Alex Cole moved swiftly through the woods at the edge of the Vale, the scroll from Elder Ruvan secured tightly in his inner robe. His steps were silent, and his thoughts focused.

The path to Cloudshroud Mountain was narrow and almost invisible to the untrained eye. Moss-covered rocks and twisting vines tried to hide the trail from outsiders.

But Alex could now see the energy veins beneath the ground, the pulsing flow of spiritual current guiding his every step.

The knowledge that had entered his body in the Cavern of Reflection was not like anything he had studied in the medicine village. It had embedded itself into his meridians, flowing like a second breath inside him.

His eyes saw more than they should have. His skin felt more than it ever had. His sense of energy, balance, and danger had heightened to levels he never experienced before.

But this power came with a warning.

He could now sense presences even when they were far away.

And there was one such presence following him.

Alex’s fingers brushed the petal of the White Snake Flower.A pulse ran up his arm.Warm at first, then sharp. It wasn’t just energy. It was recognition. The flower knew who he was.The black roots around it retracted completely, curling back into the earth like snakes returning to a nest. The petals, now pure white again, opened slowly. They gave off a faint shimmer that danced in the mist. It was unlike anything Alex had seen or studied. No drawing or description in the medicine village matched this exact glow.He plucked the flower gently. There was no resistance. No flash. No pain. The stem separated smoothly from the earth.Alex held it in his hand, staring at it for a few seconds. Then he turned and walked back toward the archway. The Shadow Temple men had vanished. Not a trace of their presence remained. Even their corrupted qi had dissolved into the wind.Nara was still standing where she had been earlier, her face pale and her breath unsteady.“You really did it,” she said. H

Alex Cole stepped off the transport array, the dense energy of Trim City brushing against his senses like a stale fog. The lights were bright, the air thick with modern noise and city dust. For a moment, he stood still, his robes rustling in the breeze. The journey back from the mountains had been quiet, but his thoughts were anything but.He had returned empty-handed.The White Snake Flower was gone. Used. Spent.Lord Walton still lay on his sickbed. And Alex hadn’t rested in two days.Just as he turned toward the main road, his jade communicator buzzed inside his robe. He glanced at it, the familiar pulse of his master’s call lighting up the screen. He hesitated, then answered.“Disciple,” Master Dustin’s voice rang out, as calm and collected as always. “You're back in the city.”Alex nodded. “Just arrived.”“Good. I need you to attend something.”Alex narrowed his eyes. “Old man, I haven’t even….” He then connected the dopt that Dustin was aware that he had met someone at the black

The noise in the hall died down as Reed stepped confidently onto the stage, Thea by his side. The announcer cleared his throat and raised the mic. “Please welcome our keynote guest for tonight’s Mericania Medical Assembly Mr. Reed, representing the Reigns Medical Group.”Applause followed, but it was polite, nothing more.Reed let go of Thea’s hand, straightened his jacket, and walked to the podium like he owned the room. His eyes scanned the crowd, a crooked smirk tugging at the edge of his mouth. His gaze lingered just a little longer when it passed over Alex Cole standing silently near the back wall.Thea took a seat near the front. She crossed her legs and folded her arms, her face unreadable.Reed adjusted the mic.He didn’t speak right away.He just looked around, letting the silence stretch until people leaned forward in their chairs.“Good evening,” he finally said. “I was told I’d be giving a speech to a room full of Mericania’s finest. Men and women of honor. Of skill. Of re

Alex Cole walked down the quiet sidewalk near the southern quarter, hands in his robe pockets, his expression unreadable. Streetlights cast soft glows over the pavement, and traffic had finally thinned after the chaos of the medical assembly. He didn’t regret a word he said.Reed Clove had opened his mouth like a fool and left with it shut. That was enough for Alex.He turned down a corner, about to head toward his temporary apartment when his communicator buzzed again. He pulled it out and glanced at the caller ID.Hannah Stone. He stared at the name for a second.Thea Walton’s right hand. Her personal assistant, handler, and rumor had it, her attack dog in a dress.Alex debated ignoring it, but curiosity got the better of him.He accepted the call.“Alex Cole,” came the clipped, polished voice on the other end. “You certainly stirred up the hall tonight.”He didn’t answer.Hannah didn’t seem to care.“Lord Walton has asked me to extend a formal invitation. Dinner. Tomorrow evening,

