Chapter 12. None Can Tell.

Although Lunasha was curled up in the strange lady's warm arms…if she wasn't mistaken, she couldn't help her uncertainty. She was still hurt. Her head was aching drastically due to how hard the lady had wrapped her hair earlier. She was still feeling stinging pain in her left upper arm.

She didn't dare to hug the lady back. She was trembling in the lady's arms.

Stroking the kid's back, she looked down at her, kissed her forehead, and said, "You're trembling, honey. Are you catching a cold?"

Lunasha could swear, the lady sounded like momma. "I…saw a stranger in the house. I saw her shadow."

For a while, the lady was quiet, then she said, "A shadow? That was me…coming."

"She hurt me," Lunasha sobbed. "She dragged my hair, licked my face, and hurt my arm."

"Oh, let me see, darling."

Lunasha stretched her trembling arms and the lady held her wrist gently, flashing the torchlight on it. She was apprehensive and curious, she couldn't take her eyes off the lady.

Although the lady saw no injury, she said, "I'm sorry, honey. You had a nightmare, I guess."

Lunasha was about to speak, but…

"Shhh," The lady hushed, urging Lunasha to be quiet. "It's okay, darling. I understand." She pulled the kid close gently. " Whatever you saw wasn't real, okay? Whoever that shadow was, it was just an imagination, okay? I noticed how you flinched when I came into the room, that was horrible. Mom would never hurt you, okay? I love you."

Soothed by Mom, Lunasha buried her face in her mom's cardigan, resting her head on Mom's b**bs, hugging her.

"But, did you go to the kitchen when I was in my room?" Lucinda asked.

"No, Mom."

"Alright, darling," Lucinda said. "Let me take you to bed. You need to sleep so that you prepare for school early." Lucinda lifted her thirteen-year-old daughter into her arms.

She laid her on the bed and covered her with a blanket. After kissing her forehead and bidding her goodnight, Lucinda wanted to walk away when her daughter pulled her hand nervously.

"Mom, would she come back?"

Lucinda took her Cross necklace off her neck and slid it down Lunasha's neck. "She would not dare. You're light, and she's darkness." She smiled, planted a kiss on her forehead, and walked to the door. "Sweet dreams, darling"

"Good night, Mom."

It was still drizzling outside. Her mom had kept the torch on for her, so the room wasn't dark. Fumbling with the Cross pendant, Lunasha was staring at the ceiling.

Shortly, whispers boomed in the room again, and the torchlight began to flicker.

Terrified, Lunasha quickly covered her face with the huge blanket.

Clayton had not left his room for a couple of days, and neither was he famished. His stays in his room had been melancholic and he'd been perplexed. What happened a few nights ago had been floating in his head. And for the life of him, he couldn't remember what had happened next…nor how he got to this room.

Sitting on the huge soft undressed bed, holding up the bedsheet and resting his chin, he took a deep breath. Terror was still gleaming in his glassy blue eyes.

That f*ckin' b*tch, Poldi Elmer. What's with her? Who the heck was she? The day he saw her approaching him at Nelly's Lodge in London, that same nightmare took place. Now, here she is again in Spain. Same airport…aircraft…villa?! God knows he'd f*ckin' kill that motherf*cker if she was spying on him and trying to make his life miserable.

He heaved a long sigh of distress.

God f*ckin' dammit!

Shortly, he sighed again.

What if it was just a coincidence? He thought. What if he'd just been too scared to think straight? Ever since that night, he had no other nightmares.

No! No! No! Dammit! To hell with those bullsh*ts. Coincidence be damned!

Her name was Poldi Elmer for crying out f*ckin' loud!

He got out of bed to pick up his briefcase from a small beautiful crystal table across the room. He got back to bed, sat, and opened it, revealing the steel guns and other glinting weapons in it.

***

Lifting one of her long-lined arch-shape brows, Poldi Elmer was combing her rich long blonde hair, fixing her sparkling green gaze on the mirror, close to the window. Her pretty round face was featured with massive long lashes, a small nose, and thin pink lips. She had gold earrings pierced all over her ears, and one between her nostrils.

Her slim body was in a pink body hug long-sleeve blouse on grey baggy pants. She had two small guns fixed in either side of her pockets.

Paige's Club was rocky, filled with abundant customers dancing, getting a kick out of the hip-hop song booming from the home theatres that were mounted on the wall of the dance floor. An enormous sparkling ball was swinging over their heads, inflicting its colorful dim lights on everyone. No one's face was seen because of the dim flickering illumination.

The majority of people were already wasted, popping up booze and champagne. The place was a real blast.

Giggling, and chattering, Lexie, Leanna, and Simone, got into the passage leading to the restroom. They were in bras and panties. They strode a few distances to the loo.

"Ew," Leanna said. "Do you have to bring booze to the toilet?!"

"Who cares," Simone giggled and sipped the drink in the rock glass. "All lil' b*tches know is that we gonna f*ck a*s tonight."

"This party is epic!" Leanna said. "I'm wasted already, I won't have another drink tonight."

"That's a no-brainer to say, Leanna." Simone scoffed. "Trust me"

"But," Lexie said, grabbing the door knob. "That guy with spiky hair sucks a*s, full time…"

"Like you ain't ready to pee," Simone said. "I'm damned pressed."

Simone handed over the rock glass to Lexie, reached for the doorknob, and got into the loo.

Shortly, she let out a terrific cry from the toilet, banging on the door.

This startled the other girls, they were confused. For a second they thought Simone was kidding.

"Simone? What's happening??!

" Stop, you're scaring the life out of us…" Leanna asserted.

Once Simone was banging violently on the door, screaming along, they understood this was no joke. Lexie quickly dropped the rock glass on the lustrous tiled floor.

"Hey, hey…Simone!"

"What's f*ckin' going on in there?!"

Both girls were struggling with the doorknob but it won't open

"Simone, calm your a*s down!"Lexie yelled out of pressure and confusion.

The girls were panicking.

" Open the door! Open the door! Please…"Simone's scream was deafening and trembling as though she had excruciating pain soaring in her.

"We're trying, b*tch," Leanne shouted, still struggling with the knob. "You've f*ckin' locked yourself in there. Man! I can't. My fingers hurt already."

Panting, Lexie said, " I dunno whatever is going on in there. Try unlocking the door from the inside." She lowered her gaze at her swollen hurt fingers. " Damn! That knob is f*ckin' hard, I swear."

A few seconds later, Simone's scream faded into a slurry tone, then the passage became quiet. Even the music wasn't heard anymore. The girls glanced expectantly at each other.

"Alright, Simone,” Leanna called, poking her twirly pink hair. "Come out here…stop being a jerk."

Simone didn't respond.

"You're a real ba…"

Snapping, the door suddenly opened, and…

Oh…my…God!

"What the fuck!" Lexie let out, both girls gasped in shock at what they'd just seen.
