Well of course I was interrogated.
Luciano and Matthias as well as many other high ranking officials on the scene at the time were morbidly curious as to how I ascertained the exact locations of the deplorable and delusional criminals we now held in our custody.
I tried dodging the questions and inquiries, a few glares got most generals to stand down on their attempts and even shut up Matthias for a while. But Luciano still persists.
And so here we were, Matthias, Luciano and I, seated together in confidentiality. i wondered severally what excuse I’d give to the act of divination I performed, in fact thinking solely about this took up most of the new day. After the operation yesterday I quickly dismissed everyone, giving light instructions here and there to prepare for what would be my second flex as Supreme leader.
I spent majority of the day then in the office, trying best to summarize the submitted summary of what had happened whilst I was in a coma. But that left me with close to no free time to come up with a plausible lie to tell Matthias and Luciano the next day.
So her I was. About to tell them the truth.
“So? How did you know where to look?” Luciano asked, the silence permeating his impatient, curious mind. He looked quite suspicious of me and for good reason too. Aside from the truth. There would lie only two possible truths to such a question.
“How do you think I figured it out, Luciano? I want to know what you really think. You’ll never hit the mark but still, amuse me with your theories, both of you.” I say with a sly smile, my hands clasping a hot cup of tea as I blew away the heat for a sip.
I notice Matthias shift uncomfortably in his seat, still with my rather condescending smile, I offer him some tea as well, “At your discretion Matthias.”
He gives thanks but refrains from pouring any. Luciano grunts at this and boldly pours himself a cup, he gives me a curt nod as he rather rashly throws down the entire thing down his throat. I look to Matthias who still looks reluctant at the offer. Suspicious, surely he doesn’t think I’d poison my two right-hand men now does he?
I shake my head, looking away from him and turning my attention to Luciano instead, “Well Luciano? What do you think?”
He clears his no doubt burning throat before speaking, “Pardon me sir but I believe you would have absolutely no way of discerning their location on your own, especially after our surveillance caught no whiff of the Chiefs, surveillance that the remaining Chiefs still elude. There’s only one way I know of that you could have known, Sir.”
“And what is that way?”
“You were working with them, Sir.” He says finally.
“Oh?” my sly smile still in place I cross my legs and play with my teabag as Luciano speaks the words I want to hear.
Matthias nods along with Luciano’s deduction, it seemed he too thought the same, albeit too scared to actually speak it.
“Yes. Perhaps this was all just a test for us. To see whom is loyal to you and who would leave your side to save their own skin. You sounded and looked very stressed as to how to redeem our position but that was all a façade as you had complete control over everything. Perhaps even staging your coma.”
“You just took power, of course you’d want to know who would stand by you,” Matthias said, adding on his two cents, “You staged your own coma and ordered Miss Leriva to release the news of your identity as President to the general public to fuel the drive of the ‘Chiefs’ as well as hinder us in our movements.”
They seemed satisfied with their responses, looking supportively at each other.
“Well there’s that and there’s me just being lucky.” I say with a smile, their reactions as expected, completely aghast, “But of course I kid.”
I down the last bit of tea left in my cup and set it down, satisfied, “But you are wrong. I will tell you how I truly found Gaylord Ralefy and all the other Chiefs we captured. But you will most likely not believe it.”
They looked on expectantly, quiet and ready to absorb whatever I spoke.
“I met God.” Well...sort of, “The coma I fell into had no medical explanations to it because there was nothing wrong with me. I was simply called by God.”
They looked quite ready to refute, their shocked looks morphing into that of confusion, “Let me explain. The Lord, my God, spoke to me as I slept, he told me that I was chosen for a greater purpose,” Well…sort of, “He gave me his angelic gifts and promised me that all shall be well in Schelar under my reign, he promised that I would lead us into prosperity and with his gifts I shall stave off all those who seek to undermine me.”
I smiled, making sure to laugh as though I was surprised myself, “I was with his gifts that I found the heathens.” I lose my smile and narrow my eyes at the both of them, “He has shown me my those who hesitate to follow my will.”
