"Get ready Luck your first fight will start now!"

Caroline told him as she pushed him towards the intruder, Luck didn't feel ready to fight him but he didn't have a choice, this man was robbing his house, he couldn't just let him leave, upon closer inspection Luck realized that he knew the man, the man had recently graduated from high school, it was his ex-senior student

"Hey, Niccolo! why are you doing this? you know that I'm struggling with money, so why did you come to rob me?"

"Shut it, you idiot! Who leaves without locking the door? besides, you can't do anything I'm stronger than you and nobody will believe you if you tell the police? You already know that my mum works as a cop"

Luck didn't say anything, he just raised his guard up

"You truly are unlucky Niccolo, Today isn't really my day so I could use a sandbag"

Caroline was surprised by Luck's change of mood, he seemed scared before but now he looked like he has an intent to kill, before Niccolo could make another move Luck closed the distance and threw a jab at him, it was a perfect jab at Niccolo's chin, Luck then followed with a kick on the side of his chest, Niccolo left a silent scream because of the pain, Luck continued with a combo of hits, the combo started with an upper-cut after that Luck threw 2 jabs right on his face, Niccolo tried to fight back by punching but Luck ducked down and stroke him with a powerful swing, the swing ended up knocking out Niccolo, after the fight ended, Caroline clapped and jumped from the excitement

"Hey Luck! you didn't tell me you were good at fighting, I mean he didn't even lay a finger on you, that's pretty impressive if you ask me!"

"Well I practiced kick-boxing the whole summer, I also worked out so I can build up strength so honestly I'm not surprised that I managed to beat up a skinny guy like him, all he ever did was smoke and drink coffee all summer"

Luck said, they then called the police and after 5 minutes the police came to pick up Niccolo

"I bet his mother will be pissed as hell when she sees her son at the station!"

Caroline said with a smug face, at the time Luck was placing everything back to its place since Niccolo had made a mess

"Do you need help with tidying up the place?"

Caroline asked, Luck nodded in disapproval, Caroline ignored him and started helping after some minutes everything was back to its place, Caroline and Luck took a moment to appreciate the work they had done

"Hey Caroline, do you want me to make you something light to eat?"

"Like a toast?"

"Yeah that's possible, just sit down and watch some TV"

Luck told her as he started to pick up the ingredients for a toast, he took out a toaster from a shelf and started to toast the bread, after 3 minutes Caroline's dinner was ready

"Caroline come to the table so you can eat!"

"Can't I eat on the sofa"

"NO!"

Luck said with passion, he doesn't like when people eat somewhere else than a table, Caroline then sat at the table, as she was eating her cheese-only toast she asked Luck

"What will you eat? I don't see anything else on the table"

"Don't worry about me, I usually don't eat at night"

"If I remember correctly you have some sweets from Palermo, will you not eat them now?"

Caroline asked him, the fact that Luck didn't eat anything at night was strange for Caroline but she didn't bother Luck anymore but before she finished Caroline asked Luck

"Why didn't you put ham inside of the toast?"

Luck didn't answer, he simply opened the fridge door, the fridge was almost empty, it only had some eggs, some slices of cheese and 2 cartons of milk, Caroline gasped

"WHY IS YOUR FRIDGE EMPTY? WHAT DO YOU EVEN EAT?"

"Shut up it's late! I instantly cook the things I buy, and as you can see there is a pot of soup on top of the furnace"

Luck said as he pointed out the furnace, Caroline was still shocked about Luck's living conditions

"After school, we will go on a shopping spree and buy everything you need, and don't care about the budget I will pay for everything, I really can't stand seeing you living like this!"

"But..."

"No buts and I won't let you decline this offer!"

Caroline said, in the end Luck accepted her offer, after Caroline was done eating, Luck cleaned the table and the dishes

"Caroline you can sleep on my bed, I will take this couch"

Luck told her, he then set up the couch so he can sleep, as he was preparing the couch Caroline came out of Luck's room dressed with his clothes

"You wear pretty big clothes Luck but they fit me perfectly"

She said although the clothes were baggy

"H-HEY! take them off!"

