"What?" Philip asked with a shocked expression planted on his face. Meanwhile, Thalia kept quiet, but her widened eyes explained her shock enough.
But the ones that were the most startled were the guest, they had always remembered Damon as a kind and meek boy, but now he looked confident and was already cursing in front of the elders.
"What?" Damon raised his left eyebrow, "I was just asking if any of you were having a good time." He continued pretending never to insult them in front of their faces.
'Ahh, it's too late… He is dead,' Wyne thought as he looked at Watts, pretending to be innocent.
"Oh, I must have misheard then…" Philip said before he continued drinking his wine and shook his head. Everyone else did the same, acting as if Damon didn't say what he said to them.
Damon smiled before picking up his fork and eating his steak slowly, knowing that they thought of him as an innocent kid who was too naive to be any worth in a family this prestigious. And therefore, they immediately thought of what they heard clearly as their mistake.
And this wasn't Damon's first attempt; he had already done this to his country and the world. If the world had already thought of someone as good, then it would be stupidly easy for him to convince everyone that the person that they thought was good was unable to do anything bad, and the concept also applied to the opposite; if someone thought of someone to be bad in the first place, then pinning any crime to the person, would be as easy as stealing candy from a baby.
The reflection couldn't believe his eyes. Had everyone gone mad, or were they just plain deaf?
"Damon… what brought you here?" Philip asked, wondering why his brother, who was usually too scared to come out and eat with anyone, would look so comfortable eating here.
"You called me here, didn't you? And the only reason why we are eating here is to cancel the marriage between me and uhh… whoever she is." Damon replied before biting the last piece and wiping the stain off his mouth.
Xandra squinted, looking slightly offended at what Damon said. And what confused her the most was that Damon looked like he was absolutely not interested in her at all. A stark difference from him in the past, who had done everything in his very little power to stop the cancellation of the engagement.
"Her name is Xandra, Damon," Phillip said, noticing a hint of disrespect from his younger brother; he glared at his younger brother as if expecting him to apologize for the rude remark.
The High Mage of Uldor was also expecting an apology for his granddaughter. After all, who was Damon to talk like that?
"Oh, I am sorry." Damon said before turning to Xandra, "I am not that good at remembering unimportant information." He continued.
"I beg your pardon?" Xandra asked before Thalia joined Philip in shooting Damon a threatening glare.
'Stop!' the reflection begged Damon telepathically, only for Damon to ignore him.
"Let's just stop this and get down to business; you want me to come here to sign the agreement, don't you? Here I am; let's do it now." Damon continued before taking out a pen, looking eager to end the relationship once and for all.
Phillip stood up immediately and bowed slightly to both the guest, "I am very sorry. I don't know what has gone to my little brother's head. I truly beg for your forgiveness." Phillip apologized.
"It's fine. We will continue our conversation tomorrow." Asterix said.
Phillip smiled and shook his head, thanking the heavens that he might be able to save the relationship between the great family of Ultron.
"No, let's settle this now. I have very little time to spare." Damon insisted while raising his fatty chin up high.
Philip turned to Damon, he felt as if the control that he had over his little brother had started to disappear, and as he looked at Thalia, it was clear that she was not happy about the situation, looking at Phillip with disappointment.
"Fine." Xandra said before taking out the agreement form and handing it to Damon, 'It's just a bluff….' She thought. Maybe it was just a trick to make her stay; after all, pretending to be a "bad boy" was something that boys were doing currently.
But against her expectation, Damon had taken the agreement form and signed it immediately before handing the paper back. "There you go, Sarah," Damon said as he smiled at Xandra, purposely misnaming her.
Xandra couldn't explain why, but it was slightly painful for him to do that, for a boy who had brought heaven and earth to stop the cancellation of the engagement to suddenly cancel it without batting an eye hurt her.
"Damon!" Phillip pulled Damon and whispered, "What do you think you are doing?" He asked.
