After the little inconvenient they had behind the school Caroline and Luck quickly went to the roof of the school so they can hide, the roof was a specialized place where mostly the seniors relax, but in the recent years the school allowed everyone to have access there but they first had to be checked by the guard so the school knew that students didn't smoke up there

"Hey Caroline, I think is a bad idea to stay up here, I mean it's the senior's territory, Floga also stays here with his crew"

Luck warned Caroline, she didn't seem to care that much

"Calm down, worst case scenario we get jumped by all of the thugs of your school, best case scenario they don't even think of searching up here, I don't know about you but I'm taking my chances"

Caroline replied to him, she then decide to sit down so she can relax

"Hey, your name is Luck right?"

she asked

"M-Me yes, you must have heard it from the others right?"

he replied anxiously, that bothered Caroline

"Calm down, the way you act really pisses me off, don't act like I'm superior to you, just relax and sit down"

she said as she patted the ground next to her, she implied at Luck to sit next to her, he hesitated at first but in the end, he sat down

"So have you noticed any changes on this island lately?"

Caroline asked him

"No, nothing in particular, why do you ask?"

Luck replied confused

"Oh nothing don't think about it, It's just that this island feels weird for me"

Caroline told him playfully

He told her while he showed her a picture, in the picture they were 3 people a tall well-dressed man with black hair and red eyes with his blond wife that had yellow eyes in the photo you could also see a small kid with black hair and yellow eyes

she thought when she looked at the photo, Caroline then got up in excitement

"You are the person I was looking for, so after school please take me to your house, I want to announce to you something amazing!"

Luck was surprised by her reaction to Caroline but he was even more surprised by her request

's-she wants what?'

Luck thought but before he could answer the school bell rang

"Seems like you have time to think about it"

Caroline said with a smile, she then left the roof

"What am I going to do with her?"

Luck said

"Hey I don't know what subject we have right now so can you guide me there?"

Caroline said, Luck was then terrified by her sudden entrance

"CAROLINE! don't scare me like that"

Luck told her angrily

she said with a pure expression on her face, the two of them went to the school field, since they had P.E, Luck was weirdly excited about it

"You look excited, do you like P.E that much?"

Caroline asked out of curiosity

"It's not just P.E we usually play my favorite sport, volleyball!"

Luck told her with excitement

"I see, what role do you usually play?"

Caroline asked, she was a little familiar with the sport

"I like to play spiker, since I' have the greatest vertical jump on this school is easier too"

Luck told her proudly

"Well looks like I don't stand a chance so I will play setter"

she said in an attempt to tease him, but Luck wasn't bothered, in fact, it made him even more excited, once they got to the field the class shortly started, the P.E teacher quickly formed some random teams, Luck and Caroline ended up being in the same team, Luck was really happy because they could play together, shortly after the game started, the game went by pretty fast, but both of them were enjoying the game, the time that they were both waiting arrived, Luck was left-wing and Caroline was the setter, when Luck finally received the ball he threw a pass at Caroline

"Make the pass as high as possible!"

Luck told her, Caroline did the best she could, it was perfect for Luck, he then jumped really high and spiked the ball with an incredible amount of force, the ball hit the ground and made a loud sound

'I guess he really does have the highest vertical jump'

once everyone witnessed it they were surprised

"What was that Luck? I didn't know you could spike like that!"

a beautiful short-haired girl told him, she had green eyes and a pitch-black hair, this girl was Luck's crush, he liked her since the 4th grade, she had moved to his class years ago, even though she was a year older she ended up in the same class the reason was that she was a foreigner so she had to learn the language better, her name was Destiny

"Oh, I learned how to spike during my summer break"

Luck replied with a confidence in his voice, that confused Caroline, because every time that Luck spoke before he always stuttered, it felt weird seeing him talk normal

"That was a great pass too, you must be the new girl, right? Caroline was it?"

Destiny asked her

"Yes that's my name, how about yours?"

Caroline asked her

"I'm Destiny, I'm a friend of Luck, you see he doesn't have so many friends because of all the bullying, I constantly tell the others to stop but they don't, I don't know what's wrong with Floga"

the teacher screamed, the students then quickly continued the game, in nobody's surprise Luck's team won the match, after the match the bell rang once again

"Luuuck, when does school end? I'm booored"

Caroline told him with an exhausted voice, she was sitting down on the field, she didn't understand how did school work before coming to the island

"Look Caroline we have 5 subjects left, if you don't want to attend them you can leave the school with the excuse that you have a period or something I don't know"

Luck told her as he was trying to get her to stand up

"Do you think that it would work?"