Luck said with embarrassment

"Why don't you come to take them off yourself?"

Caroline said, Luck was petrified by embarrassment

"Hahaha, your face is so funny! anyways good night Luck!"

Caroline said as she went back to the room so she could sleep, after a moment Luck came back to his senses, he quickly closed the lights and tried to sleep

'what's wrong with her?'

he thought as he was trying to sleep

The 2 of them slept peacefully through the night, eventually, the morning came, Caroline woke up from her alarm that she had set up on her phone, she came to the kitchen and she saw Luck making breakfast, to no one's surprise he was making 2 toasts, Luck noticed her opening the door

"Rise and shine Caroline, I got to the store earlier and I bought slices of ham for you!"

Caroline didn't understand a single thing Luck said, she simply walked to the bathroom so she can wash her face

'not an early bird I see!'

Luck thought, after Caroline washed her face she properly greeted Luck and sat down to eat, after they finished their food they managed their school bags and exited the house, they were on their way to school

"Hey Luck if you can fight then why do you let those guys at school bully you?"

Caroline asked, she was really curious to know

"I don't want to talk about it"

Luck said, he immediately shut her down, he had his reason and he didn't want to reveal them to Caroline, the 2 of them eventually arrived at school, there was no sign of Floga or his friends around so Luck felt at ease, the 2 of them then entered the classroom and left their things on the desk and went out for a walk around the school

"Hey, Caroline don't you feel a weird pressure in the air? actually... ignore what I just said, it must be my imagination"

'so he can now feel the mana in the air? not bad!'

Caroline thought

"You say the craziest things sometimes, you know that?"

Caroline said to teased him, after some walking around the school they decided to sit on a bench so they can speak

"Hey Caroline you have pretty messed up morning hair let me fix it"

Luck said as he leaned close to Caroline, he then proceeded to fix her hair and he tied it with one of the bracelets he had around his hand

"Whoa! you know how to tie hair? where did you learn how to do it?"

"Well, in the past I had to take care of 2 women, so it's only natural that I learned how"

Luck said as he finished her ponytail

'I wonder how long does it take her to wash all this hair'

Luck thought as he looked at Caroline's hair, even after he tied her hair, her hair was still long, at this time Destiny arrived at school, she spotted Luck and Caroline and walked up to them

"Morning guys!"

"Good morning Destiny! Luck and I decided to sit here until the bell rings, wanna join us?"

Destiny agreed to Caroline's invitation and sat with them, after some minutes of talking the school bell rang so they went to attend the morning prayer, the country of Kesio is a mostly Christian country with a low percentage of atheists, after the prayer ended the students went inside the school, Floga and his friends haven't shown themselves yet, Caroline and Luck sat down on their desk and waited for the teacher

"Hey Luck, remind me what subject we have!"

"If I'm correct we have physics"

Luck said, the principal suddenly entered the classroom, he appeared to have a new watch

"Good morning children, our new physics teacher has just arrived, all of you greet him properly!"

a man entered the room, he seemed very familiar to Luck

"Hey guys, I'm your new teacher, please call me Mr. Gnomon!"

'what the hell is this?'

Luck wondered, after Gnomon entered many comments about his appearance could have been heard from some female students

"Caroline, why is he here?"

Luck whispered

"Didn't Kamira tell you about the mission?"

"Do you mean the one with the cargo ship?"

"Yea that!"

"Well she did but she didn't go into detail"

"Hey! you 2 back there! stop talking the lesson is about to start!"

Gnomon interrupted Luck and Caroline, shortly after the lesson started, after some long and boring minutes the school bell rang everybody stood up and were about to leave

"You 2! come up to my office with me!"

Gnomon said to Caroline and Luck before they could exit the classroom, the 3 of them walked up to the office, nobody spoke up on their way to the office, once they entered the office Luck calmed down

"Hey Gnomon this is Luck, one of our new recruits!"

"Yeah I know, I was the one that escorted him to Palermo"

Caroline was shocked by what Gnomon said

"Wait! did you really came here yourself?"

Luck was confused about her reaction, Caroline noticed that Luck was calm

"Luck don't you know who this guy is? He is the brother of Kamira or you could refer to him as boss junior"

"Please don't call me that! Captain is good enough!"

