'The exoskeleton looks pretty tough...can my dagger even damage it?' Quite obviously, a dagger would have a lesser effect on such a carapace than a longsword, which Hal used before. So, if he wanted to cause a deep wound, he needed to strengthen his attack. With that thought, he returned the dual-blade Mystic to his inventory and summoned the daggers he got from his fight against the boss monster of the rank D dungeon. Hal calmly summoned the 'Steel Talons of Kaisan Lycan.' Swish! It appeared in his hands like it had always been there. "Steel." That was what Hal chose to call the dagger. The reason why he chose to use this dagger was because it was of a higher class than Mystic, hence; it was more durable. Hal took deep breaths as he ran towards the monster. "Fuu-Woo!" This was the first time he would be facing off against a rank C dungeon boss all alone. He could remember the battle against the rank D dungeon boss, that was issued by the system, even that was a little bit tough and took a lot of his energy before he could take it down. Now imagine facing a boss monster stronger than that, and not just any monster, a fire elemental monster. Hal held the dagger in the reverse grip. He figured that it'd be easier to hurt the monster by holding the blade in that fashion. "Kereuk." Finally, the Pyrex stood before Hal. Then, it raised its two front legs and bent them at an angle "What is it trying to do?" His curiosity lasted only for a brief moment — Hal's eyes opened wide in an instant. SLAM! If he hadn't instinctively tilted his body out of the way, the Pyrex legs would have penetrated his chest just now. Hal rolled to the side as the pyrex immediately followed up its attack by swinging its tail, which had a sting at the end, at him. "Hmm, if I had gotten hit by that, I would have ended up with a hole in my chest." "Better get serious." Hal's glare sharpened even more. 'Here it comes.' Swish! The pyrex continuously swung its sting at Hal and didn't let up on its attack. The attacks were like bullets continually firing down at him. But Hal remained calm and pushed his perception to the limit. Left He ducked his head lower to evade the Pyrex's right front leg. Right He tilted his body back and let the Pyrex leg brush past him before taking a step forward. Hal evaded the pyrex attacks one by one and got closer and closer to the monster. Meanwhile, Jack and the rest of the Hunters stood in front of a cave and couldn't quite believe their eyes. They could see a lone figure fighting against a monster, and a lot of other dead monsters lay scattered everywhere. Earlier in the cave "Ok guys, I have a plan," Jack said as he stood up and walked towards his team; he folded his arms, with a complicated look on his face as he stopped in front of them. "Ok, sir, what is it?" "Well as much as I don't like this plan myself, it's the only choice we have." "We're going to attack them from all sides. North, east, west, and south." "And how are we going to do that?" "We pick ourselves in groups of twos and sneak attack them from all sides, gradually reducing their numbers and close in on them." "But..." "But what sir?" The rest of the Hunters asked, with a look of worry. "But, the real objective can only be achieved, if all four groups make it." "If anything goes wrong, with any group, anything even as much as the loss of one person. Then the whole plan falls to ruin." "So, you all have to promise me, that you'll give this your best shot." "Ok?" Jack waited for their reply, but no one answered. They all could still remember the way the Pyrex had killed their mates. The sheer number of the monsters alone was enough to deter anyone from attacking, not to talk of just 6 of them. But Jack wasn't going to have any of that. "What, seriously? You all won't answer?" "What? What do you think your jobs are?" "Is it not to hunt? To kill those damn monsters, is that not why we are hunters?" "Look, we don't just do this for the money and fame, we do these to protect the citizens of our great country, we do this to protect our loved ones, and anyone putting on this suit and signifies as a Hunter and isn't ready to do his or her job as a Hunter, and isn't ready to protect the citizens isn't worthy of being called one!" The rest of the Hunters all shifted on their spot, bearing looks of discomfort and worry. Of course, they knew what they signed up for, but that didn't mean they should purposefully lose their lives in the process. "Look, guys," Jack continued when he still didn't get any reply from them. "It's either us or the citizens." "If we don't clear this dungeon, the gate is going to open and let loose this very creature you all are running away from to the outside world, and when that happens, innocent civilians will get hurt." "And that's why we have to do it, to protect those we love." "I have a little girl at home, which you all know about, so don't think I have nothing to lose. I hope to get back to her as soon as possible, but that won't happen if we don't clear this gate." "So come on guys." Jack finished his speech with a pleading look, and gradually the Hunters stood up. "I can't promise that it would be easy, but we've got to do it," Jack said, giving them the last push of hope they needed. The Hunters stood with a look of determination on their faces as they got ready to fight. "I hope we all still remember the battle formation?." Jack asked "Umm, I would need a little more briefing on it, sir." A young Hunter said. "Ok, then," Jack replied and they went through the plan again. "Ok guys, it's now or never. The longer we stay in here, the more time passes leading to the opening of the gate to the outside world, which we can't afford." Jack took one more look at the team and, in one swift motion, turned around and started walking toward the mouth of the cave. "Gear up!" He shouted behind them, putting on the helmet of his war suit. And so they set out, to a battle that will determine their futures.Related Chapters

