Chapter 10: A new beginning.

Hal made up his mind to do his best to get stronger. Strong enough to not be bullied by anyone, strong enough to make his way in this current world where only the strong ruled.

"Strong enough to make 'em damn monsters pay."

With that, he decided to focus on the matter at hand.

"Now for the random box."

Hal got on the bed and picked up the random box before opening it.

"Huh, a card...?"

Hal could see a black card with blue words written on it.

"The blank card... D...? He read out.

"What's it used for?"

Hal stared at it as if to bore a hole through it and then the description came up.

- Blank card: Gotten from a random box. Allows the Host to select a weapon from the store.

'Weapon?', 'Store?' That's new.

"Okay then, how do I access the store?"

"Umm....store?"

Hal called out and then he could see it floating right in front of him.

He could see the word 'store' written in white at the top of the system's interface.

- Store: The store is used for buying and selling weapons, potions, and items with the use of coins. Items bought in the store can be kept in the inventory.

That means the coins he got earlier could be used here.

Hal could see rolls of weapons of different Calibre arranged in an orderly format.

"Ok, then how am I to use this blank card to get a weapon?"

As soon as he thought of that, Hal got a message from the system.

[To make use of the blank card, hold it up in front of the system's interface for a few seconds.]

"Ok."

Hal did as the system instructed and held the blank card in front of the system interface.

A blue light came out of the system and scanned the card before showing a message and going back off.

[Class D Blank card confirmed.]

The slots of weapons suddenly changed to just the rank D, and Hal got to see different kinds of weapons to choose from.

"Wow, this is so cool"

All the weapons in the rank D slot could be compared to weapons used by high-ranking rank C's.

Hal could see different types of weapons ranging from daggers to long Katanas

His eyes caught sight of a katana that had a white blade and a red hilt.

"Wowsers."

The katana was a rare beauty, he thought.

Unfortunately for him, he had no skill with the sword and didn't fancy using it, so he shifted his gaze to the short swords section.

He could see a lot of short swords there but none of them caught his eye.

After going through it for some while Hal decided to move on to the dagger section.

He could see lots of daggers with cool names and abilities.

[The Habismal dark dagger: Rank D. Causes dark smokes capable of intoxicating one and Increases offensive abilities by 15%.]

[The Razor Krane dagger:Rank D. High-level offense ability. Increases Host speed by 5%.]

[Dual blades: Mystic: Rank C. Made from the shell of a Rift Turtle. Extremely durable, increases host agility by 10%. Special ability: Increases host Attack force by 5%.]

The list goes on...

Hal looked at everything and had a hard time choosing one. They were all good and he didn't know which one to pick.

At the end of the day, Hal decided to choose the dual-blade Mystic cause it had a special effect of boosting one's attack power.

"I choose the dual blades."

Hal suddenly felt the hard but cool hilt of the daggers in his hands.

[Dual blades: Mystic has been acquired.]

[Would you like to store in the inventory?]

[Yes] [No]

Hal looked at the daggers and then gripped the hilt tightly with a look of renewed vigor written on his face.

"To achieving great strength and to a new beginning, where we cower before no one."

Hal said as he looked outside the window to the sky with his hands holding the daggers behind him in a stance.

Hal held the daggers in his hands and took a few swings in the air, he thought he could faintly hear the sound of the air splitting apart.

"Hmm, seems quite sharp for a weapon at the rank D, but I guess it must be a sort of the 'system's thingy.'

Hal decided to store the weapon in the inventory and called out.

"Inventory."

As soon as he called out for his inventory, a graphical representation of a storage unit with dozens of slots appeared in the air.

But it was empty. As befitting a level 1 user, meaning the dual blades were going to be the first weapons to be stored there.

Hal closed the system's interface after storing the daggers and decided to go to bed.

It had been quite a long day.

Five days later.

'Pant, pant...'

Hal paced his breathing as he ran around the perimeter of the hospital.

He came to a stop beside a bench inside the hospital's premises and sat down.

Tti-ring.

[Daily quest has been completed.]

Squat: 100 times, Complete (100/100)

Hal had focused more on increasing his strength over other stats, so his strength had gone past 20 already.

"Add all three points to agility."

He was trying to keep his stats quite balanced, but thought strength was more important so he had put most of his points received into the strength stat.

Now for the second reward.

"Accept the second reward."

Hal called out to the system.

[The password gives you access to instant dungeons, where you get to kill monsters at different ranks.]

[Quest: clear the rank D instant dungeon singlehandedly.]

[Note: make use of the password to gain access to the instant dungeon. The instant dungeon will be found at the entrance of the Whitley football stadium.]

[Punishments for failure of quest: Host will be transferred to the penalty zone. -5 points from all stats.]