Alex's phone was ringing, He checked the screen.Tina Snow.He narrowed his eyes.It had been a while since her name appeared. The last time they spoke, she threw an engagement dinner for a man who never proposed, waved around a childhood promise like it was holy scripture, and demanded marriage like she was issuing a royal decree. He let the call ring for a few seconds. Then he answered it.He didn’t speak first.“Took you long enough,” Tina’s voice came through, smooth and sweet — but lined with something sharper underneath. “I was starting to think you forgot your fiancée.”Alex didn’t sigh, didn’t groan, didn’t even blink.“Didn’t realize we were calling each other that now,” he said plainly.“We always were,” Tina replied without missing a beat. “You just forgot. I remembered for both of us.”Alex said nothing.Tina’s voice dropped slightly in tone . not flirtatious, not playful. Calculated.“Let’s skip the games, Alex. I’ve thought about it. You’re busy. Victor Miller adjusted his tie for the third time.“Relax, dear,” Rena whispered, smoothing the front of his jacket. “You look fine. Handsome as ever.”Victor gave a nervous chuckle, still scanning the office around him. “Raymond Bourne inviting us? Just like that? No warning? No message? Hah… something big’s about to drop.”Rena clutched her purse tighter, her earrings catching the soft overhead light as she glanced around. “This office is gorgeous. Look at that sculpture! Is that real bronze?”They sat in a long, cold corridor outside Raymond Bourne’s top-floor executive office. The carpet was red. The walls were matte black, and two armored guards stood at the elevator like statues.Victor checked his watch again. Twenty-nine minutes.Still no sign of their host.He looked over at Rena and whispered, “You think he wants to buy in? Like a joint venture? Maybe merge the cargo line?”Rena’s eyes glittered. “Or maybe he wants to use your warehouse network for his trade division. You’ve

The room was heavy with silence. Victor Miller’s jaw was set, his fists clenched at his sides. He didn’t speak. He didn’t even breathe. It was Rena who finally broke the stillness.“Mr. Bourne,” she said gently. “With all due respect… do you know who you’re asking us to move against?”Raymond didn’t blink. “Alex Cole.”Rena stepped forward, one palm pressed lightly against the surface of the glass desk.“He’s connected to Carl Moretti.”Ray raised an eyebrow, almost amused. “And?”“He’s been seen speaking to him. Carl’s backed him publicly.” Ray let out a short breath — not quite a laugh.“Carl Moretti is a dog,” he said bluntly. “A loyal mutt who barks when Donald whistles.”Rena’s mouth opened slightly.Ray’s tone sharpened. “My older brother keeps Carl on a leash because he’s useful. Nothing more. You think I’m worried about what he might do if some healer gets shuffled off to another city?”He leaned back again, a slow smirk curling his lip.“Carl’s not going to start a war over

Carl walked in with his usual calm expression, but tonight, there was something tense about him. He sat down across from Alex without waiting for tea or small talk."Speak," Alex said, leaning forward slightly.Carl didn’t hesitate."There’s trouble brewing. Someone from the Scalebound Treaty has finally decided to make a move."Alex raised a brow. "Who?"Carl met his eyes. "Wade Smith."The name meant nothing to Alex. He waited.Carl sighed. "You wouldn’t know him. He stays away from the public eye. Wade Smith is one of the old heads in the Treaty… one of the remaining giants. He owns the Smith Family Hospital, the largest privately-owned medical institution in Mericania. Powerful, respected, and dangerous."Alex’s gaze remained flat. "What’s he planning?"Carl folded his arms. "He’s sending his three sons to Trim C

As soon as Miller walked out of Tina Snow’s office, Alex rushed after him.“Uncle Miller!” he called out to him.Miller stopped in his tracks and turned to face him. He was still visibly pissed.“I’m sorry about what happened the other day. Uncle, I know no excuse would be enough. After all, it was my fault for not checking in before going to your house,” Alex apologized sincerely.Miller sniffed. He already knew the truth that his wife had framed Alex but he wasn’t about to tell him that. He didn’t want to lose face in front of the boy.He squared his shoulders. The resentment inside him simmered down a little as he remembered all that he had lost his ties with Raymond Bourne, and the respect he once commanded. He was highly happy that Bourne had met up with him, besides he had also pictured the opportunities that would flock around him because of his relationship with Ray.But instead, it caused him more harm than anyone could envision but somehow he was able to vindicate himself. Tina’s voice sliced through the tension in the room like a blade.“That was rude, Miller. You don’t speak to people like that, especially not someone like Alex.”Her brows were drawn together in disapproval, her arms crossed tightly over her chest as she glared at the man seated across from her. She looked every bit the confident, assertive woman people knew her to be fierce, sharp-tongued, and used to having things go her way. Miller, on the other hand, looked unimpressed. He merely lifted his eyes toward her and gave a scoff, like her words held no weight.“I didn’t ask for his opinion,” Miller replied flatly. “If someone barges into a meeting unannounced, they should be prepared for how they’re received.”Alex, standing just near the door, seemed caught between staying and saying more, or simply slipping out to avoid escalating the situation. He bowed his head slightly, voice soft and apologetic.“I’m sorry for interrupting,” Alex said, his tone calm and respectful despite the obv