As he was about to start talking, the dungeon started shaking, which indicated that the ten-minute lapse time had been completed, and it was now time for the return gate to appear. Explain yourself probably, now, or else I will put you down!" He increased his strength on the Katana, to put some action to his words. "Ok, sir. So as I was saying, I am an E-rank Hunter, or should I say was, as I have been reawakened!" "Huh? You were reawakened? Pfft!" It seemed like my story didn't appeal to Sir Jack, which meant I needed to add more spice to make it more appealing. "Well, the thing is, I just got reawakened a few weeks back during a raid with my squad that went wrong. You must have had it, right?" "No, I didn't!" Sir Jack was serious now and twisted his blades in a fast and weird way that sent his daggers flying, and quickly pointed the tip of the sword to his neck. "I don't have time for this, so you better give me a good reason not to drop you now." He said with a mean loo

Omnix: Celestial system Chapter 22: Happy Birthday!
It has been two days since the incident at the C-ranked gate. Today was the first day of June, which meant they just entered a new month. But to Hal, it wasn't because it was a new month that made it special to him, no, it was because today was a special day for his little sister. Today was her birthday, and she was going to be 17 years of age; today, it was per the course that Hal had woken up extremely early today, to make preparations for the celebration of her birthday. As he stood, making meatballs by the slab in the kitchen, the lady of the day, his little sister came into the sitting room. As soon as she entered, she began sniffing around while rubbing her eyes from sleep. "Huh? What's this?" She asked groggily. "Happy birthday!" Hal excitedly shouted. "Huh?" Bethany was shocked and stood rooted to the spot. She couldn't believe her eyes, the whole room was decorated with birthday ribbons and balloons. The glowing eyes of the raging monster, the relentless attack of the Hunters, the fatal strike... Thud. His body slammed hard against the ground. "No!" he heard a voice scream. It sounded so distant, he thought. Why? He was dying. Hal lay motionless, staring into blank space, lost in thought. So, this was how he would die—like a weak, miserable E-rank Hunter. Worst of all, he didn't even get the chance to exact his revenge on those damned monsters. As he lay there, feeling the life slip away from him, like sand in an hourglass, he began to close his eyes. Suddenly, a blue screen appeared in front of him, with words written in white. [Potential Host found] [Do you wish to accept?] [Yes] [No] What was this? he thought. Well, it didn’t matter now; he was dead anyway, so there was no use being careful in making a decision. He decided to just choose "Yes." With that, he selected the "Yes" option. The next words filled him with surprise. [Congratulations, Hal Rodgr

Hal woke up to the sound of his phone vibrating, he reached out his hand to take it from underneath the pillow where he had stuffed it before going to bed last night. Looking at the screen of his phone, he saw that it was a distress call from the 'MHO', which indicated that a gate had spawned not too far from his location and that a raid was about to go down. "A raid by this time of the day. Didn't they just clear a gate yesterday?" "Why the heck had another one spawned so soon and near his location as well." Hal thought. He looked at the time on his handset and saw that the time was just a little past seven in the morning. Jumping off his bed, he tried his best not to wake his little sister and slipped into the bathroom to take a quick bath. "Luckily enough, today was a Saturday, so after the gate had been cleared, he'd had the rest of today to spend with his little sis." In the dark interior of a cave-like passage, Mister Heights and the rest of the Hunter could be seen, having just stepped through the gates into a D-rank dungeon. Mister Heights switched on the torch in the middle of the specially designed suit, ordering the rest to do so. The passage, once shrouded in darkness, had now been illuminated enough to walk through. **** "We've walked far, haven't we?. Shouldn't we have come across some monsters by now?". "That's right, this place seems weird." "It gives me the creeps." In front, Mister Heights suddenly raised his hands to signal for silence. "Huh? What is it?" "There is another path." Hal and the rest of the Hunters quickly rushed forward "Huh, it's true." Just as Mister Heights had said, there was an entrance in the walls of the passage, but what was surprising about it wasn't its existence but the extremely weird energy coming from it. Mister Heights quickly gathered the Hunters to address them. "As you all
Omnix: Celestial system chapter 4: Survival!
Survival. In a difficult or life-threatening situation, the human mind always found a way to survive, it was sort of a reflex action. The monster as if having given them enough time to talk, screeched loudly while charging forward. "Krrrrchhh!" Mister Heights also charged in while tightening his grip on his axe. He lifted the axe above his head and slashed down on the monster, but it was too fast. It easily dodged it and slammed him away. The other hunters, seeing their leader hurt quickly rushed in to help. Jason, who made use of a broadsword, screamed while swinging down hard on the monster, it easily dodged him and stabbed its claws into his shoulders. "Ahhh!" He screamed as he was thrown away by the monster. The long-range hunters who made use of weapons such as arrows and the like fired continuously at it, but it evaded them all by flying around in the air. The hunters fought bravely, dealing a lot of damage to the monster, until they lost yet another hunter. However, at least the monster had visibly reduced in speed and strength. "Just a little more, and we can get out of this freakish hellhole," they all thought. As Hal went in for another strike, the monster suddenly raised its already damaged wings and swung at him. He managed to slightly tilt his body backward but still got stabbed right underneath his heart. "If it had been any bit higher than that, I'd be dead by now," he thought as he spurted blood out of his mouth. The monster swung him away and he ended up getting thrown beside the chair made up of metallic scraps. "Hal! Hal!" He had an urgent voice call him and looked up to see the worried look of Freya running towards him. "Freya? What are you doing here? I thought I told you to run." She knelt beside him while quickly trying to heal him. "I couldn't, I just couldn't" He looked up at her and smiled. "F

