It took 1 hour and 5 minutes to arrive at Alicante Airport, and this was even worse. Clayton was like a fish out of water. Looking around, he felt like disappearing from here to Newington.
Sadly, there was no going back now. He was already in Spain…for safety, he thought, trying to reassure himself. With his luggage beside him, he stood, glancing at people moving to and fro. He observed how the majority of people spoke Spanish.
He exhaled.
**
About an hour…
Passengers' luggage had already been kept. The passengers got on the aircraft one after another, heading to diverse seats. Clayton was about to get on the aircraft when he turned and felt like his heart just leaped to his forehead, slamming violently. He stiffened, feeling numb as chills swept inside of him. Tension began to soar inside him.
W…was that her for real? Was that her?! He panicked almost in tears.
He couldn't believe his eyes. The shock was overwhelming, he could hardly breathe…
"Oye, ¿tú qué miras?" An aged lady yelled from behind.
He didn't realize he was blocking the people behind him. He was so lost.
"Con permiso!" Another person let out.
Clayton's wide blazing blue gaze was fixed on her. There she was, amidst the passengers behind. He could see profuse blood sliding down her empty eye sockets while gritting her black teeth, and her massive black hair was like a mane around her small pale face.
Sh*t! Does she wanna come in as well?!
"¡Estás bloqueando mi camino!" Someone tapped him…
Instantly, he blinked as he regained consciousness, and he realized.
"Oops! I'm so sorry!" He said, adjusting for the people to pass, then he turned again but she had vanished.
It's not real. It's just an imagination.
He kept telling himself while shuffling to his seat, fixing his speculating glinting blue gaze on each person. To his greatest astonishment, he saw the girl whom he had mistook for that ghastly demon a few days ago at Newington. She was sitting close to the window, swatting her phone. The seat beside her was vacant.
Wait. What?! What the hell was she…"Hey!" He said, looking down at her.
Amazement glinted in her green eyes when she raised her head. "¡Tú otra vez! ¿Qué haces aquí?"
From his raised eyebrows, and puzzled gaze to the way he shrugged innocently she could tell he didn't comprehend Spanish. "My bad." She smiled slightly.
"Was someone sitting here?" He asked.
"Nah," She said, peering into her phone screen.
He sat, blew out, and glanced at her briefly. For some reason, he felt weird about her. She looked kinda shady or something…
Coincidentally, she turned to him as well. "What are you doing here?!" They chorused and burst out laughing.
Laughter still gleaming in his eyes, he said, "I mean, seriously, what are you doing here? Seeing you here surprised me."
"Wanna get together with some crew." She said and lifted her eyes
"What about you?"
For the life of him, those green eyes of hers were igniting terror in him. Not that he knew her, but from the first day he saw her in Nelly's Lodge Newington he became more insecure. She was a stranger. A mysterious stranger. It's time he began to wonder if Paige was a twin.
Clayton blinked, composing himself so that he could answer her question.
That was the question he had wanted to ask himself before now. Why was he here?!
***
The fact that she was also going to stay in San Lucia was even creepier, he thought, feeling the pressure of his heart banging gingerly against his chest as they arrived at their destination. Staring at her from behind, he could swear she was up to something…probably spying on him.
He started breathing unsteadily.
***
The short drive from a lovely sandy beach to San Lucia was epic. Sitting in the front seat of a taxi, Clayton couldn't help but admire in awe the grand magnificence of the environment. How calm the breeze was blowing and how leaves from towering trees were rustling here and there. He watched how boys played around the beach, people sitting on their umbrella shades, while others were swimming. Broken waves wobbled over the coastline.
They drove past a golf course, watersports, various splendid courts, and a fish pond.
He turned to look at the girl who wasn't looking as fascinated as he was. "Seems like you've been here before."
"A couple of times tho." She said, looking up. "But I swear this place never dims. The more frequently you come, the more sophisticated it looks. Is this your first visit to San Lucia?"
"Yep." He shrugged.
"I see."
Within 30 minutes they got to extensive beautifully landscaped grounds where imposing iron gates were, then they followed the winding driveway through glorious gardens. On either side of the garden were manicured lawns, lush palm trees, distinctive statues, and exquisite stone fountains.
Now, here they were, beholding the charming villa– San Lucia. Clayton got out of the car, lifted his glistening blue eyes, and observed the features of the villa.
Rich ochre walls and cobalt-blue roof tiles shimmered in the sunshine surrounding the landscape against the Mediterranean sky. An elegant stained glass dome crowned the central tower, providing an eye-catching ceiling feature above the sweeping wrought iron staircase inside.
Oh my!
With the girl behind him, they walked past the shaded Terrace overlooking the pool.
