Chapter 13. Reasons.

It was told to the general of Ceevah, Monroe Howard. It was told to him that the young man from Gytle who they have been looking for in their city was in Mayca all this while. And Monroe was also told that Byron and his trusted men are after him. But they still have been unable to get him.

The source of this message was still ignorant of Gabriel's real identity as the son of Ronald. He only knew that Byron could desperately be after him because he was of a high value.

Now that this vital message about Gabriel had gone beyond Mayca, his life was now at a very high risk because the information would definitely reach Cyb and Gilroy in due time.

Governor Monroe Howard, as they called him pending the time when he would win over the other cities and ascend the throne of Tadeas. Monroe had to call for some of his men, who were trained spies to survey the land of Mayca.

He sent in a good number of his men to patrol the city of Mayca. He had nothing to lose, because his city was termed the greatest amongst the four cities of Tadeas. But even in their greatness and power, they were still not able to overpower the other cities. Meaning that it was not as great as it was termed.

Gabriel, still in the city of Mayca, after escaping Kevin and Gross. He decided to visit his friends Mueller and Abby for answers to the question which kept on ringing in his mind after leaving the place of Byron.

When he came back to the house, Abby was very happy to see him. Even though they wanted him safe by asking him to return home. They still loved him as one of them.

She hugged him and kissed him as he was invited into the house. Then she went and called her grandfather to come see Gabriel.

After a very warm and pleasant welcome with lots of joy in their hearts. Mueller then asked him about his people in Gytle.

"How have you been? How is Gytle?"

But Gabriel never returned to Gytle, so there was not way he could answer that question correctly. Maybe he could just lie and tell them that Gytle was fine. But he did not want to lie to Mueller again. Also, he had come to get a few information again, and telling a lie about Gytle and his journey will have a very big chance of ruining him from getting the information he need.

"I did not return to Gytle. I never left Mayca."

Mueller and Abby were surprised to hear this. All the thoughts were that he took their advice and returned to the town of his birth, the town of his mother. They were quiet for some seconds, as they could not express their surprise any better than just staring at him.

Gabriel noted the amazement that was clear on their faces, so he took it upon himself to explain to them the reason why he did not go back to Gytle.

"I know this is surprising to you, but I could not leave Tadeas. The soldiers from all cities in Tadeas are ever after me and they will surely follow me wherever I go. So I don't see any need to run far away from them because they will still come after me. To be honest here, I do not want the incident that happened when my father was killed to repeat itself in Gytle."

"What happened?" Abby asked instantly. She was desperate and earnest to know what happened when his father was killed. Mueller also had interest in knowing what happened.

So Gabriel told them.

"When my father was attacked in Gytle, all who lived around us and we're present also lost their lives. The soldiers that attacked killed every soul in the area and houses were burnt down so I do not want that to happen again in Gytle. It is better I stay here in their midst as a wanderer instead of putting the lives of innocent people in danger."

"So where have you been laying your head?"

"I can't tell that to you. I am very sorry."

"It's okay, I understand." Mueller said.

Then there was a brief silence in the house. Abby was kind of lost in the conversation, she was the one who asked the question and now her grandfather was saying he understood why Gabriel could not tell them of his dwelling. This really proved that her brain was the youngest. Some of the things that happened were not clearly understood by her. She was also surprised as to how Gabriel was able to understand her grandfather. He was interacting with him like someone of an older age. And she soon guessed and concluded it to be because he had been exposed to many things in life.

Since she lost her mother and father, Mueller had been overprotective to her. He did not want anything to happen to her as she was all he had left until Gabriel came into their lives.

"So tell us, what have you been doing since you left?" Mueller finally broke the silence.

Now was the time Gabriel had to put forward his major reason for coming there. "Nothing much other than seeing the beauty of nature and this city."

"And how did it turn out to be through your survey?"

"A little bit good and ugly."

"I am meant to believe that the ugliness which you are talking about is concerning the aspect of lack of peace?"

Gabriel did not go into answering that, instead he ceased the moment to tell them of his latest experience. "I was caught by the soldiers and brought before Byron."

"What…!"

"Riggs should be his name. He made me look like a thief in order to catch me and he was successful."

"How did you escape?" Abby was now very curious. She could not believe that Gabriel was able to escape them.

"That question brings me to the main reason why I came here today." Gabriel confessed.

"What do you mean?"

"When I was brought before Byron, they all pretended to be good people by paying homage to me as their king. It was obvious that they wanted me dead when they were chasing me. But after catching me, it seemed as if their purpose changed. The thing that shocked me the most was how they knew my identity. It was obvious that they had been chasing me with the purpose of finding out why a Gytlean was in their lands."

From that explanation of Gabriel, Mueller and Abby knew what he was thinking. They were the only ones who knew that he was the son of Ronald and the heir to the throne. So if another person was made to know of this information about him, then they must have been the source. Mueller and his granddaughter were now feeling very guilty for hiding their deeds from him. But they did not know how to tell him that they were the ones who sold his secret to Byron and his men which had caused them to start finding him. Thus they were silent and could not say a word, while they waited and watched if he was going to change his question or still emphasize on them, seeking answers.