The rest of the Hunters, who had also arrived, looked and held their breaths, in tense expectation of a fight that was supposed to be between an E-rank Hunter and a B-rank Hunter. But could Hal, the E-rank Hunter, actually be called one? Considering the level of skill he showed against the boss monster, which made him seem unfazed, fighting against Sir Jack was a B-rank Hunter with years of experience. But that wasn't true. Hal was thinking of how he was going to combat a B-rank Hunter with years of experience under the belt and proficient use of the Katana blades, with nothing but a pair of daggers. Hal's grip on his daggers tightened. The air between them was charged with something unspoken yet unmistakably dangerous. Sir Jack stood firm, katana still humming from the force of his swing, his eyes locked onto Hal like a predator sizing its prey. The breeze settled, but the weight of the moment did not. Chapter 18: Abnormal E-ranker
The Hunters couldn't believe their eyes, as they watched the lone figure battle the monster. "Just who could that be?" They all thought. All members were accounted for, including the dead, so just who was that? But they never knew the so-called E-rank they brought in was the one fighting against a King tier monster. Even though they were watching from afar, those attacks were so ferocious they sent shivers down their spine. However, that man was effectively evading all the attacks and even seemed to have the upper hand, as he was getting closer to the monster and posing more threats to it. As everyone was wondering who that was, Sir Jack quickly made use of the eye lens piece attached to the helmet and zoomed in on the fight. "Huh!" He let out a gasp, not believing the face that showed in his lenses. It was that of the E-rank Hunter, he had hired. Jack felt his brain shut down for the slightest second, as he couldn't believe the smooth and efficient movements coming from
Chapter 17: Supreme Solstice
The sound of swords cutting flesh, and the sound of heads being ripped off by monsters could be heard, and the smell of blood and gore filled everywhere, this place could have been said to be a battlefield, except the battle was between just twelve Hunters and a horde of monsters, so it could almost be said to be a one-sided massacre. "Retreat!" The voice of Mr. Jack could be heard calling out to the rest of the Hunters, as the monsters were just too many and couldn't be dealt with head-on by just a couple of Hunters; that would be suicide. If they were going to win this thing, they needed a solid plan and fast. "Everyone, head towards that cave." Mr Jack shouted as he pointed towards a cave a couple of feet away from where they were fighting. The rest of the Hunters yielded his call and started running toward the cave while still fending off the monsters. "Ah! No, no!" A Hunter screamed as he was dragged by a monster while running before being torn to pieces by its mates. "
Chapter 16 ***
chapter 16 Hal only needed two minutes to race to the designated location, and upon arrival, he noticed that a crowd had already gathered. The man who appeared to be the leader of the group waved his hand at Hal. "Welcome, young man! You must be Hal Rodgraim, right?" He said enthusiastically. "Yes, that's me," Hal replied. "Great! I take it you've seen the terms needed to participate in this raid?" "Yes, sir." "And you've agreed to them?" "Yes." "Good, then let's get going." Before proceeding, Hal took a moment to study the expressions of each team member. The leader, a tall and lanky man with some scruff on his chin and long hair, wielded two katanas and appeared to be in his early forties. The other members of the team seemed unremarkable, so Hal didn’t spend much time observing them. The team consisted of six C-rank members and two D-rank members, with the leader being at the B-rank, they seemed quite strong, so their claim of handling all the killing di

She said as her eyes formed into slits. "Yh." "I promise I won't be late." Bethany's eyes suddenly turned into circles as she made a puppy face. "Well then, could you get me a Maves Chocolate bar?"