"Bienvenido a San Lucia." A tall gorgeous woman stood before them, smiling elegantly at Clayton.
"El no," The girl answered for him when he tossed a puzzled look at her. " Entiende español."
"Oh, my bad." The lady swapped to English. "Are you an American?"
"British," He smiled, feeling pleased with the lady's courtesy. "Although I've also lived in America… Georgia."
"What about you, pretty?" The lady asked.
"I'm an American," She replied.
What!
Clayton glanced at her.
"North Carolina." She concluded.
No way!!!
Clayton's heart sank. 'Don't tell me you're from Raleigh', he prayed inwardly, feeling desperate to hear her say she was from Raleigh…
"I'm a Russian tho," The lady said. "I learned Spanish in Middle school." She smiled. "I'm Sasha, and you're?
" Clayton Milton." He said, glancing at the girl.
"Poldi Elmer."
Poldi… what?!! "Did you say, Elmer?" He tried to hide the uneasiness looming inside him.
"Did I stutter?" She said sarcastically.
"Alright, Poldi and Clayton." The lady smiled. " Welcome to San Lucia! Let me show you around."
Poldi was rolling her box behind Clayton, while he was carrying his suitcases and briefcase, walking amid other people as the lady led the way. He was in the middle.
Lost in thought, he wasn't hearing the music anymore.
Poldi looked exactly like Paige. Poldi Elmer…Paige Elmer. Christ! Was this happening for real or a coincidence? The only differences were their hair color and voices. Paige's hair was black while Poldi was blond and her voice was sharper than Paige's. They both had glinting green eyes.
Turning back to confirm his thought, she was engrossed with her phone. But she instantly lifted her gaze and he turned away… only to find…
Holy shit!!
The lady was now…that ghastly demon? The figure in front of him was black, faint, and transparent such that he saw through it. Her legs were floating in the air…and everyone else was gone.
Clayton rubbed his eyes with his palm.
He turned back and found Poldi glaring at him. Her arms were stretched downward and she had a small glistening knife in her right hand. Her face was slightly downward, and thick black blood welled up her eyes, sliding down her cheeks. She was bleeding from her left nostril and the left side of her mouth. She gritted her teeth.
As the blood dropped on the floor, the lights began to flicker, and both his briefcase and suitcase fell off his trembling hands in the dark villa.

Thunder rumbling, lightning was stripping across the gloomy and cloudy sky in a zig-zag form as it began to shower. Leaves were rustling as the whistling wind was blasting. Another boom of thunderbolt shook Lunasha's room such that her eyes shot open, beholding the terror of the dark. Cold swept up her body as she listened to the whistles of the wind while the transparent light curtain at the window wobbled, scarcely allowing the brightness of lightning to flicker across her room. Initially, she didn't know where her gaze was fixed as it was dark. But when the lightning blazed across the room again she was sure she saw a figure standing by the room door. And…wait, the door was widely open. What! A ripple of fear crept into her trembling body as her heartbeat accelerated to a brutal whack against her chest. Her body stiffened and she swallowed hard. Slipping her hand under her pillow where she had kept a torch, she couldn't find it. Petrified, she slid her trembling hands in circle
Although Lunasha was curled up in the strange lady's warm arms…if she wasn't mistaken, she couldn't help her uncertainty. She was still hurt. Her head was aching drastically due to how hard the lady had wrapped her hair earlier. She was still feeling stinging pain in her left upper arm. She didn't dare to hug the lady back. She was trembling in the lady's arms. Stroking the kid's back, she looked down at her, kissed her forehead, and said, "You're trembling, honey. Are you catching a cold?" Lunasha could swear, the lady sounded like momma. "I…saw a stranger in the house. I saw her shadow." For a while, the lady was quiet, then she said, "A shadow? That was me…coming." "She hurt me," Lunasha sobbed. "She dragged my hair, licked my face, and hurt my arm." "Oh, let me see, darling." Lunasha stretched her trembling arms and the lady held her wrist gently, flashing the torchlight on it. She was apprehensive and curious, she couldn't take her eyes off the lady. Although the lady saw
The girls trembled, gasped, and screamed in terror, astonished by what they saw. Simone was lying lifeless on the toilet floor with blood streaming out of her nostrils and mouth. Her eyes were gone and her left cheek was deeply injured and bleeding profusely. Sobbing, the girls covered their lips with their palms, feeling dumbfounded. Lexie squatted so that she took a good look at her. " Oh, Simone. W…what happened?!. Oh, my f*ckin' god!" "Lexie," Leanna's voice was quivering. "We need to get help. We need to call someone…" "This is unbelievable, Leanna. We are the only people here. What are we gonna say? That she was murdered when she entered the loo? Who would believe that bullsh*t, Leanna, who?" Lexie wiped her tears with her fingers. "Oh god! Oh god! What should we f*ckin' do?" Leanna was trembling terribly. "We need to get the f*ck outta here before someone finds us…" "What?!" Leanna exclaimed. Lexie was already standing. "We can't leave Simone here…" "Leanna," Lexie gr