Gnomon said, he seemed disappointed about Caroline's dumbness

"Anyways, the reason I called you here is to confirm that everything is okay because I heard that was an intruder in Luck's house last night... so is everything alright?"

"Yep totally! Luck beat him up like a boxing superstar!"

Caroline said as she was imitating Luck's punches

"So Luck can fight? that just makes my job easier then, Caroline please bring Destiny here, as for you Luck just have a seat and when Destiny comes here we will have a talk"

Caroline quickly left the room and started to search for Destiny, Luck, on the other hand, started to eat the sweets from Italy, Gnomon was surprised to see them

"Hey where did you get them? they are Kamira's favorites!"

"Oh those? Kamira bought them for me when I met her in Palermo, don't you remember? you sent me to the restaurant she was"

'Kamira didn't tell that she would be the one to guide Luck into the base, just how important is he?'

Gnomon wondered, not even a minute passed and Caroline came back with Destiny

"We arrived, sir!"

"I can see that, now Caroline leave us alone"

"Why do I always have to leave"

she muttered as she left, Destiny then sat on a chair near Luck

"We will have a change of our plan but don't worry it will not affect you too much, Firstly Luck, we learned that both of your parents are absent and you don't have any legal guardian therefore you will go to our base immediately after school, as for your homework leave it to Caroline"

"I doubt that Caroline is smart enough to do my homework, just to inform you, my mother expects perfect marks on all of my subjects so I don't plan to leave my fate to Caroline's hands"

Luck said with a serious expression, Gnomon didn't comment on anything that Luck said, he just continued

"As for you Destiny, you will attend daily lessons about the Celestial element and also do Luck's homework since you have a perfect score on most of your grades"

"Forget it! Destiny will do nothing! I will do my own homework so I demand an hour or more so I can do my homework"

Gnomon wasn't happy about this, Luck's persistence destroyed all of his plans

"You signed a contract Luck remember? the contract said that you will complete any orders from UMP and I know that if you have money you will not need perfect grades"

"You don't know anything about me! nobody does"

Luck replied, Destiny was surprised by Luck's reaction, it was her first time seeing Luck with such a serious look in his eyes, when Luck's eyes met Destiny's he instantly calmed down

"Whatever I will just sacrifice some sleep!"

Luck said, he seemed like he wanted to brush the problem off, after they both accepted their new programs Gnomon dismissed them, they didn't have any time to talk because the bell rang instantly

'wait why did the bell ring that late, I swear I have been inside his office more than 5 minutes'

Luck wondered, the first break is always 5 minutes long and sometimes shorter because in theory is a break for students to go to the bathroom instead of socializing, the next subject was math and all that Luck could think about was those "5 minutes" he spent in Gnomon's office, the rest of the day passed quick for Luck, it was like time passed quicker, the time thing was starting to make Luck crazy before he could leave school Gnomon stopped his exit from the gate with a fancy sports car

"Hop in! I'm taking you to the port!"

"What about my backpack?"

"Give it to Caroline or something, she will go to your house anyways"

Gnomon said, that's what Luck did, he gave his house keys and his backpack to Caroline to take home, she was annoyed but she still took everything with her, once Luck sat properly in the car seat Gnomon quickly drove to the port, Luck didn't noticed it but to avoid people Gnomon created a mana zone, once they arrived at the port they took a plane once again and this time they went straight to the UMP's base, the plane ride amazed Luck once again, once they arrived at the base they quickly entered the base, a woman was waiting for them

"You arrived Captain please allow me to take the young gentleman for training"

The woman said with a sweet voice

"He is all yours just don't forget that when you finish come to report to me"

Gnomon said, he then swiftly left

"Follow me sir"

She said as she began to walk to the training room, once they entered the room Luck was surprised, the room was huge but it didn't seem like a training room, the room had some colorful sofas and a big TV, the whole place seemed more like a relaxing room rather than a training room

"Now kid before we start I have to tell you that your training will be hard so bear with me!"

Said the woman, her words made Luck anxious the only thing that he could think of was how hard the training would be
