’t be a sore loser at the end,” Clifford said. The novice rank student was surprised at first but later became energized at the thought of fighting against the knight rank. Twenty minutes later, the contest started again. David was watching the spar with interest, thinking of who would win the fight, before he saw the crowd parting at the other side and two girls walked to the front. The next week started and it was the first class for Peter and Joy in the third circle. They stood in front of ten feet high door and they could feel mana fluctuation from it.They open the door and step into an open field with trees and a lake. They were both surprised by the view and knew that this place was not in the tower because the land mass was large to accommodate the entire tower. Peter looked back and could see the corridor outside the door but at the doorframe, they were blue glowing lights. The door closed when they walked inside the room and they made their way to where a group of students was. When Tina got down from the stage, she met Sarah smiling at her, “you finally advanced to the second circle,” she said to her. Sarah advanced to the second circle of days earlier after a hellish training session with Miss Helen.She has been getting personal training from her once in a while and they have been extremely harsh, but thanks to that, she advanced to the second circle. Her nature affinity increased a lot after that and she got a new spell called ‘MOTHER NATURE’. It is a growth kind of spell, when casting that spell, for twenty minutes she can summon wines and roots from four feet around her. The stage of the arena was covered with smoke. Peter stood at his spot waiting for the smoke to clear off. On the other side, the boy pointed his staff forward and four magic circles appeared, “Scattershot.” Flames shot out from the circle into the smoke heading for where Peter was.Peter sensed the fluctuation of mana and his dragon sense made him know that an attack was coming his way. He channelled mana into his hand creating a whip from fire. When the flames shot out of the smoke screen, Peter flogged his whip forward towards the flames and it destroyed the flames.Peter sent the whip forward striking at his opponent, the boy raised a flame wall to block it. If it was not for the boost his staff gave his flame spells it would have collapsed under that single strike.Peter whipped the firewall again, and it started flatter, after the next strike the flame wall exploded, and the shockwave sent the boy two feet backwards. Samuel stood on the stage facing his opponent. He took a red staff with a ruby at the tip. The ruby glowed with a tinge of an orange hue to it. He got the staff from a merchant for a high amount of gold after his duel with Peter.The boy with the buzz took off his cloak; he was wearing a sleeveless top showing his muscles. He had too many muscles for a mage.“Are you both ready,” Owen asked the boys and they both nodded. “Begin,” he said and the boy with a buzz cut shot three rock bullets at Samuel.“Fireball” a magic circle formed in front of his staff and fireballs blasted out of it meeting the rock bullets coming his way. “BOOM” an explosion happened as the spells met midway. After a long while, the battle finally ended, “you did good kid”. The berserker said as he merges his axe back together as one. “You look stronger in your dragon form, I wonder how powerful you are now,” the leader said to her. The boys were surprised by the outcome of the fight. Because they know that, the boy that Peter defeated was the second strongest in the group.The boy that led them stood there with a frown on his face. Everybody at the table stared at the two boys, waiting for them to say the identity of the person who sent them.“It was Jackson the son of Baron Steven that sent us.” The other boy said proudly, as if proud of the fact that he was a lackey.“Do you guys know any Jackson in the academy,” Peter asked the people around the table since he has no idea who the person was. Jude was the same as him but he knew who Baron Steven was. He was the baron in charge of a big city in the east close to the border between Gales and Green land. In the class, students were inscribing tunes into sheets of paper. It was not other ordinary paper but magic sheets used to create magic scrolls. Magic scrolls are sheets with spells engraved on them, sold to merchants or adventurers.The price of the magic scrolls depends on the quality. The scrolls are divided into three grades. They are ‘Normal, Rear and Epic’ grades. So the class are learning how to engrave magic spells into the sheets. Some would blow up in their face, while most just created normal-grade scrolls.Peter found it interesting, as he tried to engrave the runes without using the steps he had gotten from the knowledge of the dragons.
