A part of me wanted to laugh at the statement when I found it completely ridiculous, however, Grandmother's expression was too profound. Her eyes are sharp without any trace of bluff.

"Anyway, you may now get back to your room," she added. "It's already late. We'll catch up tomorrow." then she left right after Grandfather clapped my shoulders.

Grandmother's motherly piece of advice cut deeper into my conscience. No matter how hard I tried to understand the situation, I still found it too good to be true.

I have no feelings for Jennie. Not a chance. We agreed to be a couple in front of the Lincolns and Stroems, but I am putting a boundary between us. She's my secretary. And I can proceed with my plan with or without her.

While I was lost in thought, the phone next to my head suddenly rang. This time, it was no longer a message notification but a call. When I caught a glimpse of the phone screen, I frowned when the call came from John Dave.
