The journey continued day after day and there was not a day that passed without an occurrence of something challenging. Gabriel and the people with him soon began to run out of stock. The food items which they had carried were to finish in the next couple of days. The forest was so endangered to them that they feared everything that looked like food or fruit. So none of the fruit of the trees were eaten. Imagine being in the middle of a garden and from time to time, the trees in your front will move to the back. Only the fears will cause you to avoid the trees to the point of not wanting to touch it.

With their stuff running out, the four of them began to give up. It was two months since the commencement of the adventure, yet there was no atom of success. Everything seemed to be a failure. They have been moving in circles day after day, and it now made them lose hope entirely. No one wanted to continue the journey, they smelled their death to be very close at this point.

"Did any of you also notice that the woods have not changed since then?" Kennedy also pointed out.Their eyes were opened and fear gripped them, for the next few minutes, they were only observing the whole area to see if there was any change but from all their investigation, nothing. The trees had remained still, not a single tree changed its spot."Are you thinking what I am thinking?" Kevin asked. But it seemed they were not thinking anything at all, they were just marveled by what they saw and nothing else. They chorused in unison."What?""I think the trees can not move because one has fallen and if you notice, the tree is growing back at a very fast pace. I think if it's fully grown, the forest will begin to move again.""What exactly are you insisting on?" Gabriel asked as they did not get why he was saying what he was saying."Where are the maps? Who is with it?" Kevin asked instead of answering the question that Gabriel had asked.Gross, who had the maps with him, brought it o

Enoch, Riggs, Frost and Maxwell, who were at the other end of the forest, still patrolling in the woods were so shocked that the forest had stayed over ten hours without a single change. They were in fear because of this single act. All they knew was that the next shift would be very deadly and might not stop for a long time too just as the stand still moment had lasted. And they were not with any map to follow, so all they could do was to continue what they had been doing which was to move about without destination. But at least during this period, they learnt to follow a single track. While they wandered around, a very hot breeze blew from the right. It was obvious to them that it was coming from the forest."Did you feel that?" They asked themselves."Yes and there is something I am thinking about?" Maxwell said."Let's go that way, that breeze did not come from the forest." Riggs said."Which means that is our way out?" "Exactly what I am thinking," Enoch concurred with Maxwell.

As the hut sun began to go down, the trees stopped falling, and now it came to their hearts and awareness that all trees were still standing. The whole trees which they had seen fall were standing, and it baffled them what kind of thing it was that had happened. They were all looking at each other not knowing what to say."What do you think?" Enoch asked Frost."I don't have anything in mind. What about you?""We should go back and find Riggs.""What! What are you thinking? You just escaped death and you are wanting to go back?""Of course. What choice do we have," Enoch stood up, "Look around. What else do you see other than this dry desert. I'm sure we would not even survive a mile out here."Maxwell was still sitting on the ground but he looked around as Enoch spoke."We will still die after all, so it's pointless. I'm going back to find Riggs.""But what about Gabriel and the others? What about the plan of waiting for them?""The plan has changed. Besides, when did you last see th

  • Paths to destiny.   Chapter 75. What again....

Now Gabriel, who happened to be the person that did not believe Kevin at first when he brought up the idea of falling down trees, was now the one that had the highest momentum in the cutting down of the trees. At this point, the forest was angry that Riggs, Enoch, Frost and Maxwell had successfully left the forest because of this act of Kevin and his group. So now, it was faster to grow the trees again. If it took the fallen trees five hours to grow an inch, now it used two hours to grow two inches. Thereby, making them very occupied and unable to move. But this did not make them grow faint. They have seen that the plan was working very well so it was something they should not give up on.After every two hours of movement, they would stop, and cut a few more trees before continuing. This, they did for complete two days nonstop; day and night, they moved on with this heavy work. It got to a point whereby it seemed as if the trees were getting stronger, and would not want to fall."Kev

