He made terse grunt as he picked up his sword supporting himself as he stood firmly on the battle ground wobbling as he struggle to hold on firmly to his sword, he stare firmly at the enormous beast that towers over him, its menacing eyes bore trough him like drill, his body quiver as make a firm resolve within himself.

“I am going to end this.” He muttered to himself affirmatively as the mana within him surge wildly, the last bit of Qi he had in him also combined with it, forming an invisible canon ball on his left hand, with his sword also coated with the invisible energy.

“Did you think you can kill me? I am the doom of mankind, the begining of another era for the star beast,”

“with me, ye.all shall perish.” The beast roared, his voice revbrating far into the battle field.

It lunge itself into the air, its am wide apart, its body glowed as its body as it descend on the tiny figure on the ground..”Magic can’t kill me he growled.”

The canon ball in his hand became visible as it grow wider as it shows stripes of red, blue, and white hue, his sword coated in the same way. He shoved the canon ball into the air as he aim for its head.

Magic is a food to me.” He said as he swallows the canon ball while descending.

“But this isn’t magic, it’s your end.” He yelled as he slashed his sword diagonally upward at the air, coughing out blood as he fell on his knees, his weak hand gave in as he couldn’t hold onto the sword for support, he collapsed on the battle ground breathing difficulty.

“what?, if this isn’t magic then what is it?” the beast thought as it face contorted in pain, an explosion occurred as it body came in contact with the sword slash mid air, like an inflated balloon, the beast body inflated before it burst, sending charred flesh flying in the air while it rains blood.

The beatings of drums reverberated through the whole village square, the marching footsteps of the students as they made their way to the stage, arranged in an orderly manner, facing the imperial envoys sent by the empire.

Feets away from the stage, three imperial envoys were seated under a canopy with a table in front of them.

“Let us begin.” One of the envoys said as he turned down the hour, while a very bright light encapsulated the students before they were teleported to the unknown.

Imperial envoy selection; this has been a tradition that has existed for ages in the Zeus empire, it's an event that the emperor organizes once in a year. Envoys are sent to various town in each kingdom to search for geniuses and talent among the less privileged, so they can have a chance to study at the best mages school in the empire, and also the best knight academy in the empire, to help groom and nurture them to their full potential.

The selection has two processes whereby all students of each town would have to go through tough evaluation, and the qualifiers would get admitted to their various academies.

“Hello, ladies and gentlemen, the first stage of the envoy selection is already in progress, let's wish the best of luck for our kids, but remember, they would only reap whatever they sow.” The second envoy said.

On an open field, the students of Brion crouch on their knees as sweat forms on their heads, the gasp for breath before they are teleported back to brion at the village square. Test of the will and mind, the students were been tested for their will and mind but its also an hard test, an illusion magic would be casted on each students as theyre been teleported away, fighting with their minds against any situations theyre faced with in the illusion, while they breaktrough with their minds.

“Roarr!” a beast appeared before a student, in the illusion, it roared as it reached for the students head, he ducked beanth it, rolling to the other side as he slashed the beast's hindlegs with his sword, the illusion shattered as he was teleported back to brion. Several students make their breakthrough as they were teleported back to brion town while others who couldn’t make a breakthrough were also teleported back, but not to their original position before they were teleported.

Back at brion town, the final results was already been announced for the first test, drake, Harry, and Iris were all gleaming with smile, their joy pure and ethereal, so are the other students. Seventy students were announced to have passed the first test, out of hundred plus student in the whole of brion. The seventy were lined up in an according manner on the stage as they awaits the second test.

“The first basis of fighting a beast is courage, while the second is skill. If you have the skill but you don’t have the courage to fight against a beast, then your life is at risk,” One of the envoys said as he stood on his feet. “Am very sure anyone who passes the first test possesses the courage and skill to fight off a beast. He bellowed at the students.

“Let's begin the second to determine the fifty that are getting selected from the seventy students that passed the first test.” Another envoy stood up after the first one finished his speech.

“The second test is mainly going to show how hard each and every one of you have worked hard for the past years, all you'll be required to do is just to place your hand on a dark orb, the brighter it lits up, the higher your point and chance of getting selected.” He said before he sat down.

The students formed a straight line as they line up facing the envoy table, they approached the table one by one as they place their hands on the ord one after the other. After theyve all touched it, their results was announced, fifty students remained on the stage while the others who weren’t among the chosen fifty students were standing by the side of the bridge like the audience.

A dark skinned envoy stood up among the three envoys, he walked away from his seat and approached the fifty students, he walked in between them as he inspect them closely, after inspecting the last row of students, he walked back to the front, he exhale while he stare at them for some moment before he said anything to them.

“I am here to congratulate you on your resilience and i am glad to let you know that you all have been chosen and youll all be escorted to your academy of choice in the next three days, you all should meet up with the imperial guards at the same spot here in the next three days.” The envoy said to the chosen fifty students before he walked away.

“He fidgeted before he place his hand on the communicating orb, the orb lit up projecting a blurry face out of it.”

“Have you found him?” the projected figure inquires as its hoarse voice strikes fear into the person that summons it.

“Please forgive me for my insolence,” the figure pleaded. “We've gone to the very last town in the Zeus empire, but the boy is nowhere to be found.” The figure trembled as he conversed with the image.

“Pathetic.” The image berated in anger. “Let's stay neutral for the meantime.” The image says as the communicator orbs goes off.

The figure exhales as it body calmed down, he lay down on the ground as it takes in the cold night breez.