I relax and let on a smile once more, “Now I am a very forgiving and magnanimous servant of the almighty so I won’t bring down his righteous fury on those who…are reluctant.” I clap my hands, scaring Matthias who’d listened unblinkingly into finally blinking, “Now I hope that the truth satisfies you.”
I see Luciano about to question but I quickly raise my hand silencing him, “We mustn’t spend all day on this matter. I have other places to be Luciano, in due time and upon great service and sacrifice, I will introduce you to my God.”
I rise to my feet and they follow suit. I button up my suit, straightening out my look as I relay onto them my orders, “Meanwhile the two of you have some work to do. I want a complete list of new cabinet members to replace those heathens. Make sure to vet them out, use whatever mean you deem necessary. Just get me a list for approval as soon as possible.”
“Another cabinet, Sir? Are you sure?” Luciano asks, his face still looking a bit white from my revelation.
I sigh, wanting to get on with work, “Luciano, Matthias here may have screwed up so bad with the current cabinet that I have half a mind to throw him in the cells with them. But his train of thought still holds true. No man rules alone, Luciano. For effective administration we must centralize decentralization and that is what I intend to do.”
Matthias and Luciano looked humbled enough. Satisfied with the work done here ii give a curt nod to them both and begin leaving the room, intent on meeting the man who would serve as the first test subject for my second power.
Pain infliction.

Although we’d captured most of the men involved in the attempted coup, there still stood a few who eluded the men deployed for their capture. Indeed, it was the easiest thing getting the captured Chiefs to give out the locations of their comrades, some even recited the address of his partners as he was being cuffed yesterday. Shameless.
In truth we only need a few of them alive for the sake of corroborations, but I kept them all alive as they played a huge role in the next power flex I had planned. This one would be a bit cruel.
But now I sat in front of the man himself, the great orchestrator of my downfall, Gaylord Ralefy.
The cell he currently resided in was a deplorable one. No I didn’t have it be so, it just ended up being that way. Perhaps Matthias or Luciano had something to do with it. But I wasn’t complaining.
The medic had patched up his leg wound and he’d been given a crutch. Apparently the bullet passed through his knee, obliterating it completely. I stared at the unfortunate leg, it was going to be cut off if by some miracle he left this place.
“What do YOU want?”
His words bring my attention back to his face. Lord, he looked terrible, “You look terrible Mister Ralefy, not at all like the multi-millionaire you are.” I remark
“No fucking thanks to you, you bastard!” he screeches, the chains his wrist are bound to clatter against the ground as he tries and fails to move against me.
I let out a chuckle and switch on the camera that sat on the tripod in the room. “Well, I need to record this. Mister Ralefy, please say hello to your good friend, the President of Verdantis.”
President Leopold Marofo of the Republic of Verdantis was one of the biggest challenges my father had ever faced, before and after the formation of Schelar. He was also the reason I was currently President and with my new position, he became one of my biggest problems as well. This is why it gladdened me to have this recorded and sent right to his mail. Gaylord Ralefy had bravely sold out his country to Leopold. Many of the men, militia that resisted us during the raid were Verdantians soldiers in poor disguise. I intended to teach them both a valuable lesson.Still, the unfortunate Ralefy who’d found himself caught in something much bigger than he could handle squirmed and begged for mercy.“What about your son, hm? You haven’t mentioned him once in your time here I’m told, strange.” His son was just as pitiful as he was, although, he’d gotten a much better cell and only cried out for food once every twenty minutes, obviously not comprehending the magnitude of his father’s and now hi
What had caused my coma? As tempting as it was to let her in on the ‘truth’ I’d told Matthias and Luciano, letting her run a story based on it would be an experiment resulting in only two possible results. The populous think I’m insane or I’m really the messiah I say I am.Making myself out to be the messiah of the Schelarian people wouldn’t be all too hard, especially with the way current events had aligned themselves; My parents die, I fall into a coma, awaken to a world that is threatened by the evil chiefs, save the world with miraculous powers I’d woken up with. It’s a rough sketch but with good media and a big baddy(Verdantis) we could run it.“Ah, that is something for my doctors and I to discuss,” I respond, pouring she and I some tea. I wasn’t all that ready to make a religion around myself, perhaps much later in my life. And although religions serve as great tools to placate and enslave people in the masses, I’d rather placate my people through honest means. Giving them exac