"I am only doing what everyone wants," Damon said before pulling his hands away from Phillip's grasp.
"I've had enough of your disrespect for one of the young ladies of the Great Family of Uldron!" The High Mage shouted as he stood up and stared and Damon as if he was about to kill him.
"Oh? And what are you going to do?" Damon asked.
His reflection quickly screamed telepathically, "Are you crazy!! What are you doing!!! He is a high mage, for Goddess's sake! He can kill you without even thinking about it." But just like before, his opinion was not considered even a tiny bit by Watts.
Everyone who was present at the table was also shocked at what they were hearing. Was it their ear playing tricks on them? Or had Damon totally lost it.
"Boy, did you say what I thought you just said?" High Mage Astirix asked.
"Yeah, you heard me right. What, really, could you do to me when I have this?" Damon asked as he raised his finger and showed the ring that was on it.
At this point, Damon was gambling on possibilities; he wasn't sure that what he was going to do was going to work. He was praying that the High Mage would notice the power that was in the ring and decide to fear Damon, this possibility was from the fact that the ring had brought him a new life in a totally new world, and considering the mana that his reflection detected, it was clear that it was some sort of a magical ring.
But there was another possibility, a possibility where the High Mage would disregard the ring and not buy Damon's bluff and kill him there.
"So what about the ring? Do you think a magic ring can save you?" The High Mage asked, unfazed as he looked at the ring.
Damon's heart sank while maintaining a confident look, although his heart was beating hard, 'Have I run out of luck?'
Damon had done this while risking his reputation and career a lot, but risking his life, was a whole new level to what he was used to.His reflection had been begging him to ask for forgiveness, but it was too late for that, and if he did that, his bluff would be seen through much too quickly, and his death might be more painful.Philip and Thalia were already closing their eyes to ignore what was going to happen if Damon were to die there and then everything that would happen. But they didn't hear anything, even though they had been waiting for half a minute, not a single word was muttered.Phillip opened his eyes and saw the confused look on Astirix's face as he started inspecting the ring closer.Xandra drew closer to Astirix, "What is it?" She asked, not knowing why her grandfather stopped."That ring… It's strange…." He whispered as he looked at the ring before looking at Damon, still looking confident in the power that the ring held. The high mage then manages to deduce a few th
Edmund knocked on the door, "Young Master Damon, Phillip has given me a message to give to you." He said.Damon replied as fast as he could, "Sure, just hold on!" He replied while taking the bottle of wine and rope that he had hidden under his blanket and placing it behind the door before opening it.As Damon looked at Edmund's face, it was clear that he wasn't here to talk, "Your brother has been very disappointed with your actions today, and so is your sister. He has sent me, to correct your behavior." He told before cracking his knuckles."And does that correcting include beating me up?" Damon asked, even though he knew the answer."Perhaps," Edmund replied, causing Damon to smile and reach out for the wine bottle that was behind the door.Edmund looked at Damon, wondering what he was reaching for, before he felt his face crash with a glass bottle of wine pouring on his face, "Ahhh!" He shouted; he could feel the shattered glass piercing his skin, causing blood to trickle down his
Shayla woke up in her small thin bed, 'Weird…' She thought. She had constantly been awoken by the other maids normally, but today, none of them did. As she stared out of her window, she could also see that it was a bit late for her to wake up and do her job, 'So why didn't anyone wake me up?' She thought again before getting up from her bed and quickly changed before exiting her room, where she saw one of the other maids that she worked with frequently scurrying off.She followed her, running towards where the maid ran to as she wanted to find out where she was going and what had happened. As she exited the hall where the maids and the butler usually hung out to get their daily dose of fellowship and news updates, she heard some of them talking, "Have you heard what the youngest master did? I heard he hung Edmund upside down! Can you believe it?""No way, Edmund? He is built like a tree and probably has a strength of a bear.""It's true! I can vouch for it. I saw it happened with my o