Frost did not know how to answer that question directly, he just looked at the Enoch and Maxwell to see if they were thinking anything too about the movement of the trees after some days. But it appeared from the eyes which they looked at him with that they had nothing to say about the moving trees so they needed an answer from him."I think they are still in there and almost at the edge. Remember, when we came to the edge of the forest, the trees began to fall but after we came out, it was realized that no tree had fallen. I think it's the same thing that is happening." "No Frost, it's not. It is in the nature of that forest to observe some changes as it is observing now. But it is not in its nature to fall like it did when we were coming out.""Yes Frost, Riggs is right. Maybe the period whereby the forest refused to change was a period of its break. So it is obvious that the break is over." Enoch said. But Maxwell had to support Frost this time even if he was the only one saying t

As Kennedy came out, he looked around and was shocked to see that they were no longer in the middle of woods. He did not believe what he saw so he did not even waste a minute out there before he ran back into the tent. He did not know what he was feeling at this point."You need to see this...." The way he said that, full of shock was something that made the others curious but unwilling to go out until he had told what exathe saw outside which they must see. "What is it?""Is there a monster out there?"Gabriel and Gross asked respectively almost at the same time. Kevin was not too concerned about what was out there because he had not agreed from the beginning about leaving the tent. Yet he was also curious to know what was outside because of how Kennedy pant as he said that."We are out.... we are outside the forest....""That is a lie..." Kevin immediately disagreed as he left the tent without hesitation. The other followed him immediately, and the four of them were now sending ou

After the sharing of their experience to one another, Enoch and those who were with him came to realize that they had escaped the forest because of the activities of Gabriel and his crew. But in all they were happy they had all survived the forest which seemed as though they would never come out of. Kevin was expecting Riggs, Maxwell, Frost or Enoch to spot out that someone was missing, but none of them asked, nor did they mention that they had seen his corpse in the tent where it was left. He then had to tell them and stop waiting for them to ask. "We lost Noris."That was when Riggs said, "We already came across his dead body while we were still in the forest. It is obvious we know how he died."The response from Riggs explained to them why they did not ask about Noris. And now they all in one accord observed a minute silence for him.The night had come so they could not continue the journey that day again, so they laid in their tents till the morning. When it was morning, the tent

When the signing and positioning of the generals were done, four eldest men of Tadeas, one from each city each stood out to make the announcement of who the new king will be, for it was a tradition in Tadeas that the eldest men from each city will come together to put the crown on the head of every new king, and they will pray him before and after doing this, asking that the gods will grant them the wisdom to lead the country in the right and appropriate way that will be pleasing to the whole nation. So the elders held their hands together as they prayed for the crown and the throne, asking that it would not control the king but rather the king should control it. Afterwards, they called forth Dylan Ryan, who the whole people had gathered to watch him being crowned. While he walked up to meet these men, he looked at Gabriel and was surprised that he hadn't brought out the scepter yet, so his mind was beginning to calm down, as he inhaled and exhaled rapidly while climbing up to the thr

    Chapter 195. Coronation day.

In the city of Mayca, at the house of Byron Haas, the message which Sebastian had sent by means of his raven bird got to the soldiers at the gate, and they took it out from the bird, letting it fly back to its city. They knew that every message that came to them by that means and pattern was for lord Byron Haas so they did not bother checking it to confirm who it was for before sending it to Byron, who was still making arrangements for the next day's event. "My lord, there is a message for you." The guard said as he came before Byron. Then she turned and looked at the soldier before asking, "Who is it from?""Lord Sebastian of Gilroy."Then he took the note from his hand to read its contents only to see the inscription that it was not for him, rather it was for Gabriel. So he said to the soldier that had brought. "Take this to Gabriel, he is the one it's for and not me." Then he took it as he confirmed whether it was for Gabriel, before apologizing. Chapter 194. Sensing failure.

In the city of Cyb, as the day for the coronation of Dylan Ryan drew closer than ever, that was the same his curiosity and anxiety grew the most. He was not as happy as he ought to be because he was still unable to figure out the plan which Byron and Gabriel had. Even though he had made sure his army was strong enough to defend him in case of violence, he still feared that there would not be any march for the plan that Byron had made. His greatest anger was that he had no power backing him up this time and even with the warning of the spirit of the witch, he still did not want to as she had told him. He was bent on winning by all means, but he could already sense failure in the plan he had made.Sensing failure was not still enough to tell him to give up the throne, a greater part of him was telling him that there was no plot against him being crowned king over Tadeas, because his spies had not brought any word telling him such, it was still a presumption in his heart there was a plan

    Chapter 193. Regrets.