“Mister President, it is my honour and privilege to present to you the letter of credence, accrediting me as Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Volstovian Federation to the Federal Republic of Schelar.”A lot had taken place between now and the little drama fest with the Chiefs last week. With my administration becoming a lot calmer, optimistic and organized my inauguration had finally been rescheduled for tomorrow.I shake hands with the Volstovian ambassador, smiling and exchanging pleasantries in French, Verdantians and Volstovian. My multilingual tongue easily made an impression on the man as his eyes widened with a bright smile that washed away his nervousness. One of the fruitful things that had taken place within the week was of course, this beautiful arrangement with the Volstovian government. After quashing much of the Chiefs scattered revolutionaries- luckily the fools hadn’t the wit to spread their infection to other parts of the country- I took out the tim
It was night time in Victoria, Mahe, the beautiful and glistening capitol of the Schelarian state.Mahe was the only part of the country that wasn’t touched by the devastation of the war, even when father had gone ahead to overthrow the President of Aquilo , it only took the bare minimum of effort to do so. He’d taken it as the capitol not only for its stable infrastructure but also for the stable minds of the people around him.“Less people grieving a loss,” he’d said. But it did hold true, at least to an extent. Good leaders don’t need to physically see the troubles of their people to know it exists. And so, without the brutal imagery of disaster breathing down his neck but with only the knowledge that they exist, father quickly made moves to industrialize as much as he could, with the limited resources the most he could do…had done, was bring in the oil and gas sector. The same oil and gas that would be the running point of my brainwashing propaganda, once I publicly took office to
The night was beautiful still. But even as I said goodbye to my guests at the Palace and retired to my quarters, the life I led as President offered me little remise.I’d put on a large fluffy cardigan to protect from the cold and I was now waiting in my office to receive the call I’d been woken up from my slumber for. I didn’t have to wait long as soon, the TV blinked into view the President of Verdantis, Leopold Marofo.Much unlike myself, the President still had on a suit and looked less luxurious than he did the last time we spoke.“President Hasina,” he begun, making no attempt to hide the glower he’d set on me. “I see you are truly in good health. I watched many of the public appearances you pulled off to assuage your people’s concerns of the of your health. What a fine man you are.”I could sense he’d planned an entire monologue for the beginning of the call, I didn’t want to be rude and cut him off midway, plus, I needed some background noise while I actually thought about…Mis
I’d woken up bright and early in the morning, just as early as my staff had. But I hadn’t yet left my bed. This morning, important as it was, I’d woken up pretty lazy.Mireille had come in to call me out of bed twice but here I still lied, unwilling to think and unwilling to get up. I idly wondered what would come of this day, it was my inauguration, I was officially taking the reins of the country, but I am well aware that many already see that with or without an inauguration, I was the man ruling the nation. The inauguration was just a chance for the entire nation to see me in such respect, a moment to be ingrained in their minds as they begin to recognize the pseudo monarch I was. It was also a moment for me to address the entire country, all through the past month all my words, actions and orders had been communicated through the news or Matthias and Luciano. It was a moment to for King and subject to meet. But I suppose it was there-in that lied my unwillingness to move from my b
The inauguration went on with much fanfare. Quite over the top really, it looked like whoever was involved in organizing it all took a lot of liberties with the budget we had at hand. After I’d given my speech I walked as Commander-in-chief, emphasized greatly by the grand show of military might; a batch of soldiers walked I unison behind me and the air force flew in practiced patterns overhead. The entire thing caught me off guard as I’d simple thought that after the motivational, inspiring and promising speech I’d given to the populace I’d be heading back to work or possibly to try and squeeze some advanced form of foreign relations with the heads of state present as of now. But I was quite easily nudged into a parade with thousands of Schelarians moving behind the barriers and gates to get a clean look at the youngest world leader. Their leader.I could only give the most charming smile as I waved to them. To my surprise, a lot of those present to watch were women and children, you
