Banquet

Throughout Zhan Shenwei didn't leave the carriage till they got to the residence prepared for them.

Their residence was in the western part of the palace and was used by the imperial palace to receive guests, fairly large sized enough to accommodate them all and maids assigned to serve them, though Zhan Shenwei only had his maid qing'er serve him.

After telling them to prepare for a banquet that night, the eunuch left.

Zhan Shenwei slept until qing'er came to wake him that it was time to prepare for the banquet.

After freshening up , he put on a black silk robe and followed the eunuch to the banquet.

He was accompanied by Xiaomei and qing'er.

The banquet was set in the Stargazing Pavilion, it had a transparent high ceiling that allowed one to see the stars at night and beautiful fragrant flowers that hanged on the walls

Accompanied by Xiaomei and qing'er, Zhan Shenwei walked casually into the banquet hall after the eunuch announced their presence and underneath the stares of the people in the hall a maid guided them to their seats.

Xiaomei and qing'er were given a table while Zhan Shenwei was brought to the main seat.

The banquet was exquisite and luxurious with all sorts of varieties of lavish foods and silverware, with all sorts of spirit beast meat of high quality.

Zhan Wei felt his blood stir , from afar he could feel the massive vital essence contained in the food.

He didn't see the Emperor or any court officials, only the young generation were present.

As he approached the main table , he saw a girl seated with an empty seat beside her.

This was his first time , he was seeing his so called "fiancee".

She had beautiful purple eyes, fair skin, red lips and long black hair that reached her waist.

She wore purple imperial robes and her jewelry was simple but exquisite.

Zhan Wei felt like she was the prettiest thing he had seen.

She looked like a purple lotus, untainted and pure.

he couldn't say he was fascinated with her at first glance but she was admirable, after his eyes carried a hint of appreciation, they returned back to deep black pools.

As he watched her, She also watched him.

That wild very handsome face and tall strong looking physique, with deep black pupils.

She felt like she could see his emotions in those eyes, those was something about his gaze, it was clear, you could somehow discern his his emotions from them.

" Your Highness " ,Zhan Shenwei bowed as he reached her and sat at the empty seat.

The banquet started with dancers and scholars reading grandiose poems and all sorts of entertainment.

Zhan Shenwei ate as he watched, devouring the food in front of him unhurriedly but continuously, as he ate, he could feel his five organs crazily absorb the vital essence of the five elements.

He used his consciousness to look at his body and found that his five organs all had a hint of colored glow , although it was faint, it deepened more continuously.

Glad, he could feel his bottleneck loosening, " I'm approaching grand completion". Just from a simple banquet, Zhan Shenwei estimated he was very close to accomplishing the first tier of his Primordial Chaos body cultivation.

But his antics wasn't so pleasing to the others in the hall, Zhan Shenwei was like bottomless pit , although he ate elegantly, his huge appetite still shocked them. What sort of brute was this!

This northern wasteland noble young master and imperial consort couldn't be compared to capital nobles like them.

Xia Yunzi sitted beside him was also surprised, she already knew he had a huge appetite yet this was massive.

After a while Zhan Shenwei stopped, although he could eat a lot he couldn't be very extreme, any more couldn't be explained by only massive appetite.

After stopping he played his focus back on the stage where some of the younger generation had started sparing.

He couldn't guage their levels but he tried to discern their strength from the aura of the qi they emanated

After a while , a young slender boy walked to the stage , he wore a green robe and had a long sword on his waist.

" Chen feng greets his Highness " , after bowing he cupped his fist at Zhan Shenwei, " I heard Young Master Shenwei though mortal, was born with divine strength, could lift a thousand jin at young and posseses unrivalled physical strength, simply a dragon among men".

He continued " I wonder if you could grace us with a spar ".

The whole hall was quiet, everybody had their attention on him , wondering how he would respond.

" I'm not interested " replied Zhan Shenwei.

The youth obviously not taking no for answer said, "Young Master Shenwei has just come to the capital, most of the younger generation of the capital are here this night, it won't be pleasant if word got out that the "Imperial consort " refused a friendly spar".

Looking at the youth in front of him Zhan Shenwei chuckled , this Chen feng was clearly antagonizing him, after trying the soft way he was trying to coerce him into a fight.

Not interested in any back and forth antics this Chen feng he answered , " What a joke , you want to fight, I don't want to, tell me why should I fight because you want to".

Xia Yunzi beside Zhan Wei also felt what he said made sense , Why did he have to fight because you asked him to , although Zhan Wei had "divine strength", this was the imperial capital, which one of these youth hadn't been cultivating from young, and the so called divine Strength could at most level the playing ground at the first realm of Qi cultivation, but beyond that Zhan Shenwei couldn't hope at go against 2nd realm cultivators and beyond.

Chen feng cupsed his fist once more , " I apologize for the inconvenience , I wonder if a wager could interest young master Zhan ".

He shook his head , " I won't say it again, why should I spar with you , what stupid wager!, why should I wager?, you have to make it worth my while .

Looking at the reaction of the people in the hall , Zhan Shenwei knew if he didn't fight, Chen feng wouldn't stop and childish rumors could spread about him being a coward, so he planned on fighting, he also did like fighting, but of course he didn't like being goaded into it, so he had to make him pay a price

Everyone including Chen feng was shocked by his reply.

Zhan Shenwei practically wanted him to pay to fight him.

Chen Feng didn't know what to say, until he heard someone communicate something secretly with him using spirit sense then he took out a bottle with a little white pill in it from his storage ring.

" This high grade Cleansing pill has enough spirit qi to cleanse the body and push a mortal to the peak of the body cleansing realm, is it worth your while young master Shenwei". Chen feng said.

Not so knowledge in cultivation matters, but Shenwei knew what the body cleansing realm was.

Most of the youths in the banquet were at meridian opening stage of the foundation stage.

Only a few were at the innate realm

The foundation stage realm had five levels: Body Cleansing, meridian opening and Innate realm and Qi refinement and Foundation establishment.

The body Cleansing realm involved using spirit Qi to cleanse the body of impurities and make it more suitable for cultivation.

Most people would would spend years cleansing their body of impurities.

A pill that could push someone to the peak of the body cleansing, although it wasn't worth a lot to these high nobles , it had value.

Zhan Shenwei stood up and walked to the stage .

He nodded his and said " it's ok ".

Chen feng threw the bottle at him and unsheathed his sword.

After putting away the bottle , Zhan Shenwei looked at him , obviously for Chen feng to have challenged him , he had confidence in his skills.

He didn't know what level he had reached but the qi emanating from him wasn't frightening to him at all.

Compared to a few youths in the hall and the girl beside him, it was negglible.
