“Brother Mortal?”

“Who’s this?” Thomas replied, eyeing the username: GreatDreamLikeRain.

“I’m Jessica. What’s your name, Brother Mortal? Are you from the Biology College?” The reply came lightning-fast.

Thomas was anything but calm.

He had been engaged to Jessica for three years, yet she had never once replied to his messages so quickly and with so much respect in it. And now, out of nowhere, she was reaching out to him?

But Thomas knew she wasn’t looking for him—she was chasing “Mortal,” not Thomas.

“I’m from the Biology Department,” Thomas replied, sidestepping her probing while answering her final question.

“Awesome, Brother Mortal! When I start my live stream, will you shower me with gifts like you did for Suzan?” Jessica asked, her voice brimming with anticipation.

Though Veronica was deeply touched by Thomas’s words, a faint worry lingered on her face. “But everyone thinks you’re broke. They’ll assume I gave you the money. Won’t that hurt your reputation? With all these nasty rumors, it’s hard to set the record straight.” “If they call you naive and you don’t own it, just say I hit the lottery. What can they do? Force you to say you gave me the money?” Thomas shrugged. “Besides, I’ve cut ties with the Jaymes family now. The three-year marriage with their daughter didn't work out as planned and the family were cruel to me and treated me like a trash. Why should I care what they think? Why bother with their gossip?” “Well… alright. But what car are you planning to get? How much do you have? I’ve got some savings—I’ll send it to you.” Before Thomas could protest, Veronica grabbed her phone and transferred $100,000 to his account. “Where’d you get that kind of cash?” Thomas asked, stunned. “I… I mentioned I’d help you out,” Veronica said, h

Damn right we run it. Got a problem with that? Keep it to yourself, no one wanna listen to a poor man grumble.” Eagor shot back. “Where’s your boss?” Thomas asked, turning to the front desk. “Sorry, we can only contact the owner for registered members,” the receptionist replied with a polite smile. “Then sign me up for membership,” Thomas said firmly. “Membership?