Alex changed into a sharp, formal tuxedo as he prepared for his date with Tina. While tying his cufflinks, his thoughts drifted silently to Victor Miller. He was heading to Tina Snow’s company an hour before their scheduled date not by coincidence, but by design. He needed time to find Miller and speak with him before anything else.A part of him considered asking for forgiveness after all, the misunderstanding between them wasn’t truly his fault, but it had still caused damage. Yet, the idea of bringing it up felt strange, given that it stemmed from Rena’s false accusations. What would Miller even say? Would he believe him now?Still, Alex couldn’t shake the feeling that he owed the man something.Carl had recently informed him that Raymond Bourne was one of the influential figures who approved the list of companies eligible for investment from the Snow family’s enterprise. Since the Bourne family held significant shares in Snow’s company, Raymond’s word carried weight.Carl also rev

Honestly, he hadn’t expected Sean to reach out again after how things had ended between them. When Sean finally arrived, he looked a little better than the last time, though the stress was still evident on his face.“Hmmm… How have you been all these years?” Sean asked, taking a seat beside him. “I see you managed to secure some good deals for yourself.”Sean was aware of what had happened behind the scenes. He knew how Alex’s extended family had swooped in to take control of his father’s businesses and stripped Alex and his sister of their rightful inheritance. He added with a light chuckle, “You even managed to repurchase your father’s car, huh?”That wasn’t public knowledge, but Sean had always been close enough to the Cole family to know more than most.Alex smirked. “Good bands, huh? That’s funny coming from you, Sean. Isn’t your family still doi

Even if this was not done against the Divine doctor’s precious student, it was wrong to do that to anyone.“How dare you treat a doctor like that in public, you didn't even do that to just anyone but Doctor Cole. Even if it was a junior Doctor, it is wrong to do that any one.” Roman scolded him.Reed was too scared and he could not utter any words in his defense.“I am so sorry that he had done that to you Doctor Alex. I don’t think what I am about to say will help make this up to you but it is the least I could do to ease things up.” Roman Reign said apologetically, “You may decide what his punishment is because he needs to be taught a lesson to never disrespect any doctor in his life.”“Forbid him from using the skills he had learned from your medical

The alley behind the gallery was too quiet. That should’ve been Alex’s first clue. But he didn’t flinch.Dressed in black and moving like a shadow, he strolled through the narrow lane that reeked of garbage and cheap perfume. Neon signs flickered overhead. Somewhere in the distance, a party throbbed with music and laughter. But here? Silence. Stillness.A perfect place for a setup. He adjusted the cuff of his shirt and paused in the middle of the alley. That’s when the men stepped out, six of them, all bulk and muscle, dressed like plain thugs but too synchronized to be random street trouble. One cracked his knuckles. Another pulled a metal rod from beneath his coat.“These guys really needs to stop hiring amateurs,” Alex muttered under his breath.A slow clap echoed through the alley.Gisele came on first, heels clicking as she walked in like this was a stage built just for her. A red satin dress hugged her curves, and her smirk was sharper than any weapon. James followed, less styl

If this gets out…”Vivian already had her phone out. “I’ll speak to PR. We’ll spin it. He’s angry. Bitter. Jealous. We’ll make him look like a disgruntled heir with a vendetta. No one will believe his accusations.”Fredrick didn’t look so sure. “That man wasn’t bluffing. You saw his eyes.”James didn’t speak for a moment. Then he said, “Find out who’s working with him. If he’s digging into our finances, someone gave him access.”Fredrick nodded. “We’ll clean house. I’ll speak to the accountant.”“No,” Vivian interrupted. “He’s been acting nervous lately. If Alex approached him…”They all went quiet.“Do it tonight,” James said. “We don’t wait. No room for mistakes.”Vivian’s phone bu

Her sharp green dress hugged her frame perfectly, and her expression was a mask of calm curiosity though her stomach twisted with unease. James and Fredrick Cole followed close behind, the former adjusting his cufflinks while the latter muttered curses under his breath.Security had come to them not five minutes earlier, murmuring about a disturbance at the entrance involving “a man in black” and a group of men who looked like trouble. One of the guards even whispered something about the Mafia, which was ridiculous, of course. At least, they hoped it was.As they turned the corner and stepped into the wide foyer of the building, they paused, almost in unison. There he was.Alex Cole.Their nephew.Dressed in a matte-black tailored suit with a long overcoat draped elegantly over his shoulders, Alex stood like a storm in waiting shoulders squared, chin slig