For the remainder of the day I was in quite a very optimistic mood. The country did well to match this with parties and celebrations all across the land. Though the excitement seemed to never end, I still had plans to make with Luciano and Matthias, and more importantly, we needed to adjust already establish plans according to the joyous new developments with the Kalaharan Union.Although it wasn’t a certainty that we would be reinstated there was a high chance of it happening if the Union’s little Presidential spies reported back the exact things we wanted. A large part of that was the standard of living in the country. It was something that varied greatly with proximity to the economic centre of the nation; the closer you were to Mahe, the higher the standard of living. This wasn’t intentional of course, though from a bird’s eye view of the nation it would seem like one ran out of money before covering the entire nation in urbanization and industry. But unfortunately, that was exact
As usual, the Hospital was crowded and there were people waiting for one thing or the other in all corners. It was a good thing then that Alban had brought along his friends from the government then, with a flash of their badge and a silent glower, doors were opened and people made way.Marina’s room was set in the far end of the Hospital, completely closed off from the others. Alban wasn’t entirely sure why this was done but he didn’t complain.Entering the room, the first thing he observed was that it was a single man bedroom, Marina didn’t have anyone she was sharing the room with, perhaps that would have been different if he’d been injured as well. The second thing was marina herself, she had her hands wrapped up in sloppy bandages and had almost fallen over reaching for the pistol she now pointed at him. The dogs Alban had brought along shamelessly backed out of the room, choosing to stand outside rather than help diffuse whatever situation might be occurring.“Hello Marina.”“Al
Alban wasn’t sure how many days had passed since he’d been in audience with the President. But he was aware that he’d spent quite a few number of days under some observation of sort. His memory was sufficiently distorted that he didn’t care much about what had happened during that period, all he knew was that he was soon released to do as he pleased after they had stared at him day after day.Luckily, his memory wasn’t so distorted to forget the events that had transpired and once he’d been released he was intent to find his only surviving teammate, Marina. Before he could do so, however, he’d been quickly beset by more ‘Government Dogs’ as he’d begun to think of them. They’d been waiting for him the moment he’d been released from what he could only describe as a detention centre. The two dogs wore polished black suits and wore matching black sunshades, if Alban was the man he was a month ago he’d think the two just had a bad fashion day, but now vividly aware of the rot that called i
As soon as I’d given authorization the operation began in full force, my men knowing their responsibilities trooped out of my office to begin the operation in earnest, communicate to the troops and get them into offensive positions. From that moment to whatever moment I found myself either at the end of a gun or handing over terms of surrender to Leopold Marofo, began the most stressful days of my life. We’d given the order to begin the operation to the troops and all priority one regiments; Helgen, Peridot and Upsilon were set.Helgen had been given the order to move in with the rest of our men on ground and begin placing pressure on the enemy at one point in the theather, a point we’d marked as a soft spot. But the soft spot wasn’t as soft as the name implied, it was simply the least defended front with less close air support and rather non-existent bombers flying through as our squads advanced over their lines. That still left the men, their tanks, heavy artillery and often anti-ta
The vassalization of Verdantis was a thought that had only come into mind a few times. I think a majority of my Government, myself included was going on with the war with the thought that we’d be annexing the hell out of the bane of our existence thus far.But Niaina put up several good points as to why vassalization was much better than annexation.Firstly, it would be several times more efficient for the Government to administer the region through a puppet state than to attempt coring the entirety of the states with military rule and fear.“The Schelarian military would and should be put to better use than quashing rebellions.” She’d said. “The cost of maintenance of those armies would be the same as the current cost during this war. It is just not profitable to do so, especially seeing as it would take months if not year to effectively begin the taxation of the newly conquered regions. The deficit would kill the country and the Niluthiaians would break away.”Secondly, it would be