Byron had to speak again, "For the last time, we don't have any plan of which we need your help for it to succeed. In short, there is no plan at all to stop the coronation. Since you and Monroe Howard have refused to come to the realization that Gabriel is the only king Tadeas should have at this point, then he would not fight for any throne. On the day of the coronation, as the country will match to watch Dylan Ryan ascend the throne, that is the same way Gabriel and I along with my men will match to witness the king who you have refused to oppose ascend the throne.""But I am telling you right here that I confess Gabriel as my king and I'm ready to do anything to make sure he ascends the throne in his father's stead."Then Gabriel chose to test him since he had made so much pleading and claims that he is now a new person. "To prove to me that you are not the same as you used to be, you will have to take me to the place where you buried my father. I am quite aware that it was you and

So Byron had to come in without allowing him to go further. "Yes, that reminds me, did you tell Monroe about it? And what was his response?""No, I did not tell him about this because he does not know anything about this, so I did not see the need to disturb him with it because he would not understand a signal word that will come from my mouth.""That means you literally have not done anything about what you know that will lead this country to its doom?""Yes. I did not do anything because there is nothing I can single handedly do. I asked for your help yet you did not consent to it. Meaning that you do not want to do anything about it so I also have to forget about doing anything concerning it. So that we will both watch the country be destroyed because that is what you want by not wanting to help me in confronting Dylan to forfeit his interest."Sebastian was really doing a great job at this point to convince Byron into believing that he was a changed person who would want to see Ga

Byron could see that Sebastian had a point in the two things that he had suspected concerning why they were there in his city, but none of them was correct, so he chose to tell him the reason why he had come into Gilroy but did not get to his house, whether he believes it or not. "Well, I do not doubt your thoughts. You are very justified to think that way but then I have to tell you that none of what you said is correct, nor is it even close to the true reason why we were in your lands.""Then speak up. Tell me why you were there and why you returned?""Of course I will. Actually, we were coming to speak to you, but not concerning what you told us. Instead, it is because of what we heard and needed to know the truth. But before we got to your house, we received word that the reason why we were coming there was already settled, so we had to turn around.""Lies! Pure lies.""It's not a lie.""Then prove it. Gabriel was not in haste to respond to him as he discerned what he was trying to do. He kept silent as those with him also realized what Monroe was trying to do and they could now see with their own eyes that Monroe deserved to pay for all that he had done.Just as Gabriel was finally about to say something in response to the question that Monroe had asked, Wagner entered into the hall again with the five men he had gone to call for Gabriel and his company."These are the men you seek?" Wagner said. All their attention shifted to theen that had been brought before them. Then Byron said as he suspected something far different from what Monroe had been telling them since they arrived there. "I know you very well Monroe, you are quick to anger and will never let such crime go unpunished, so tell me, why haven't you asked for the execution of these men?" Monroe was dumbfounded, even Wagner that had called them there, what Byron had said was exactly what Monroe Howard would do if he truly

The right time for this is near." Byron said to him."Please, let me pass. Monroe has done more than enough to be forgiven.""But I just told you that he was not the one that sent his men to abduct me. They acted on their own will without hearing from their master." Abby reminded him of what she had told them earlier."You can never trust that man. Maybe it was a plan which he made with his men, even if it wasn't, he still wants me dead and I have to kill him before he kills me.""Yes, we know, but this is not time, let's give him a little more time to make amends and if he doesn't then we shall execute him."

So they loosed the ropes used to tie her hands, also the blindfold was taken off including the mouth which had been covered. Then she could see lord Monroe Howard and she knew that he was innocent of the crime which his men had done because she had heard what he said to them. When she was now loose, Monroe said to her.