In a couple of days, Lexie was apprehended the night she bumped into a sergeant in a supermarket. After the sergeants had asked her a few questions, she was led to an isolated detaining room so that they would carry out an intense interview the following day and deliberate on their judgment. They would also take her to the hospital where Leanna was admitted so that both girls would be properly interviewed. From the time Lexie bumped into that sergeant till now, she seemed to have been counting the number of beats her heart had skipped. Things were just at a fast pace and she felt like she was dreaming because she didn't expect to be arrested so soon and suddenly. The worst was how people were casting nasty glares at her like they were saying, “ What the heck is this murderer doing here!" And to her greatest amazement, the sergeant suddenly got in and confronted her. Damn! She'd never been so embarrassed her whole life. And that was a blow to her parents' reputations. Her heart was
"Murder spree! You've got no time, kid. Let's get to work!"With her gaze fixed on the knife in her hand, Lexie was trembling terribly while standing outside the huge building. Once she lifted her watery gaze and blinked tears rapidly rolled down her cheeks, then she wiped them off aggressively. The lady in black smirked as Lexie walked off.***Standing in front of another large building, and breathing heavily, Lexie's clasp on the bloodstained knife tightened. Slowly, she raised her head, gnashing her teeth. Her watery glare was fixed on one of the building's numerous windows."Mom, who's that?" Mia asked, standing and gazing down the window.Isla came over and looked down the window but found no one. "Mia…""Mom," The teen girl said, still gazing down the window. "I swear…I saw someone shady gazing up the window—she was holding something like a knife, I guess.""Mia stop," Isla said. She was trying to pack her hair up for the night. "Go to bed, please."Mia shrugged. "Good night,
"Aghh!" A woman in a white gown clamored as soon as she entered Leanna's room in the hospital the following morning. She screamed and scurried out without casting a second glance at Leanna's gory body. At the drop of a hat, other nurses rushed in and their lips dropped as they gasped in shock with wide eyes. None of them dared to go any further to Leanna as the whole place was bloodstained. *** "Sir! She's gone!" Chase, a young sergeant said to his superior. From across the high table, Mr. Halls cast a stern glance at him but said nothing. "Sir, I dunno how…" Chase continued hesitantly. "But…the cell is locked, just as I left it last night." Mr. Hall's eyes trailed from Chase's head to his thigh. He couldn't glance down at his feet as his papers-infested table covered them. Yet he didn't say a word. Soon, the handheld transceiver on the table began to make static sounds, and they both listened to the shocking report of Leanna's gory corpse. *** The padlock clanked severally
Lexie scurried to Yvonne's room where her sisters' corpses were and went under the bed. She was trying her hardest to control her heavy breathing and was afraid whoever was at the door might find her. Eventually, she heard the distant sound of an eruption, plus something crashing, and she knew they'd broken into the house. With this, she began to tremble. The random sound of footsteps and different voices chattering told her that a group of people had just broken in."...sure this is her home?" A deep voice asked from the hallway."Yes, sir!" Another man answered distantly."The place is damned bloody! Jeez!"Lexie was alert, attentively listening to their conversations and the noises from their search for her. Now, they were walking up the stairs."That girl is a f*cking killer." The deep voice said."Can't believe she disappeared from the cell.""Mysterious, man."A few seconds later…"Oh my God! Oh, my f*cking god!!" Someone exclaimed and she knew they must have seen Mom and Dad's
As soon as the sergeants entered the station everyone's lips dropped in astonishment as they were all bleeding from different parts of their body. Doctor Jake and the two ladies gazed curiously at them as they walked past.***As the door creaked open, Mr. Halls glanced expectantly as each of them walked into his office, and his brows furrowed in a deep frown when the last man shut the door. "Where's she?!" He inquired sternly. The men glanced briefly at themselves. Their superior didn't care about their injuries, or how messed up they were."Chase?!!""Sir!" Chase was dumbfounded. Everything seemed like a dream to him."You lost her again?! Chase?!" The man said and blew out. "I still don't understand what happened last night." Mr. Halls said, casting a grave speculating look at him. "What are you up to, Chase?!"As Chase lowered his gaze, blood dripped from his right eye to the floor randomly and he tried to wipe it off with his palm."Aren't you ashamed that one teenage girl beat f