Phillip stood in front of the bed that Edmund was lying on, covered with countless wraps of magical herbs, and despite its undisputable quality, it was still taking time to heal his butler. "It seems that our little brother has broken him beyond anything he has gone through," Thalia said as she walked behind him, looking at Edmund."He will be fine; he just needs a few more days to recover," Phillip replied, looking at the other maids replacing the herbs that were on his body with new and fresh herbs."Maybe. But his mind will be broken, and it will remain that way." She muttered before walking out of the room.Phillip then looked at Edmund again, shaking his head, still couldn't believe what he had seen yesterday, 'What is that ring?' He thought, realizing that this match against his brother, which he had been so confident about defeating, might be more complicated than he first expected. But even though he knew the risk, it made him much more curious; he wanted to know how powerful
"I know you are expecting me to say yes. But all I feel is he got heavier. And he also knows how to use it to his advantage, but his physical strength has not improved." Edmund responded.Philip shook his head, "If you say so… But I feel that there is definitely something more." He said before Edmund jolted in pain and lay on the bed again. The maids were quick to tend Edmund, helping him put on the bandages and the herbs around where his body was still hurt."You need to rest," Philip said before heading for the door to exit and leaving Edmund to be taken care of more attentively."Sir. Are you sure you want to fight him? How long do we have to do this?" Edmund asked.Philip stopped before gesturing to the maids to level the room, leaving both him and Edmund alone. "We don't have a choice. Thalia, she…" Philip said before stopping as he heard murmurs out of the door. "You know why we have to do this. Let's not talk about it anymore." He continued before walking out.The maids walked
Damon smiled as he maintained eye contact with Philip, "If I wasn't confident in defeating you, I wouldn't have chosen to fight you anyways."Philip looked at Damon shaking his head, "How are you gonna defeat me with the body of yours? You won't be able to land any hits on me."Damon shook his head while maintaining eye contact, causing Philip to feel a bit weak for some reason he didn't know, causing him to look away to break the awkwardness. Upon seeing this, he smiled.Damon was fighting against a skilled fighter that actually fought in fights that could kill him, and he needed everything in his arsenal to survive. And the eye contact was part of the staredown, which most fighters back on earth would do to get into the opponent's head. And as far as he knew, he had defeated Philip mentally, and all he needed to do was beat him physically."Are both of you ready?" The guard in the middle asked.Phillip nodded before Damon shook his head, "Before this fight, I would like to propose a
The darkness enveloped him like a thick, suffocating blanket, smothering all light and hope. All five senses he had when he was alive were gone; he couldn't see, hear, touch, smell, or taste. All he had was his mind. And all he could do was ponder and think about what had happened to him.And even though he had all the time to think about everything he had ever done, only one memory lingered, one that caused his eventual downfall. It all started when he won the Presidential election for the second time. The news reporter's voice filled his mind, "To exceed the father's legacy, President Damon Watts has won the Presidential election again, winning 304 electoral votes and doing what his father could not do."He smiled, turning off the news on his smartphone before opening the car window and waving to his supporters. Armored vehicles filled with secret service agents were put in place to protect him, and his supporters screamed his name even though the sun was brightly shining on them.S
Damon couldn't believe what he saw upon opening his eyes again. Everywhere he looked, everything seemed unfamiliar, foreign even. And to top it off, there was a full set of armor in his room, along with other items that looked too lavish to be called bedroom decor. He had been into many lavish rooms and houses, and this one easily tops it all.As he stood up, Damon realized something strange - his legs and body were completely healed, despite feeling like he had just been through a brutal beating. To confirm his suspicion, he removed his shirt and inspected his body. Much to his surprise, there wasn't even a hint of a bruise or scratch on his skin. Yet despite this, his body still looked pale and skinny, like a twig that had been withered by the harsh winter winds. But the biggest shock came when he caught sight of his reflection in the mirror. "Holy mother of Lincoln... That's not even me!" he exclaimed in disbelief. His face looked almost a decade younger than he was, and the facial