Discovering that I could control the emotions of people to whatever extent really suited my needs, but it made it a bit difficult to handle when all my test subjects either viciously began trying to attack me, fell asleep, or tried killing themselves.Yes, I’d finally tested out Pain-Infliction on with mental illnesses. It was the most difficult to control, it was like trying to fill up a shot glass with a giant jug held by only one hand. I felt a bit bad that some actually succeeded in killing themselves right before my eyes and even worse that they used my security as a means to do so.I’d learnt my lesson though and I arranged for an observation chamber, like an interrogation room but with less concrete and more fluff. For the tests I had to fly out to Sava, one of the few provinces we held onto after the first war with Verdantis. This meant the generals were on by themselves at the frontlines, but it was only for three days, Nizar had said it would take quite a bit of time to mass
It’d been a long day. Not unlike any of my previous days, I’d always be subjected to long hours, the position came with it. But today had an extra slap of stress set onto it.I’d spent an uncomfortable amount of time on the phone with Matthias, assuring him that everything was fine here and Luciano was completely safe. I’d beefed up his security several times and only authorized myself and a few doctors after running a background on them with the intel-ii.I’d taken to the idea that perhaps Luciano was in fact the target of an assassination. The explosion seemed too convenient for it to simply be an accident. The Verdantians may have found a way to get behind our lines, a spy of their own, an inside man, a traitor within the ranks even. Anything was plausible at this point.I then spent over twelve hours testing the War tab on its ability to coordinate my forces. It was a delicate mission and the simple part was rendering everyone blind.Nizar had long developed a bomb that not only d
They’d flown fast and high, everyone with two working eyes kept a look out for the Jeep Alban had mentioned. Meanwhile he only pretended to do search, his mind was clouded with so many conflicting thoughts. Thoughts of the state of his last surviving companion, Marina.Despite the both of them receiving the best first-aid treatment the troops could provide, she hadn’t woken up all the while thy flew, and it’d been a minute. He was also worried for his saviours; they’d spent some time searching for the vehicle behind enemy lines, he didn’t know how they could afford such at all, so he asked.“How are we still behind enemy lines? The Verdantians will surely be on our tail by now.” He questioned the Captain. The man shrugged, taking a moment to give Alban a look before answering, “It’s all on the President’s orders apparently. Some minister had us drop some large device at the frontlines before we left. It rendered all sensors and communication devices dark, except for these archaic Noki
Alban woke up with a splitting headache, if the red in his eyes and the ringing in his ears was anything to go about, his head had been injured. He also found through trial that his hands were bound. He looked down as he felt something heavy on his legs. It was Marina, they’d bound her broken arms together and thrown her into the vehicle they were in right now. Seems they went for capturing them alive anyway. He could hear them speak to each other, obviously pissed about all it took to capture them. Alban couldn’t help but feel a bit good about himself, they’d managed to fend off five military vehicles for over two hours in a rapid chase to the border.Suddenly, he noticed something was off. He didn’t see Daniel anywhere. He looked out the window and sure enough there were the other beaten up cars driving beside them. He couldn’t see into them from the left side of the backseat, so he went on and asked his captors.“What happened to my other teammate? Where is he?”His captors in the
He’d never felt the sun so hot against his skin. He was soaked in his own sweat and the dunes of sand he drove on slapped against his wet skin. He felt rather uncomfortable with the whole thing. But there were these moments where he didn’t feel like he was speeding across a desert, racing away from a horde of armed men and vehicles that sought to capture he and his companions. Companions that screamed at the top of their lungs as they continuously chucked grenades at their pursuers and fired their rifles blindly. He was in one of those blissful moments now. His mind was clear, without fear, and completely at ease and at peace with his predicament. He didn’t know how long the calming feeling would last before he went on to screaming his lungs out with his companions, so he was sure to appreciate it while it did.Whoosh. BOOOM.And that was a rocket launcher.“They’re firing rockets, ALBAN!! I told you we should have taken one!” Marina spat out.“They aren’t looking like they’re taking