Caroline asked him with excitement, she couldn't wait to leave this place

"Probably, but you definitely have to ask the principal first before leaving, just say it's really urgent and he will probably leave you off the hook"

Luck said, as soon as she heard it she quickly ran to the principal's office and asked to leave, before she could say the reason the principal allowed her to leave, he didn't care if she even came to school as long as he gets the money he didn't care, when Caroline was told the okay to leave she quickly went back to the field, Luck was waiting for her

"Luck! he told me that I can leave, wanna come?"

she asked him

"I don't have a reason to leave so I think not, maybe next time"

Luck told her, he didn't want to have a bad reputation among his new teachers

"Come on Luck it will be just for this one time and we will never skip school again, I also have something important to tell you"

Caroline begged him but Luck refused, when Caroline realized that she failed to change Luck's mind she decided to use her last resort, she snapped her finger and a mana zone was created

"Hey Caroline where did everyone go? what just happened?"

Luck asked her in panic

"This is the important thing I wanted to chatter with you about, what do you think? wouldn't be better if we talked about it somewhere private?"

Caroline asked him calmly, Luck was scared but he agreed on going to a coffee shop, Caroline then destroyed the mana zone, everything seemed normal again, everyone continued doing whatever they were doing, Luck was surprised by this but he didn't question it since he said he would speak about it in private, when the next school bell rang instead of going to the classroom Luck and Caroline went to a nearby coffee shop, they picked a faraway table and ordered 2 milk teas

"So Caroline, are going to explain what the hell did you do at school?"

Luck asked

"You see I'm not your casual high school girl, I guess you understood that when you saw me beating up those bullies, anyways, I work for the Unofficial Mana Police or UMP, we are a force of people that work as an undercover police for the Parallel world of mana, this world is a dangerous one and since it doesn't have many rule people usually use this world to make money or gain power on the real world, and to put you on the same page the only rule is, whatever happens on this world stays in this world, meaning that we can't expose our power to the real world or we will suffer serious consequences "

Caroline tried to explain to Luck

"Wait I'm confused, why are you telling me about it?"

"My sources told me that you are a hidden gem, basically you have a large amount of mana, you are also very broke and eventually you will live in the streets, so what I'm doing right now is offering you a chance to save your life, my agency is willing to pay you a large amount of cash to help them with their missions, I can tell you more if you assign this paper right now"

he thought as he was writing his name, Caroline looked at him with a smile

she said with a cold voice, Luck felt a chill running up his body, after a little the waitress came with the teas

"Here you go enjoy your stay!"

the waitress told them as she left

"So now that I signed it what happens?"

Luck asked Caroline

"After we finish this we will go to one of our bases and there you will meet a person from out company and you 2 will discuss about the contract, for now, take this and read it carefully"

Caroline told him as she gave him a paper, Luck then started reading it

In the Parallel world, there is a system that allows us to use abilities that we couldn't even imagine, those powers are divided into 3 categories. Offensive, Defensive and Supportive or the ODS system, those 3 categories include 2 types of power the offensive includes the element of destruction and the element of space, the defensive has the elements of time and illusion and finally the Supportive includes the elements of creation and celestial, every single power of the ODS system has it's advantages and disadvantages, a user is birthed with an affinity for a single category but if the user masters one category he can move to a other category of his choice, but this almost never happens since mastering a element is almost impossible, so mastering 2 is double the trouble, it also requires creativity to make your powers shine, because even if you think an element isn't strong it's never the case, the element is weak if the users makes it this way, to use the ODS system you also have to know how to use mana, the main source of power in the parallel world, mana can be used to empower the users body and is also used for casting abilities from the ODS system, the special thing about mana is that with it you can create a mana zone, mana zones can cover a small area and it's generated at random or an user creates it, the random generated mana zones are usually used to become stronger or attend a special event that the parallel world sets up, about the manmade mana zones, those are created by a person and can be used for either hiding from the real world or use it to create a specialized zone to gain the advantage against an enemy, a specialized mana zone are exclusive depending on the person, some people can have similar mana zones but they are mostly different , That's about everything about the parallel world, if you have more questions contact the UMP

"Caroline do I have to memorize all of it?"

Luck asked her depressed

"Don't worry about it, you will eventually learn it from experience"

Caroline answered while dirking her milk tea

"Wait the paper says that everyone has a set category from birth, so how can I discover mine?"

Luck asked curiously

"I thought you would never ask!"

Caroline told him with an anticipated smile on her face, this was the starting step of Luck's adventure in this brand new parallel world
