CHAPTER 19

The morning sun rose far too early as usual, pulling me from restless dreams. As consciousness returned, so too did remaining unease over going back to school after everything that happened. Would Jean be waiting to jump me? I had no desire to find out.

Rolling over with a sigh, I weighed my choices. Ignoring Jean completely seemed best for now. Better not to provoke him until I was ready to strike back against Paul. Staying under the radar held appeal, if I could successfully disappear into the hive of privileged elitists.

A quick breakfast passed in quiet thought. Agatha breezed through as always, rambling about political maneuverings among her family back home. I nodded along halfheartedly, too lost in shifting thoughts to truly focus.
